Interesting, they wanted to air on 11pm JST at first, but decided to delay it...

EDIT: ah got ninja'd by previous page lol

So something has to be ready after this Direct. Firmware, eshop or mobile app?

Isn't DKCR:TF releasing tomorrow in Japan? I think that they will not only show a launch trailer of the game, but also reveal a DK-related Smash Bros. 4 character; presumeably Diddy, but he is a veteran and IIRC they used the Directs to show new characters - so Dixie?

No matter what, I'm sure a new Smash Bros. character will be revealed

They used Directs to casually reveal Luigi and Sonic so it wouldn't be beyond them to announce veterans.

As much as I want to see my main o.g. Diddy in action again I kind of hope Sakurai has something more exciting in store.

IIRC they've showed Luigi, Sonic, and Rosalina at Directs. Diddy wouldn't be unprecedented, but Dixie seems like a definite possibility.

I think you just illustrated exactly why I should continue to set my expectations low ;P

But yeah, it's not that I don't think they can't have surprises, it's just I can't expect anything but the most tepid of announcements. I hope I am wrong though. I'd love to be. I appreciate the Wii U, but without significant changes, I can't imagine how dire the future will be for us owners.

I agree with you almost 99.9%, but remember, we did have a few interesting announcements and new trailers in last year's 2013 January Direct. Nothing major, but it was a pretty fun direct.

Not expecting much here.

Tropical Freeze Launch Trailer and explanations. Maybe a TF-related reveal for Smash.
New Mario Kart trailer
Kirby release date for the West
New Yoshi's New Island trailer
Maybe SMTIV for Europe
Another Layton x AA trailer
For Pokémon, a western reveal of Diancie and a hint at the content it might unlock in X and Y.
Maybe a couple of vaguely interesting 3DS reveals- nothing too megaton-y, but interesting at least.

By the way, who is Soraya?

This person?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soraya_Saga

That's the one. Her retweeting of the announcement for last January's Direct was what really set the hype on fire for that one.

What if they announced an "N64 Gold Collection" featuring both retail and online HD releases of some of the N64's best games:

Super Mario 64
Pokemon Pak (Pokemon Snap and Pokemon Stadium)
Ocarina / Majora combo pack
Rare Shooter collection (Goldeneye / Perfect Dark)
Turok Triliogy
Kong Kollection (Donkey Kong 64 and Diddy Kong Racing)

I still dream that they do this one day...I know some licensing / rights issues would come up but I just loved the N64 so much...

That would be glorious.

Mhm, seems kind of I misremembered those reveals; so yeah, Diddy might be revealed since they revealed Sonic when Lost Worlds was shown

Right there with you man.

Or fucking Cranky Kong.
I really want to see more about Mario Kart 8 roster and tracks, specially the returning ones.

Nintendo have uploaded a bunch of 'New owners manual' videos on YouTube for the 3DS. I wonder why. Just goes through basic stuff like built in apps like face raiders and the activity log. Random.

Let's GO!

So after the Hyrule Warriors reveal, what's next?

- Pokemon Dating Simulator by the Love Plus team?
- Takamura's Bloody Castle by Team Ninja?
- Ultra Metroid by Armature Studios?
- Captain Falcon Action game by Platinum Games?
- Nintendo x Capcom?

Place yo bets!

I REALLY hope they touch on those GBA VC games they promised.

its nice to want things

i've been disappointed for a years worth of directs about gba games. at this point i'm just considering the idea a wacky dream i had one time.

I hate to use the term but Nintendo needs a Megaton. Earthbound, Capcom vs Nintendo, something people have been wanting for ages.

I know :(

lol. Ever since Capcom remade Ducktales I've been wishing for a Little Nemo announcement every fucking day! Hopefully we can at least get it on the VC one day. Never happened on the Wii though.
Well you're in luck, DuckTales Remastered sold much better than Capcom anticipated, which pretty much means Capcom is more likely to remaster more classic Disney games.

The thing is, Chip n' Dale (& Darkwing Duck) are probably next in line for the Remastered treatment.
