Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 2 - Don't Forget: You're here forever

People that are voting democracy right now are fools. The only upcoming points it should be used at is at Silph Co., the Safari, and ledge 2. We've already walked from Lavender to Fuchsia with anarchy easily (hell, we even did it in one go); we don't need democracy for that. Anarchy all the way, as Pidgeot would want!

Oh, huh. Maybe they just hate fun.

That's the only thing I can think of.

What would you rather have?

a) 100 hours of fun culminating in an immensely gratifying victory.

b) 30 minutes of boredom culminating in a completely unsatisfying victory.

A vote for Democracy is a vote for option B.

Meanwhile in Twitch Plays Crystal
We are training our pokemon for the underground tunnel. And we caught a gyrados, named Steve Jobs III. (A the Ekans and Koffing are in the Day Care)

That's nice I suppose but it's not nearly as impressive or interesting considering the disparity in viewers.

One last hurrah quote for the night.

Tore through Blue earlier this week out of sheer nostalgia. Picked up Black 2 after that, having not played it yet. Five minutes in and I feel like I'm playing the exact same game but as made by a group of people with no idea what made the original experience special. And I don't mean the usual "grumble grumble Pokemon never changes grumble" stuff, the execution of the first town and everything that comes with it is just fundamentally worse. It's mind-boggling.

No one gives a shit whether its impressive enough or not. Astrogamer likes to give updates on Crystal's progress.

I agree. His updates are nice and it's neat to see the contrast between the two streams.

Keep it up, Astro! *thumbsup.gif*

I agree. Black and White were just...huge disappointments for me.

That being said I thought D/P were garbage too.

Black was so good

And then Black 2

Game Freak why

I wanna be honest. X/Y wasn't that great neither, i got super-hyped after watching PKMN: Origins animation and i went and bought it. Since then, i haven't spent more than 15hrs on it. This stream has done more to reignite my love for the serie more than anything lol

I actually liked B/W. Only having the new Pokemon catchable before the Elite 4 was a good decision. I just hated how streamlined it was and the lack of endgame (if you didn't care about their online flash games).

What was so bad about the sequel by the way? I haven't gotten the chance to play through it since I'm busy with Pokemon Y right now.

Anyone know why there's so much democracy spam right now? As far as I can tell, the last few hours have seen the most progress there's been in days.

Something's definitely been going on. People will mention the Pidgeot poison debacle but there were a ton of people screaming for democracy in the chat before that. It was really weird because there was no 'need' for it. We were just making steady progress.

Then there was the situation where Pidgeot was the last Pokemon and got poisoned close to a Pokemon center and everyone completely lost their nerve. It was really surprising for what was a minor setback.

Anyway, democracy got really close to taking over so all of those people or bots or whatever who were howling for democracy before became more emboldened. I'm pretty sure it went over the line too. I think it's rigged for anarchy and that's why we haven't seen a switch over recently.

Regardless, it seems there are a lot of people who want to play in democracy and not just for the hard parts.

Just one level to (potential) Hypno. I've actually not been present for any of the evolutions; how many times did each get cancelled before it went through?

Gen 3 remains the best gen

I love 1, 2, and 3 equally. R/S/E was amazing. Blaziken <3

See, that's why I've been so reluctant to get it. :/

D/P has Cynthia
that automatically saves it from garbage tier

Cynthia is the best champ but D/P is trash

I was fine with Black, although I could've done with less being railroaded around in a circle. Make my destination a surprise, guys.

But the way Black 2 starts off by continually throwing the illusion of choice in your face really irks me. NPCs shouldn't get in the way of player agency so much.

It'll probably get better shortly and I'm just being tired and grumpy about it, but seeing the exact same story beats and hearing the exact same jingles while being much more put off by the much newer game was jarring. Improving the presentation values hasn't actually done the series any favors.

Follower of the dome. Thou hast gone to far this time! I pray to helix for you every day! But still my prayers have been unfulfilled. The dome must be blocking my prayers to the helix.

YOUR PRAYERS GO UNANSWERED BECAUSE THE HELIX IS A FALSE GOD

It was B/W 2.0. Not really that exciting.

Not every avatar has to have transparency...

He quoted me telling me what I did was nice, and his avatar wasn't transparent and just a piece of black behind Missile, so I thought I'd do it for him as well because it seemed like he'd like one, hence the hint hint.

But you were saying the other ones bugged you, idk just saying some people don't like transparencies on their avys. Not trying to be rude.

I've been so reluctant to get it. :/

I was very reluctant. I didn't liked the Mega-Evolution thing and haven't liked much a Pokemon game in a long time; but i watched Origins and got over-hyped that didn't though anymore and bought Y. Yeah, i was right to be reluctant. That's why i'm loving this stream (besides the hilarity of watching Red going in circles). Hopefully next game can catch the essence of old games (and the challenge, Y is beyond easy too! >_< )

Very few of us here seem to feel that way about Black and White. I wonder why. I always hear people praising its soundtrack which is catchy at best and doesn't evoke the same kind of adventurous feel as literally any other generation's soundtrack (or asthetic) imo. I love pretty much every single battle theme (Colress's BW2 battle theme is my #1 track) and I adored most of the Pokemon designs but I just wasn't feeling it. The aesthetic, the weird sprites in battle, the world design and progression, etc.

I love 1, 2, and 3 equally. R/S/E was amazing [...] but D/P is trash

Agreed! D/P was a real letdown I felt. I've heard Platinum is a bit better, but it just fundamentally wasn't there for me. B/W was a little better but still didn't feel as great as 1/2/3. B2/W2 was more of the same, actually worse in some ways, and I haven't gotten a chance to try X/Y yet (but I will if I pick up that 2DS deal in March!) but from what I've been told the easy factor is way up and it doesn't live up to the hype. Still want my mega manectric though.

Emerald, for me, was the pinnacle of the series so far. Everything was just so great about Gen III, and Emerald combining R/S stories and all was so neat.
