Youtuber claims his credible source with no facts says 2K will announce NFL2K at E3

HipHopGamer says a lot of things. Like NBA Live 2014 is going to blow 2K14 out of the water.

Hiphopgamer is...IMO not very credible at all. The guy told gamers his sources told him the PS4 was going to have launch titles that would rival Avatar.(and I don't mean game lol)

This would be freakin' awesome. I wonder if the Madden sales have been steadily declining year over year. If this is the case, perhaps EA worked out a deal to share/distribute the license for video games. No a bad move for EA, if it makes them money.

I could actually see EA losing the exclusivity license. Madden sales have gone down dramatically over the past few years which can make neither EA or the NFL happy.

That's actually not true. I've brought this up several, but this is from the assistant executive director of external affairs of the NFLPA did

Q:
George, I wanted to ask you about the madden exclusive license. Do you plan to end this soon? The the 9-yr exclusive license ends this year and the fans are sick and tired of not having a choice of picking a nfl game to play. Madden is becoming stale and the community wants 2k sports to have a chance to make video games again. Nfl 2k5 was the best representation of the nfl to this date.... Please make this happen Mr. Atallah. Thanks for your time

A:
We have an agreement with EA and Madden. I have heard some opinions like yours, but honestly, EA is one of our best partners. I know they hear some of your input as well and work to improve the game every year.

Q:
Sorry Mr. Atallah, but I will not purchase another ea nfl licensed game until the consumers are ale to have a choice again. The consumers should be in your best interest sir.

A:
I'm sorry to hear that. One thing to clarify though, my job and the job of the NFLPA, is to ensure that the players' interests are top priority. I know that might not be the most popular answer, but it's our mission.

I looked for EA's announcement regarding their new deal... and this guy is right - no new mention of "exclusivity" which one would think would be frequently boasted by EA if they had secured it again... there is also something about Peter Moore being pressured into what exactly their agreement with the NFL is and the conversation going nowhere ...

I can understand if 2K is able to make a game now, why they wouldn't have announced it up to this point. (For those of you thinking this rumor is fake because nothing has been said)
EA's announcement of their deal with the NFL came at the very end of January - meaning 2K would have around 7 months to secure contracts with the NFL and NFLPA, all the while getting the band back together, and of course making a new game from scratch. In other words... there won't be a game until 2015. 2K knows their fans are loyal and have been looking forward to this for a long time, so in the interest of remaining interesting, they aren't going to leak online one day that "Hey guys, we're back! See you in a year and a half!"

If I were them, I would do what they are (hopefully) going to do and blow it up at e3.

It would be awesome if 2K could make a football game based on all the retired/hall of fame players just to show up EA where the fanbase can create actual up to date rosters for the game as well. I'm sure the retired players would love this considering they get the shaft from EA and forced them to remove their likeliness from Madden.

Right, so there is a deal in place, but not exclusive games?

Would be interesting to see it get announced just to see how it happens.

Microsoft show is the safe bet because MS has that big $400m NFL deal but they are also in with EA for a couple of hundred million and EA hates, hates HATES! 2K sports.

Having a EA sports spot during the show hen later a NFL2k spot during the same conference would be pretty funny. It would be like the time they had RockBand and Guitar Hero on the same show and it was just awkward.

Heck last year they bumped COD off the show to make room for Battlefield and Titanfall to kind of avoid the same mess.

They could get away with just dropping a teaser trailer any time they want though. Maybe stage time is a little much.

If true this would be the last year of Madden selling well ever again. Maybe they'll actually put some real effort in the player A.I. for once.

Simfballcritic is well known and respected in the sim football community on Youtube. I'm just curious as to whether or not anyone else has heard anything like this?

As far as I know and according to this...

http://www.pastapadre.com/2014/01/28/ea-has-the-nfl-license-secured-for-at-least-a-few-more-years

EA still has it locked up for a bit longer. In the video he mentions how the source is saying the deal EA has is no longer to make the only NFL exclusive title. Insinuating the deal is something else entirely.

Finding this hard to believe and I won't hold my breath. Madden needs competition. EA have made minimal(I want to say none from a gameplay standpoint but that would be a lie)changes to the overall mechanics and Madden still looks and feels like an arcade game than simulation football.

IcyRythms is member on Gaf? legit shook.

I kind of wish, but after 2k's most recent efforts, I would approach with trepidation regardless.

Still, the competition would be good.

Right, so there is a deal in place, but not exclusive games?

Just no mention of exclusivity. Also, the news that EA still has deals with the NFL and NFLPA in place shouldn't come as a blow to any 2K fans - because any video game company has to secure these deals before they can make an NFL game.

The biggest red herring here is that this news came through an investor call with CEO Andrew Wilson, rather than a public announcement. When EA locked up the exclusivity deal, there was a public announcement. This time around - nothing. They probably feel (as they should) that there is no point in revealing that they lost the exclusivity deal unless they are pressed.

Right, so there is a deal in place, but not exclusive games?

Right. Publisher have to have a license deal to create sports games regardless. EA had a additional Exclusive deal until this last season.

The only "news" so far is they renew the License deal (To make NFL games). They have been curiously silent on a renewed exclusive deal.

That, plus rumors of 2K doing MoCap with NFL players, is what is giving this return of NFL2K rumor legs

Is 2k sports even good anymore?

people shit on EA for madden being stale while mlb2k was actually insultingly awful for years. 2k knew they were the only option on the 360 and figured only a moron would buy mlb2k instead of The Show on the ps3.

Nintendo funding NFL 2k14 for Wii U confirmed?

I think it's insane Nintendo doesn't make a MLB game given they're allowed to as a console manufacturer and own a MLB team.

As for why 2K wouldn't mention the game being made yet, the obvious answer would be that its nowhere near ready. The most ideal scenario to its existence would be a reveal this year at E3 and a release in Fall 2015.

But an E3 reveal this year doesn't really make much sense either because 2K doesn't have any presence outside of Sony doing NBA 2K stuff at their E3 presser for multiple years now. So I guess maybe this year they can do the reveal for a classic, long dormant, once Sega published franchise that made its debut on the Dreamcast making a glorious comeback.

Could be an NCAA game. NFL is not going to happen.

I might be in the minority here, but this would excite me more. In college football games it can be fun to take some small school I have never heard of and try to build them up to a national power, in NFL football the only team I have interest in playing is the Seattle Seahawks.

Could you imagine the modern equivalent of NFL2K in the Dreamcast's launch days? I'll consider it a pipe dream until I have a reason to believe otherwise, but man, it would be amazing. Madden's got me really missing competition in the genre.

EA's MVP Baseball was even worse.

NBA2K14 was infinitely better received than NBA Live so I think they are trending in the right direction.
