Glad to see she/he decided to update it.

that's a certain major U.S. party that starts with an R
I think they'd answer no to your question
There's a difference between supporting anarchy in a game that is meant for entertainment and stalling a government from governing. People's lives don't depend on TWP. But sorry if my heart not bleeding for the people who don't get to play an 18 year old game in slow motion means I don't have the capacity for empathy.

It's weird to me how some anarchy people can simultaneously

Say democracy mode is awful for being boring
Say people who are bored with anarchy are awful/casuals
Enforce boredom on others with start9

How are none of these ideas apparently contradictory? There's a limit to lack of empathy or cognitive dissonance isn't there?

I support democracy mode alongside anarchy, but I'm worried that we might start switching immediately at adversity that is deemed "hard" or "ipossible"

start9 being boring is a side effect, not the intention. It's to give enough time for the anarchy votes to swap back the mode.

This I'm starting to see. I dont start 9, but this is the same way when democracy is winning, democracy supporters focus just on that and that alone. Anarchists that are serious have to divide their intention, causing our progress to get worse

I'll be honest, I'm still curious enough about eevee/flareon's staying in the game to have hoped it wasn't released. It'd have attracted so much fanart given how much the internet is used to drawing it to begin with. Plus it would've been supreme irony to bring the elite four down with two of the internet's most ridiculed Pokemon... at the hands of the internet itself.

But I guess it didn't swing that way. I'd quietly moan to the writer if this was a scripted story, but it's merely the events that transpire of a series of accidents. And accidents disregard notions of progress or setbacks, interest, or boredom. The helix giveth the helix taketh away.

Ok I missed something... Why is Red going through the Underground Pass?

Blacked out from a battle -> Escaping the gravitational Pull of the PC -> Disagreeing whether or not to go back to Silph while anarchy vs. democracy occur at the same time = Red wanders around in the city and eventually to the route below where wild battles jump him -> "Let's grind!" -> Leaving the grass to teach Surf somewhere safe.

They were trying to teach Surf and Strength in the area above the south gate in Saffron. This happened before with Psychic, now it is happening again, except they seemed to have used the Underground Pass instead.

I wonder if it was a Vaporeon if people would care as much if Charmeleon and Rattata were still released.

lol at people whining over democracy in the Safari. There was no way we would have completed it with Anarchy. In the end, it has benefited us since we now have a good amount of money to go buy TMs, stones, Poke Balls, and etc. It benefited us in the long run. The Safari was the only thing we absolutely needed Democracy. Don't whine because people didn't want to waste time, money, and do something that they know they can't.

It, along with Cinnibar, would be the only sections that would make progress impossible.

This image shows everything we need to know about the Safari.

What's "max allowable step count?"

I think if it didn't go bad exactly as the "Don't get Evee" image suggested it would, people wouldn't have reacted the same way.

Or, you know, if Flareon weren't clearly an evil foretold by prophecy, it wouldn't be recognized as a demon spawn.

I don't understand how people can sit in that chat for hours a day...Every time I join all I see is them moving back in forth and then the start menu pops up over and over again....

Red would have to get out of that colored area by that number of steps. See the entrance in the bottom middle? We would have to get out of there by 220 steps into the next area otherwise it would be impossible to make it to the Surf house which is our destination.

Well this time we're trying to use the Start menu and get into items so we can teach Surf and Strength to Lapras.

"Democracy mode would be harder unless they cheat and use democracy mode."

I can understand the appeal of Democracy mode on a move-by-move basis, working together to input every command correctly, but just convincing everyone to copy one chain of button presses (ex. adown2a for the elevator in the Rocket HQ) removes all suspense and player agency.

Why? I am not that familiar with this game. What happens at step 221 and why?

You get kicked out of the Safari Zone after taking 500 steps. Once you've taken 220 steps in the first area, you won't have enough steps left to make it to where the Gold Teeth and Surf (the items we need) are.

Ahh OK, I'll give a full explanation.

The Safari Zone is a special area in Pokemon games where the trainer is given 30 PokeBalls for an entry fee of 500 Pokedollars where they can catch Pokemon that is not obtainable in normal areas in the game. You are only to stay there till you take 500 steps, you use up all 30 Pokeballs, or you ask to leave.

In Red/Blue/Yellow, there are two items you need to progress in the Safari Zone. HM03 Surf, and Warden's Teeth (which you give to the Warden to get HM04 Strength). Both of these HM's are needed to progress through the game. The problem is, as you can see by the map, you need to traverse through a lot of the areas with the limited steps, so if you waste steps, you will not be able to make it thus wasting time and money.

So that example I gave with the 220 steps is that if we were to get out of that area on the 221st step, then we wouldn't be able to make it to the house on the far left of the map. The map just gives an idea of how many steps you can make before you're screwed for that single run.

Hope that makes it clear.

If we had Vaporeon we would have had our surfer, we wouldn't have had to go to the box ever again (Charizard can learn Strength), and they wouldn't have been released

Two boot-ups of surf, and one near-boot-up of Strength... None of them made it through...

Edit: It'd probably be better to teach strength first, actually... It'd take up the third slot, which takes two actions to get to from the start. It's also not the chat's goal while still being important to finishing the game, so they'll probably still want to keep teaching until everything is done and thereby we are left with no risk of wasting the master ball in another inventory dive.

This has motivated me to play Pokemon again but I've only got Ruby and Fire Red left with no GBA anymore to play them on :(. I think the last time I played them was within a year of release, wow.

get a 3DS, get superior Y, and pick up Fire Emblem and several other games while you're at it
