Zombi U pics + footage

Am I the only one that noticed that the door lock he was picking was actually a chubb lock but then magically it turns into a yale lock?

To me the game has that "everything looks too big" look that BioShock had, in my opinion. Not literally everything, but items the player can pick up just look oddly bigger than they should.

Other than that, game looks decent and I will probably be purchasing if it doesn't turn into a red steel situation.

I don't think there's online play. I watched the 15 min walkthrough and when asked about multi-player a couple times she mentioned how you can leave notes for other players later on in the game. Seems like if there was online play like TDM and other modes she would have said "yeah there's online competitive modes". Online MP prob would've just been tacked on and barebones anyway since it's a launch game and there's a rush to get it out.

They could just tack on an online co-op mode similar to L4D and it would work well.

Footage is looking real nice.

I do have a feeling the gamepad features do more to distract and annoy me than add to the experience, personally.

I think one of the 8-4 guys played an online match in Zombie-U at e3.

In this game they’ve designed everything around that distraction though, so while you do things on the gamepad screen, the view changes to 3rd person on the TV, showing if any zombies are moving towards you. It’s a very clever idea, and it really immerses you in the game as you look down at your gamepad screen, but constantly have to have an eye on the big screen as well.. Is someone coming? Will I make it in time? I feel that they are handling this almost perfectly in Zombi U. I thought it felt a little more disconnected to the game experience in Batman AC:AE. My advice is to keep it simple, don’t use every feature at once, and only use it when it improves the game. I have a feeling we’ll see a lot of games with keypad locks on Wii U this coming year :P

The footage looks good. I remember not being too impressed with the footage out of E3. Has it gotten better or are they just showing more interesting bits? Maybe its because the footage isn't great quality but I didn't notice as many bad textures this time.

Still the game doesn't have that "wow" factor that I want from next-gen games. In fact, no Wii U games have given me that sense yet. Hopefully there will be something at the Wii U launch that does.

Characters and animation could be better but overall it's a decent looking game I think. And it actually does a better job of showing off the capabilites of the hardware (controller included) than anything Nintendo has shown so far.

Perhaps it's just me. But neither the Epic UE4 demo nor Star Wars 1313 'wowed' me.

No you’re not, if you’re setting your source resolution higher than your display resolution you’re in fact losing detail, so you’re really playing at sub-1080 resolution.

It's called downsampling ma friend. :D It's actually there to achieve those bullshot quailty you see on the Ubi shots.

Holy shit this looks so much better than the E3 build I played at E3 =-O Guys playing this game is a very scary experience, if they manage to improve the graphics like that, this will be the must have wii u launch game

Depends. Running at a power of 2 res higher is basically the equivalent of MSAA. Running at 1080 on a 720 screen or something like that will introduce bad artifacts.

Well, no one does that.
It's still a bit mind boggling that in a thread in 2012 720p/30FPS is been seen as the new "holy grail". Where were you guys the past six years? Wii only? Also, if graphics don't matter at all, why are you so excited about a normal to decent looking game? I don't understand Nintendo or Nintendo Fans anymore. :( It makes no sense.

What I dont understand is the short term memory everyone has with Xbox and PS3 launch titles.

People are excited because they think the footage looks nice, runs smooth, and most importantly, looks like a good game with a good challenge.

No one expects really nice looking games to run at 1080p on WiiU because they've been paying attention? What does Wii only have to do with it? Very few games ran 1080 native on PS360, and they tended to be either very basic or racing games.

Heck very few games ran at native 720p on PS360.

Big improvement! This game really brings the WOW factor that I want from truly great games. I'll wait until I've played it before making a final judgement though.

Gameplay from the IGN walkthrough looked pretty nice. Funny how people call bullshots when they could just see the videos and decide from that.

And the video doesn't look anything like the quality of those images. Ubisoft is well known for always using bullshots for all their games.

What looks "very rough around the edges" in them?

First shot looks very impressive, the lighting is amazing. Second looks spectacular. Third one is decent.

Second one looks great. The hand-textures are bad, but the rest is wow. The face especially, look at those eyes.

Still looking good. I don't see big improvements over the E3 build though but maybe my memory is just hazy.

It's like this thread goes in circles.

I always loved this theory. If someone doesn't put graphics first, they can't enjoy good graphics?

Every time I see video of this game in action it makes me crave it and a Wii U so much. Just take my money Ubi and Nintendo

Game looks cool, but without multiplayer it may have to be a rental for me. I'm just not sure I'd want to replay it after beating it once.

I suppose I can rent it first and then buy it if it turns out to have more legs.

I vaguely remember someone posting during E3 that he talked to a Ubisoft rep, and that guy said they'd show a new built with improved lighting at Gamescom - so I guess that's the one we're seeing here. Anyway:

Credit goes to force143 (Consolewars). Only differences seem to be some lighting and filter tweaks and improved character models/ textures.

Just to show off the excellent lighting found in the game. Can be added to OP if desired.

Thanks for the link btw wsippel, should post it in the WU Community thread too.

But do a great job showing how its been touched up

edit: opening in new tab shows differences well, thanks

Thanks for the post! Pretty awesome how a few small tweaks can make a big difference.
