actually i didn't mind half of the R/B/G sprites, there's a bunch i actually think are good

I definitely think the poor quality of the front sprites are often over-exaggerated and as a group are far, far better than their back sprites. A Pokemon's design looking different than they do now is not necessarily a bad thing, and giving it a more through look, many of the R/G sprites don't even look that different than they do now. Fearow, Raticate, Clefable, Psyduck, Rapidash, Dewgong, Weezing, pretty much the entire line from Goldeen to Ditto; the really bad ones like the legendaries and Golem tend to give the entire lot a worse reputation than they deserve.

yeah i used to feel the same way as most people did back then

but very recently i started to appreciate a lot of them once i got over how different they look. i think gastly is at his best in R/B, something about being less than a ball and more of a gas with a scary face is more intimidating
