Zwei: Ilvard Insurrection (PC, XSEED, Falcom ARPG) now coming in Fall, + new website

I might be mistaken, but I think modifying the |OT| thing for official threads is against the rules/standards for official threads. At the very least I'm pretty sure I've seen things like that shot down before.
If it was fine to have no space after |OT| you would put the wo outside of that. Hell, maybe even with a space it could look OK.

Not bad, except I don't want to give any lurkers/posters the slightest impression of Switch here.

I think |OT2| would confuse some people. Let's go with |OTwo| since that still fits the pun.

I swear, rabid Switch fans are the worst since "Everything must have Souls-combat" rabid Souls fans. :-P

Umm, OT ideas:

Zwei: Ilvard Insurrection |OTwo| A Neck-biting Gourmet Adventure

Zwei: Ilvard Insurrection |OT| Easy as Pie
Zwei: Ilvard Insurrection |OT| You are what you eat
Zwei: Ilvard Insurrection |OT| Alwen's Movable Feast

I dunno I'm kinda hungry right now okay

Thank you for bringing this up. I've got an alternate version of the tag I'd like to use, but I'll PM a mod about this since policy comes before puns.

Really curious about this game. A quick glance would be a pass for me as it looks like a 3DS game..... But it's falcom.
Well, they made it three years for weak PCs before the 3DS launched, and the game's designed around controls which work well on keyboard + mouse and gamepad. It's definitely a top-line Falcom game for its era, and I'd say it still looks cool.

In related news, the team working on an English patch for Zwei!! gave me and some others a beta to test. They may or may not have time to distribute a release candidate before Ilvard Insurrection launches, so I'm taking my time on this one.

A bunch of portrait text, save data, and certain graphics need tweaking for English, but the NPC/story stuff's all there now. So far it's a surprisingly tough game unless you down all your healing items per each dungeon run...I'm trying to save up for the food exchange and to get more money for equipment.

A website should be up soon with a download link for the patch installer. It's definitely not as polished as the final version would be, but if you want to play it before the release of Zwei: The Ilvard Insurrection (i.e. Zwei II) it'll be sufficient. For the final version, we need to fix up some untranslated (but non-essential) text, redo certain graphics with correct romanizations and do a quick QA pass on the script to fix occasional spelling/grammar issues and two or three cases of text leaving the box/getting cut off. You can still play the game in English start to finish as is, and the experience will be mostly the same.

The beta's pretty rough, with lots of text overflows in the data books (quite a few of those, even for a Falcom adventure), place warp titles still in Japanese, and much inconsistency between original location graphics and the new titles (compare Kayapa Forest to Caiaphas, or Spryi to Supiri Labyrinth). But it's a fun game so far, warts and all, and the dungeon floors themselves are pre-designed and usually have something to teach you or a variation worth playing.

Didn't know anything about this game until I saw this thread. Put it immediately on my Steam wishlist. Game looks like it oozes that adventurous charm I'd see in Mega Man Legends, Grandia, etc. Can't wait!

Agreed.

Legends seems like a good reference point since Ilvard has as much detail and humor (and more) as Kattelox Island. The dungeon crawling's meatier in this one, but that doesn't limit the story and snark.

Oooh, nice.

Was already hyped for it from the E3 thread and liking Falcom ARPGs but that just adds on too :)

I know Steamspy isn’t reliable for the first few days and under a certain number but the first days sales of this game are saddening :( XSeeD ports and localizations seem to fail pretty badly on Steam.

Now that I've been summoned, maybe it's time to wear the Gallandeau avatar for a mask.

If sales were actually bad for XSEED's own finances, they would have stopped at Xanadu Next. Thinking in depth about what happened to this game's release timing, I suspect this was, sadly, the best chance to release the project and move on. Delaying it a second time would have pissed away the goodwill of fans who have bought it on Day 1. Releasing it in a likely less-than-playable state back in summer would have ruined the game's reputation and chances for discussion in the West (and XSEED would look hypocritical since they're vocal about testing games thoroughly before launch). The silver linings so far are more reviews than usual for a obscure Falcom release (because the game featured at E3) and more chances for deep discounts which still pay out for XSEED. I think it'll sell much better once they time a sale with Sara's 60-FPS-visuals upgrade for the game.

I've heard Trails of Nayuta is basically Zwei III. How true is that?
Both games have you eat to gain EXP, treasure/fossil collecting for a local museum, distinct stages in dungeons with completion ranks, two swap-able fighter characters with unique abilities, colorful art style and music, a lot of gear/accessories to equip, and the usual well-designed Falcom boss fights and levels. Zwei: II differs in that it's mostly an upgrade and iteration on its prequel, Zwei!!, which fixes pretty much of the first game's issues while adding new mechanics and a more detailed, loopy story.
