It just makes much more sense to get Lapras over the other surf/strength mons. We don't have to worry about catching it, we'll get it anyway. It would be nice to have options but as long as we clear a spot BEFORE getting it, we'll never have to use a PC again. Any other option is madness.

Huh, I was totally wrong then. I thought Nintendo restricted releasing HM pokemon to prevent people from getting completely stuck, and people were bringing up cases where the game could become unwinnable.
Can't one simply put everything besides a low-level magicarp in the PC, release them all, have no money or pokeballs, and the game becomes unwinnable then?
Getting a fishing rod sounds like a nice idea though. It would give a new item for people to accidentally select, and a way to get different kinds of pokemon. Is it just really hard to get a fishing rod?
Or we'll get that wonderful random 1 out of 256 non-catch chance. Won't that be fun?The chances of catching Snorlax given our circumstances were minimal anyway.
And I wouldn't put much hope in the Master Ball. It'll probably get tossed/used on a Bellsprout/used against a Trainer

It's technically winnable thanks to random miss chances and Struggle, it's just virtually unwinnable because the RNG is so stacked against you.
Releasing our Surf Pookemon on Cinnabar without a rod is literally unwinnable.

Yep. Has pretty nice defense and special, too, if we could actually free up the space for it and teach it surf.
I think at that point the streamer would restore our save to the point before we ruined it.
