The Order 1886 Gameplay Footage

The thing is, they showed a 20 minute demo, but only gave 2 minutes to press (of which a lot of is cutscenes)

And by the sound of it, it was not polished footage. They should just release al 20mins of it but I would not be suprised if it did not constuct of much new stuff.

Edit: i want to see explosions and the metal bending stuff that was talked about. I love every non shooting bit of footage, but when it comes to shooting bit, "why are they even showing it" comes to mind

My man! I love qte's, they let you do things that you couldn't accomplish through conventional gameplay.

Or you could design good inverse kinetmatic/animation heavy gameplay which allows you to do those things more naturally instead of losing camera and character control.

Looks cool to me. Shame how people so easily dismiss games.

Setting is the most important part of any game (or TV show, movie etc) to me. If the setting is unappealing, I don't care about anything else.

It's the same reason I haven't bothered with Skyrim or Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones despite everyone saying they're amazing. I just can't look at orcs and elves and wizards without rolling my eyes.

Is this all we're gonna get today? Well my feelings about the game haven't really changed, good graphics but formulaic and unoriginal gameplay, at least going by what's been shown so far.

Which is a shame imo, since the setting, to me, seems to be begging for a semi-open world a la Deus Ex, while this seems a straight-up Gears of War clone (witch a much more appealing setting admittedly).

Looks like Ryse of War: 1886. The gameplay and creative direction so far has shown zero justification for the black bars, but feel free to steampunk me. The visuals and gameplay seem like they'd lose nothing if it was full screen unless framerate is the reason.

The character models look great though. Atmosphere seems top notch as well although using that much fog and darkness reminds me of Silent Hill and Doom 3, for better or for worse.

"Concerns" are one thing coming from gamers that have, want or are planning on gettign a PS4 to play the game, but the random drive by comments and fud are embarrassing at times. They need to actually show us gameplay footage to get a better idea of how it plays, by just posting that the game is an ugly Gears clone, QTE fest does not add anythign to the conversation..

We can only offer our opinions on what we are shown. Sure, all we've seen is less than a minute of footage, but that's the footage they've decided to show us, and that's what we've every right to came to a conclusion on.

The gameplay footage so far, while short, strikes me as lacking in inspired game design and being way too evocative of any run-of-the-mill cover shooter of the past generation. The QTE looks scripted to hell and back.

This is not fanboy crap. This is simply what I think of what I've seen, and I'm perfectly entitled to say what I think of what I've seen.

"ugly Gears clone, QTE fest" is just you trying to sensationalize and generalize criticism.

I am fucking confused. Is this what we were waiting the whole day, or are we going to finally see a single comprehensive trailer?

This "blowout" is too fragmented.

You sure found a nice way to make mashing the melee button and watching repetitive animations sound exciting.

This is a shooter, not Bayonetta.

At least we know the cityscape at the beginning of the gameplay footage is 100% in game. That looks pretty incredible to me. Well, there is no need to be concerned about the visuals. Framerate though needs to be smooth at least....

I am really loosing track of all these threads.

Am I right that we haven't seen new footage since yesterday? Or do these clips show something new somewhere?

Same here, what the hell...which is what, who did what now...?

I will wait to see the official one, hopefully we get more and better quality...

I still like the setting, and the character models are impressive, but otherwise the rest, mainly environments are about on par with what we've already seen from other games.

It's also probably due to the overall "dark" mood and lighting of the levels shown there, but right now the environments are a bit uneventful from a graphical standpoint.

Also I'm not really interested by what we're seeing of the gameplay, at this point. Still an early demo though.

How did you come to the conclusion that the gameplay is formulaic and unoriginal before today?

Some ugly characters filled with Heavy Rain QTE's, I'll pass.

I'm generalizing the multiple threads on the game I've been browsing the past couple days. I'm really not sure why this game has been so polorizing with the comments that have been thrown around in the multiple threads. Personally, I really need to see more of the gameplay to make a full judgement on it, but that's just me. Many have deemed the game ugly, uninspired etc from a very short clip and if they can deduct what the entire game is from the clip, well, then, not much I can say to that, that's like their opinion man... so be it.

They aren't hanging their hat on the gameplay. If anything, Sony has taught us in the last generation that gameplay isn't as important as the "cinematic experience". Remember how big FPS games were last generation on consoles? That's going to be the "cinematic experience" this gen. It's the new fad. I have a feeling this is where the consoles are going to be going this generation.

You have that and what Naughty Dog has done. Sony's first party output is much more focused on the "cinematic experience" than at any time in Sony's publishing history. This is even going further down that rabbit hole. I'm not saying these are bad games so you don't need to infer anything more than what I've stated. The focus of Sony's first party is much more on the cinematic experience than any game system or mastery of said systems. You can like that but I don't.

You're talking shit. Naughty Dog don't sacrifice gameplay for story; they balance the two better than any other developer in the world. At no point did The Last of Us forego gameplay for the sake of its narrative, and games like Uncharted 2 and 3 had you actually playing through amazing sections like leaping from a falling building as it collapsed, or running through a ship as it capsized and flooded, while lesser developers would have probably reduced those sections to a non-interactive cutscene.

And besides, even if we do include the four Naughty Dog games to support your point, you need more than six games to prove your point of a trend occuring across an entire generation.

I'm really looking forward to this game, but that gameplay trailer... sigh

I'm not talking about the gameplay but the location. They choose the most narrow corridor section I've ever seen to reveal the game to us. Who was it that decided that was a great idea ? Hopefully, other gameplay segments are going to be released to show us London.

So many Order threads...

is there any uncut video without commentary?

I guess the Sony haters are in full force after that 5.3 million.

? Is this necessary.

People should be allowed to express their lack of interest in a game without being pigeon holed into some fantasy war between video game consoles.

The game looks good visually, but gameplay wise it looks very 'safe', and I was hoping for more with the big next gen titles.

Well, that was a disappointing trailer.

I loved the E3 2013 trailer, I've watched it many times. It was very well done - atmospheric, introduced a bunch of new characters and explained the story line.

I don't understand the point of today's trailer, as it adds nothing new to what we already knew. We didn't see any new characters, no new story points, no gameplay.

The visuals still look gorgeous, but there was too much hype over what turned out to be a boring trailer.

Let's hope the framerate isn't utter shit in The Order 1886 like it is in Ryse. The fact it loads seamlessly between cutscenes and gameplay is positive as well.

Kotaku has a story up with RAD head saying
Their goal was 30 all along as it fit to what they wanted to go for in terms of cinematic feel. It uses 4x Multisampling AA something like that also.
