And I doubt cover based shooting is how you fight halfbreeds =)
I doubt that too. Unless they start shooting fireballs DOOM style.

This is the game that has me interested in a PS4 but the gameplay they showed really didn't do too much for me. I'm still excited for it and expect it to be good, just need to see some better stuff from it.

It's hardly a QTE. Maybe it's the setting, but it feels more like playing out a Sherlock Holmes type analytical combat sequence. 'Where's the best area to target', 'Target ____', 'Countered, so I target ____'.
It isn't simply a "HEY, QUICK, PRESS __". So it is sort of revolutionary within the QTE combat concept. And, as I've said before, I'd prefer it over 'Tap Square until the enemy is dead' which most melee combat in a shooter devolves into. Heck, it's less of a QTE than most games.
no, because no one is saying this will be the best tps ever. we are saying to wait until e3 or until a proper gameplay walkthrough is shown because we've only seen what amounts to 20 seconds of gameplay. we are not the ones jumping to ridiculous conclusions like "that's the whole game there's nothing left to show, ryse of ps4, heavy rain qte fest, so generic and boring and stale, i've played that before a million times, etc."And the people trying to combat the naysayers need to realize that defending a game based on 5 seconds of gameplay is equally as absurd as being turned off by it.
I'm convinced that you're not very bright. Maybe you should sit this one out going forward.
That really would be a flop in the making though. You can't make a cinematic experience and have the majority of it be focused on exploration since that naturally slows everything down, especially when it's a TPS. The meat of it all has to be in the gunplay and enemy encounters. The challenge for the developers then is to keep the combat continuously interesting and fun for players without feeling boring or repetitive. If they achieve the latter then it's not an issue.

We aren't "defending on 5 seconds of gameplay", we are defending the game based on the premise that we already know that the game offers at least a bit more (based on previews and earlier interviews & other sources) than what you think is 100% representitive of everything the final game has to offer based on only those 5 seconds. And the people trying to combat the naysayers need to realize that defending a game based on 5 seconds of gameplay is equally as absurd as being turned off by it.

I guess, having reflected a little, my issue is this:
It has happened with a lot of games. The Uncharted series and the recent Tomb Raider spring to mind. This is why I'm disappointed. Developers create this wonderful worlds and settings for their games, and then pad the experience with endless shooting. It's just not very exciting. They're clearly capable of doing all of the other stuff - puzzles, platforming, plot development, stealth, exploration, etc. All of those other bits. But they're all secondary to shooting, shooting and more shooting. I want more of the other stuff. I had a faint hope that this game might've offered that and I'm disappointed that it appears this won't be the case.

That's reasonable. You're previous assertions were not.
I'm not defending the guy but in TLoU I spent more time exploring than in combat.
Stealth can be considered combat too
Why is it that you feel compelled to make constant posts shitting on a game lots of people are excited about? If you don't think it looks good or if its not for you FINE. Voice your opinion and then MOVE THE FUCK ON.

CoO sucked but GoS was great. How does RaD have an amazing track record if all they did was develop PSP games? Of course I'm gonna cut them some slack.
You guys got excited for a Gears clone?

Totally. When I see a reveal trailer for a new IP, and all the characters are shooting dudes, I think to myself "man, that game looks like it'll sure have some cool platforming in it!"
By the same token, we know that the game will be 80% combat, and based on the "5 seconds" of gameplay footage, I can't see how that combat will be much, if any, different to what we've been shown. It's a third person, cover-based shooter. That's what they're like. My point all along has been that I am disappointed to learn that this game will be like that. In my opinion based on what I've seen and what I've been told.
The big issue here is how quick the rabid GAF hivemind is to poo-poo anybody who dares jump to a potentially negative conclusion about a game they're excited about. The amount of trolling and, frankly, shitposts I've had in response to what I've said is pathetic. Just accept that somebody has an opinion. I'm not stating it as fact. I just believe the game will turn out like I've said. Based on what I've seen and read. By all means, counter my opinion with your own arguments, and many have, but others have just shown themselves to be little more than silly fanboys with their fingers in their ears shouting "la la la".
Again with the sarcasm and strawmen. This is not the point I was making. When I saw the reveal trailer I saw a cool setting. I didn't see a third person cover based shooter.
I haven't changed my assertions, though. I've just explained them better. Elaborated. I admit, I could've worded my posts better, explained things better, but I haven't changed my assertions.
We've known from the very start it was a standard TPS. What exactly were you expecting here dude? They've been very clear about their intentions with the game, so I don't understand why people have a need to act all surprised when it turns out they were telling the truth all along.
You guys got excited for a Gears clone?
I had no idea that it was going to be a cover-based third person shooter with 80% of the game dedicated to combat all along. I don't think anyone did until recently, did they? I've already admitted that I haven't been following this game much other than watching the reveal trailer and then this one. It seems a lot of people are in the same boat because a lot of the posters in this very thread are expressing surprise at it being a cover-based TPS a la Gears of War.
Well when people like you keep pestering him to explain himself, chances are that he will continue to keep posting.
Pfft, if any Uncharted 3 had less combat than Uncharted 2, certainly fewer gunplay moments overall.I'm not sure Uncharted 2 was 80% combat, but either way, just because I adored Uncharted 2 does not mean I enjoyed Uncharted 3 as much. Why? Because of the combat. Therefore I am likely to enjoy The Order even less, if you follow? That's why I'm disappointed. Too much focus on shooting and hiding behind walls in games that could be so much better if their other elements were brought to the fore more often.

Where is this 80% combat coming from?
You forgot "- Abraham Lincoln"99% of all stats are made up on the spot.
TLOU was designed to mostly be combat with ebbs and flows between the combat moments. Puzzles were minimal. I'd say easily 80% combat. People who spend a lot of time exploring nooks and crannies and appreciating every bit of the world really can't be factored in here, developers can put that stuff in the world but they can't expect to include it as an expectation that the regular player will spend a lot of time exploring and finding ones and backstory etc.I'm not defending the guy but in TLoU I spent more time exploring than in combat.
