Zombies ate my Neighbors coming to switch

Excited Winona Ryder GIF by reactionseditor

Hella unexpected announcement. There's a sequel too, how have I never heard of this?

Let's fucking go! That giant baby level fucked me up so many times.

I somehow missed this game when i had my snes and megadrive, but recently seen a article in retro gamer magazine and quickly got both games onto my retro pie arcade, i prefer the first game to the follow up ghoul patrol, just hope they a reasonable priced on the switch considering this game could have just been put on the snes collection u get free for nintendo membership, just a shame they didnt do a remaster of the games since it the developer that done streets of rage 4 that helped disney bring this out for the switch

Loved the game as a kid. Still can hum some of the music. Never played the sequel, I did hear it wasn't quite as good. Looking forward to it, I hope it's reasonably priced though as I don't think I'd pay more than $15/20 for both games.

Fantastic news. One of my favorite games on Snes. Haven't played the sequel so it's a nice bonus. Switch is the ultimate retro gaming machine. Fucking love it.

It is one of the games from the SNES that genuinely still hold up, today.

Have been playing this with my GF for a while (online & emulated) - can recommend, it's a blast.

Massive nostalgia for the first few levels of ZAMN. But if I'm being honest, it sort of a shitty game. The game is full of cheap hits and obtuse design choices. I have played it recently on snes, and I love the music and aesthetic. Gameplay just doesn't hold up.

Awesome that this is getting released.
Sucks that it's not part of the SNES subscription.

This will be a painful reminder of how easy games have become - this game's difficulty is certainly not for the faint of heart (very typical difficulty level for it's time).

Yeah the game is a complete dick and I don't think I ever got super far in the game, but playing those first few levels was fun by itself, especially co-op.

Wish it was something new though...

Me too, but because I'm kind of with Rubik8 Rubik8 that ZAMN is... kind of a butthole. (I didn't play Ghoul Patrol but I know a lot of people found something was off in the sequel.) Great atmosphere and a fun spirit, good fun to play (especially in co-op) for a little while but then the clumsy controls and lack of maneuvering in the scale of the graphics drained your life away.

Even back in the day, I always wished the games had shooting controls instead of the shoot-where-you-look system. That was always the worst way to control walk-around shooters, even in games I like such as Gauntlet or The Chaos Engine. I don't know if ZAMN needed to be a dual-stick shooter, but it could have used something. Ikari Warriors had dial-aim, and they could have use that on the shoulders here, or there could have at least been a lock-direction feature so you could keep shooting in a direction while walking backwards. Anything would have been better than the frustrating "run, then tap-back-and-spray, then RUN!" (and ZAMN had you moving fully while shooting, so you had to walk towards the enemy coming at you at least a step in order to shoot at them.) It's telling that this spiritual successor finally has independent aiming and moving, I hope Demons Ate My Neighbors is good so I can finally enjoy one of these games the way I always wished they played.

Still, these are fun games to pull out of the vaults, at least. Kudos to the fans keeping ZAMN alive. This release is coming out of nowhere, but it's cool to see it happen.

I never owned it, but I rented this game like 10 times as a kid. I doubt it holds up, but I might check it out on a sale for nostalgia's sake.

As a kid my friend and I would always get so far but eventually hit a wall. I think the keys became almost impossible to get more of. Never was able to beat it lol

Ghoul Patrol was a little more loose of a game, everything felt less refined and kinda slapped together.

That said, I'd like to play through both of these again.

Not much improvements though no?
I love this game and I'm glad it's been re-released but for $14.99.

Widescreen support?
4 Player Coop?
Online play?

Oh well it's better than nothing I suppose. Will get it on sale down the line I'd say,

At first I thought they might do repros of the SNES games but it'll most likely be PS4 and switch physical versions.
