Twitch Plays Pokemon Thread 2 - Don't Forget: You're here forever

It looks like this must be pretty good numbers for Twitch on Friday night/Saturday morning. It's still getting more viewers on one stream than any other game is getting combined, so the lower numbers might just be normal for this time of the week.

Also: The only time I ever remember seeing a game on Twitch that isn't League of Legends at #1 is during the International for Dota2. Every other single time I've opened the front page for that site, League of Legends was #1 since it started. LoL streamers are almost inarguably the reason Twitch got as big as it is today, to see the game taken off the top spot so much recently is amazing.

you forgot every Sunday game at Evo 2013, if not previous years also

Holy Helix, this is excessively amazing.

When twitch started it was usually sc2 on top for a good while. Especially when any tourney was on streaming via twitch.

Yeah you're definitely right, I was thinking own3d was still the biggest streaming site for events like that while SC2 was still popular. But thinking back Starcraft 2 was still a bigger draw (and obviously still is popular, but League of Legends just has a larger audience than anything else) when Twitch was coming up.

edit:

Really? Makes sense, I've never seen it though. Fighting games usually don't even crack the top 5 from what I've seen but Evo is obviously a different beast than a normal stream. The charities do bigger numbers too but that's not usually a single game so I wasn't counting them.

We need another catastrophic event like Flareon's reign to spice things up again.

Honestly, I somewhat have to agree in that a villain would be cool to have.

Flareon sucked, but his release, while being awesome and major, gave us saviors and war heroes with adversity

I guess Giovanni counts.
I personally wish we took longer on the Safari Zone. That was short, few memes came out, and it was supposed to be one of the three biggest obstacles after the ledge along with Pokemon Tower and Ledge 2+Victory Road

I hope for ledge 2 at least we'll keep it in anarchy

The whole Batman cany really be batman without the joker thing

Right now teaching Lapras surf has proven to be quite a big obstacle, and distracted us from progressing in Silph Co.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed about the Safari Zone. It was supposed to be a big milestone of the run, but easy mode dully completed it in just two hours of chaining commands and misunderstanding the Twitch delay.

victory road will probably be done on easy mode unless it is heavily resisted

So, is this basically where we are at?: http://strategywiki.org/wiki/Pokémon_Red_and_Blue/Route_21

There are only two other Gym Leaders to defeat: Blaine in Cinnabar, and Giovanni back in Viridian City. But your new Surf skill has opened up a couple of other new options. You can head back to Route #9 (past Cerulean City) and get yourself a powerful Zapdos in the optional Power Plant dungeon, or head south from Fuchsia to get an Articuno in the Seafoam Islands.

Seriously. The democracy push started before they even entered the Safari Zone and didn't stop until they wrested control from anarchy after a few tries. They should have kept going in anarchy mode until they were down to their last 3k pokebucks, and only then should they have relinquished control to the dome. That would have been exciting, that would have had drama. Instead people were forced to submit to crybabies who were too afraid of losing a game that millions of people have already beaten.

I mean, come on. At least let us get stuck for as long as we were at the ledge

That's what I thought was going to happen, and I would've been perfectly ok with it. I support this anarchy democracy system, but not when we're going to go to demcracy at the slightest show of adversity

it was worth it
because of people like you

I agree, and honestly Ledge 2.0 will probably be easier in anarchy mode (unless democracy cheats and does "down x left y up z" to bypass the whole section :\ ).

I think we have enough pride and skill in defeating ledges to overtake democracy. Democracy only wins when people lose faith.

I'm not the first to say it, but the fan art that's come out of it has been maybe my favorite part of this all.And on that note there are nearly 70,000 subscribers on the Twitch Plays Pokemon subreddit. As long as that community keeps up the great content that they've been making, that's a large audience that's going to be reminded about TPP to keep the audience up.
Indeed, my TPP folder has already grown to 134 MB, with exactly 199 pics and .gifs. Bear in mind that I haven't been saving everything, only the stuff I liked the most or that I considered most relevant/important. There's a lot more fan art out there.

EDIT: make it 200.

I doubt anyone is afraid of losing. It's more so the abject boredom of banging our heads against a wall people want to avoid. Yeah, it's not funny anymore.

lol at people whining over democracy in the Safari. There was no way we would have completed it with Anarchy. In the end, it has benefited us since we now have a good amount of money to go buy TMs, stones, Poke Balls, and etc. It benefited us in the long run. The Safari was the only thing we absolutely needed Democracy. Don't whine because people didn't want to waste time, money, and do something that they know they can't.

It, along with Cinnibar, would be the only sections that would make progress impossible.

This image shows everything we need to know about the Safari.

See, ledge at least just required a few hundred less steps than the ENTIRE SAFARI ZONE.

Getting stuck at that maze is why I stopped watching regularly in the.first place.

If its not used for Ledge 2 my fears will have been dissuaded completely. That's completely doable with what will be 60% no accounting for lag down spammers and those doing so and hitting back with up and start

Then why play at all? Moving through the safari zone at as snail's pace isn't fun either, might as well attempt it with anarchy several times to keep things interesting. At least with anarchy, there's always the chance that some crazy shit might go down; instead we were subjected to the digital Ambien that is democracy mode right off the bat.

Let's be honest here. Getting stuck at the safari zone for a week would be boring as fuck.

We never even had a chance to get stuck there. The democracy push started as soon as we got within sniffing distance of Fuchsia, and didn't stop until it was done.

Once the democracy push starts, anyone actually interested in playing the game has to spam anarchy or lose the ability to do so. With the chat's anti-spam limitations, that means that the signal-to-noise ratio of actual players vs. bots and trolls spamming random directions drops to the point where it may as well be RNG playing the game.

I mean, just watch the aimlessness of the action on screen every time a democracy push starts. It's not a coincidence. Anyone who isn't an idiot can see the difference between the orchestrated madness of anarchy working on something and the abject randomness that happens during every democracy push.

Man, I really want to play this. Anybody a pro at spotting fake cartridges that wants to find me a legit leaf green on ebay? (since its cheaper than fire red)

So what's going on now?

Complete and absolute boredom. Maybe it's just me, but after the Tower, everything just pales in comparison. Normal battles offer no challenge since Bird Jesus is OP as hell, and with no random encounters, Silph Co is just boring and slow with all the walking. No DigRat also means there's nothing tense about it whatsoever.

Because it's still a group project and video games are fun? You won't get any argument from me regarding how quickly it flipped though. I'm surprised the voting went to demo right away. Then again it's been known for awhile Safari pretty close to impossible in anarchy so I guess people accepted it. I dunno.

It's weird to me how some anarchy people can simultaneously

Say democracy mode is awful for being boring
Say people who are bored with anarchy are awful/casuals
Enforce boredom on others with start9

How are none of these ideas apparently contradictory? There's a limit to lack of empathy or cognitive dissonance isn't there?

that's a certain major U.S. party that starts with an R
I think they'd answer no to your question

I'm up for democracy in certain situations like Safari Zone or that time we had to go back to get the scope. Only problem I have with it is just that when something takes a little over a hour they want to go democracy to do it fast. This is not a race, yes its frustrating but it'll feel like we did more if its not as easy as it is on democracy.

One type of "boredom" led to all the things that made this thing fun and popular to begin with. The other one is just boredom.
