Youtuber claims his credible source with no facts says 2K will announce NFL2K at E3

You are all living on laurels of yesteryear. A new 2k football game will most likely be putrid. Hell, going back 2K5 isn't even as good as its god status makes it out to be.

Well, EA losing exclusivity over the NFL license would still be a joyous occasion, considering that could open up the possibility of publishers in addition to 2K taking a shot at it as well. I'd do filthy things for an NFL title from the dudes behind MLB The Show.

I miss the days of having several options, even if most of them weren't good. EA having a stranglehold on the license does no good for anyone outside of EA. It's depressing.

EA's MVP Baseball was even worse.

NBA2K14 was infinitely better received than NBA Live so I think they are trending in the right direction.

MVP were the best baseball games ever until The Show came along. NBA 2k14 is horrible with it's always online, mandatory micro transactions, and the same last gen glitches. 2k baseball was just unplayable for me never even comes close to MVP which was made years before it.

If 2k made a new nfl game it would most likely be NFL 2k5 with better graphics, always online, and horrible micro transactions.

This news would mean I would start buying NFL games again.
Which naturally means it's BS. The NFL doesn't want my money. They want EA's money.

Not buying it honestly. The NFL likes these exclusivity deals. It makes their brand look better and easier to market. Would love it if I was wrong though. 2k5 was amazing back in the day.

A: I'm sorry to hear that. One thing to clarify though, my job and the job of the NFLPA, is to ensure that the players' interests are top priority. I know that might not be the most popular answer, but it's our mission.

fuck this shit

According to the news report in the OP... it doesn't specify if the current deals EA has in place are exclusive. I dont want to get my hopes up on this but with all of EA's exlcusive football related deals falling through it would seem that other companies can jump in to do a deal.

it's best for the industry that there's competition in sports games again.

Plus it would force EA to actually fix the gameplay then adding 20 new animations and presentation crap. They might wanna make Madden 15 a solid title so people won't even think about 2K the following football season.

At this point, I'll be happy if Sony just announces LOCAL PS2 emulation on the PS4 with 1080p upscaling at E3.

Because I still have my ESPN NFL 2K5 PS2 disc.

:)

They would definitely destroy Madden with their unfixable bugs and microtransactions.

Exactly. I am convinced that the majority of 2K clamorers haven't even played Madden in a long time or are just general EA haters. EA's sports titles are the best in the business, especially for online play.

This would be so awesome, but i know it's not going to happen. I've played madden for years and years now and i would love nothing more than an alternative to atleast push EASports towards a more innovative approach. But lets be real, the evil empire won this war already. Just false hopes here guys.

Dat NBA Live though -_-

C'mon. Seriously?

I'd rather see a mediocre 2K football game get released and put some competitive spirit back into Madden than watch EA rest on the laurels of exclusivity over and over again. The NFL 2K series kept EA honest back when they actually had to compete to get people to buy their games. A decade of exclusivity hasn't done much of anything for the Madden franchise (but it sure keeps EA's pockets lined).

Madden on next gen was damn good. They didn't rest on their laurels..that was what they did with Madden 06. What was the last Madden you honestly played in depth?

They are. FIFA, NHL and even Madden were damn good last year, especially for online play. I am sorry, but NBA 2K was a mess. Live showed promise with continued updates and should be stronger this year.

You say it as if it's some fact. I'm more referring to your opinion of best sport titles(forget the especially in online play for a moment)

Madden does not represent the actual game of football better than 2K. That's not even an opinion. The gameplay in 2K was always superior in terms of(while not perfect)giving you a better respresentation of the x's and o's of football on the field. I just don't think that can be argued.

What are the chances NBA Live actually releases this year you think? 50/50?

online play still has several issues that havent been corrected since 2006.

madden still has janky lag, and fifa has its fair share of issues as well.

you would think that after they spend 30 minutes making new rosters they could use the rest of the time and money to actually work on their online service...

Is it a violation of some law for a game maker to produce a generic football game and make it so customizable that gamers could turn the generic players, stadiums, and teams into the actual league?

They aren't without issues however I think fifa and Madden as well as NHL run great online.

Madden 25 is ok. It can get really wonky in tackles...hilarious even...with the new physics. The graphics were horribly disappointing to me (compared to what could be done), when I look at other sports games.

I bought Madden 25 digitally..so I own it forever. I do feel like EA still isn't trying their best. I want a better physics engine...this one still feels stuck halfway between realistic and old school canned. They need more realistic player models. They need more realistic AI (although it is slightly better). They need high level (harder settings) AI that doesn't feel like it is cheating, but that is actually adjusting and trying to learn.

I can win every game on most settings by running the same 6 plays or so...and that annoys me. Heck, any time I get a 2nd and 3 or a 3rd and 1 I just run QB sneak and dive for a first down (if the game is close). Yes...I could try an actual play, but why even care if that's a given.

4th and 1 on the other side of the 50...meh. QB dive....first down.

Madden needs a competitor...even if it's a crappy attempt..heck, at least let someone try.

I'm gonna guess and say no? Which is what I've wanted 2K to do since EA and the NFL began sucking one another off. It probably wouldn't sell very well. It would probably do less than APF2K8 which sold very poorly. It's no secret that having a known and current NFL star and official logos on your cover helps sell your game.

The last NFL2k game was the last NFL game I bought. Never been a fan of madden.

And it was only 19.99 new too! Forced Madden 2005 to lower their price to 29.99. Then late that year they gobbled up exclusive rights and MSRP went back up to 49.99 the next year.

I don't blame the NFL for wanting the price war around their brand to die. There's more gamer-friendly ways they could have gone about it though (pricing guidelines etc).

Madden 25, on ANY console, was a buggy, janky mess and should not have been deemed "next-gen" at all, and NBA Live should've never released, period. There's no defending that game.

100% chance we will see another Nba Live this year? Na, don't bet on it IMO. All last years game did after being delayed for years was tarnish the brand further, its sales prove that, patches or updates be damned.

Point is, we need anyone else to challenge EA Sports in making NFL games, but the stupid contract wont allow that.

Look at whats happened in the sports genre of games. The ONLY MLB game now is "The Show" because 2K didn't want to renew their contract or w/e. The only NBA game over the last couple years has been from 2K due to critical and commercial success so EA backed out of NBA for a bit and came back worse than they were before.

It kind of sucks its this way IMO

NBA 2k14 was a buggy janky mess and the last few iterations of the MLB 2k games should not have been released on any console. I'm not trying to defend EA I'm just saying that the companies are a lot more similar than people will admit. People seem to think that if 2k got the nfl license back the 2k Sports of 2004 would magically reappear and the last few years of buggy, janky games don't matter.

Would be nice, but I'll wait for something more official.

Remember, TTWO had a big influx of cash with GTAV, so a move on the exclusive NFL license is not out of the question.

Oh yes, I definitely agree with you there, which is why all this "contract" stuff is ridiculous garbage when it comes to these licenses. I would only want 2K to get some NFL rights back so we can have better competition, and therefore, better games :/

2k basically killed off there own brand by making the game so cheap. The NFL didn't take kindly to there brand being cheapened.

One of the reasons the NFL went exclusive to EA.
And 2k5 was good but not the end all be all of football games like ppl make it out to be.

Back when the deal was announced about the EA extending its license with the NFL didn't a bunch of us notice that the wording seemed a bit weird and no longer implied exclusivity?

I wouldn't be shocked, Goodell wants that money from everybody and anybody who's got it.
