It's a pretty bad trailer, fundamentally. It's over 2 minutes long but demonstrates almost none of the plot. Robin Williams' character seems to be pretty one-note. He's manic and he's always falling apart. That's only going to be funny a couple times, and they went passed that threshold in the trailer alone.

And how many ass jokes did the trailer have? *sigh*

We couldn't call her Aunt Booty!

I'm sold.

Plot looks pretty standard:

Robot goes to the city to make big, meets wacky characters, and foils a dastardly plan.

It was all there.

All these cg movies seem the same. The mannerisms of the characters are always the same, it always has the same humor, and blah. Im tired of it already.

Looks okay. It's so hard for me to get excited about non Pixar animated features.
The only one I've really liked outside of them is Shrek 2.

When will they make mature, action full-lengthed CG films??? (Like Final Fantasy, but good)... Imagine a bloody ninja movie or even a superhero movie using badass CG?? They could push for a PG-13 rating to try to go for a mass appeal.

Well, there's your answer -- Final Fantasy scared most studios away from the idea. There was a French movie called Kaena that came out this year, and wasn't supposed to be that good -- it barely got released in theaters here.

Yeah, they are starting to blend together in a sense. The only reason I'm very mildly interested in this movie, is because Amanda Bynes is in it.

"We sir..."..."I'm a Woman"

Was the best part of the trailer...but it's all just too damn formulaic for me...the Madagascar trailer is exactly the same way. Neither look genuinely bad, but they do nothing to interest me. At least neither are full of nothing but pop culture.

Nice, Robots. Sounds like an obvious cash in. So cliche already. Star voices, a brand new adventure in an unknown world, annoying fast talking actor past his prime looking for success in CG... Not to mention the metallic look is fairly easy to do in CG. They're just not impressive visuals. Pixar is the only one making well rounded CG flicks. They have plot, they're funny but that's not the point of the movie, they're brilliantly animated(fur in Monster's Inc., Ocean in Finding Nemo). But this is what we're getting from now on I guess. I hope Brad Bird goes back to hand animated stuff after The Incredibles. I can't wait for this movie but The Iron Giant was amazing. I also heard he had a lot of projects already thought up and the artwork. One, very Ren and Stimpy like art. Pixar was thinking about opening up a hand animated division headed under Brad Bird possibly following their collaboration on The Incredible. I think that would be a great idea to use the Pixar name and keep 2D animation alive

My main problem with it. I actually like the design of the film, but I'm not convinced it'll be very good.

But if they put plot points in, there wouldn't be enough time for the 30 different 4-second jokes!

It will hit it's target audience though, my 8 year old nephew never tires of butt jokes. everytime I see him I have to make another - his all-time favorite was:

What sport does your butthole play? ---------- Dookieball. yeah, I know.

I admit I did like Monster's Inc. and I've only seen a bug's life once, but I don't care for the Toy Stories.

Why? Ice Age was fine. Granted, it was just Monsters, Inc. + Dinosaur, but at least it was entertaining and wasn't totally formula (80% maybe, but not completely nonetheless)

Still looks retarded. All that's revealed about the plot is that he goes to the big city and then they keep calling him a hero... uh huh. The characters and humor seem rather grating as well. I love Robin Williams, but his voice here is borderline obnoxious.

The Romanow thing has to do with his sitcom being an absolute bore more than Ice Age itself.

It was just a bit too formulaic for me...and their need to inclue the squirrel thing simply for laughs was idiotic. Plain and simple.

I recall the producer of the game saying that the movie studio was going to spend more money to promote it than any other in it's history. yes, more than Star Wars.

I'm not sure you can blame Final Fantasy for every CG movie going after kids.

I think its more likely that you average Studio exec, ably supported by brainless marketing types, simply assumes that Animation=Children. Thats it.

Oh, I'm not denying that that's the case -- but Final Fantasy was pretty effective at keeping things from changing anytime soon.

Yes, I guess it helped cement their prejudices.

But what with Lord of the Rings shoiwing the power of the geek $, I think its time someone tried a 'mature' animated movie (which almost by definition would mean CG these days) - doesn't have to cost 8 trillion dollars like FF

IAWTP. Hopefully The Incredibles changes this (although the plot already seems conventional).
