Serious question. After all the disappointments how is it that Nintendo Directs can still excite like this?

No other company is able to cause this reaction I think.

Some people act like certain bad things haven't had happen. Like they haven't been disappointed before. However time and time again people go crazy in these threads. Why?

Seems to me they usually hold their Zelda cards close to the chest until E3. Sometimes concept art gets released, but no screens that I can recall.

Because Nintendo Directs usually have one or two interesting new bits of information and some trailers of anticipated games, and once or twice a year will contain some major announcements. People like to hear about announcements on video game forums.

It would be one thing if the game quality had been dipping during this 'downward spiral' but between Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Pikmin 3, TW101, Super Mario 3D World, LoZ: A Link Between Worlds, WWHD, Pokemon XY, Nintendo's been doing pretty good software wise. As a gamer and a fan, it's hard not to be excited. Sales are not unimportant, but they don't affect my enjoyment or anticipation of Directs.

Because they announce cool things during directs. That doesn't seem too difficult to understand.

Ninty's been on the decline for a while now, true. Still we believe in them through all the disappointment because they've brought us some of the most amazing games in our lifetimes. I get excited when Nintendo Directs come or when they do E3 because I have faith that they'll deliver.

Its people own fault if they get disappointed for having unrealistic expectations, but really look the last ND in Dec had Hyrule Warriors, two new unannounced eshop games that got released before the end of the year, a new Smash Bros trailer with a brand new character and Wii Sports Club Golf released.

This time we have retweets from somebody who only retweeted twice and both times we saw X. Then we get retweets from Platinum games people who dont ever retweet ND's, if thats not enough for people to get hyped then what is?
