No. There are some Pokemon you want to delay evolution for (Shroomish needs to learn Spore by level-up before evolving), but none of the starters fall in that category.

Grinding scrubs is quite boring, and you can catch higher leveled or outright better Pokemon than all that we have now.

The jump in stats is worth it to evolve. Unless they have pre-evolution moves that you really want, theres basically no reason not to evolve.

Chat was perpetually stalling out in a regular cycle bc of something with how the game was reading it. Most of the "frozen" bits consisted of red sitting around doing nothing. We just got lucky when one overlapped with the evo.

Stat boost>"powerful skills" most of the time. "Way earlier" is only 4 or 5 levels earlier.

There are a few Pokemon you should delay evolution for (Shroomish in RSE comes to mind again), but most of them you definitely want to evolve as soon as possible.

Earlier you evolve the better in most cases, as the stat improvement is much more viable then learning moves earlier.
