I'm actually surprised a PR person is directly addressing/starting a conversation about the complaints themselves, rather than ignoring it or simply responding to comments.

It's probably crisis mode over at Ubi if thuway's tweet is accurate. All hands on deck.
 
Many people are not fully aware that 99% of Second Son gameplay is shown at night setting with wet and reflective roads and a lot of glowing particles covering a half of the screen. When the sun rises, the streets are dry and Delsin go walking calmly through the city we can compare which has better visibility in the distance, better polygonal detail, better shadows, better vegetation, better physics, better animations, more people in the streets, etc.. At the moment I think there are too many unfair comparisons because how awesome Delsin movements in the air are.

Maybe that's it, because i was not impressed by the day time infamous footage as far as i can remember.

I also feel for them. But as said no one forced them to oversell the game way back in 2012. They can so rectify the situation by putting out more media showing why we might be wrong.

so why is not the followup question about whether or not the trailer is the true representation of the final game. some gamers with twitter and brass balls should also do their job and ask the questions to cut through all the bullshit pr spreads.

Suckerpunch, like most Sony studios are no slouch. SS is very impressive from a technical view. Yes, even during the day.

I have seen every SS trailer and WD trailer. Yes, dynamic TOD and fog in SS is awesome and better than showed WD TOD. But I think water is better in WD. Particles are more visually appealing in SS, but I think characters and faces are better in WD. Reflections looks a bit better in SS, but I think animations and cloth physics are better in WD... and so on. I'm not saying SS is worse, but both have great tech achievements.

If the game looks different, I think it's quite possible that it may be from a PS3 or Xbox 360 build rather than a PS4 build. I think the downgrade is for the Xbox360 and PS3 versions. I doubt that downgrade is for the PS4.

They certainly would have made it priority to point out that the released footage is from the previous generation. They showed the best that they have. If there was better footage out there, we'd have seen it.

What about modelling and geometry...? I would say characters look less blocky and higher poly than WD and evironments seem more detailed. Also, there seems to be a lot more effects going on. Water does look better in WD. Animations may be better as well. Don't really agree with faces, they look lower poly to me , though more realistic. Gameplay looks smoother in Infamous to me.

this is sounding like MS response prior to launch where 'folk wouldn't see a difference' between 720p and 1080p due to upscalling :(
 
Ubisoft don't realize the grave they've dug for Watch Dogs, do they? I know its PR and all, but people won't take kindly to more bullshit after this, and it's clearly bullshit.
When The Division doesn't live up to the reveal either it will be quite the mess. It caused an equal hype to watch dogs during E3, if not bigger
 
Could it be that that Watch_Dogs 2014: May Edition makes Outlast look like a crappy game? I think maybe that's what she's trying to say. If Outlast visuals disappointed her this much and Watch Dogs impressed her, than maybe we're in for a nice surprise.

And saying there is a downgrade.

Despite it showing:

- Different locations
- Different times of day
- Different weather

Way to oversimplify. I don't think anyone really gives a shit about location, TOD, and weather status. Lighting, which there is some night footage BTW, physics, animation, textures, AA, shadowing, particle effects, and other elements are all huge differences. Can't see how none of that is noticeable by anyone who isn't blind to confirmation bias for the reasons they have.

Plus there's more than just that concept demo out there from 2012. There was periodic footage throughout 2013, and most of the game looked better in most aspects. Think the most anyone complained that realized by that point the first demo was just a concept piece was the running animation in the short random mission demo.

And again, we can cherry pick both the best and worst sequences in the trailer and that source, but that just means that at best some bits are missing some lighting effects while also missing given features of previous open world games like breaking glass, but at its worse it can be pretty ugly, making the drop from everything before that much noticeable.

I'm always astounded when PR companies let their social people use their real names and tout that they're the ones tweeting for the brand. That's just asking for trouble. I worked with some social people once and when a promotion didn't go well, angry followers did some wacky internet detective stuff to find out who they were and what agency they worked for and called the president's number in the office. It's bizarre.

Outlast has crappy graphics? What is she saying? If the game had crappy graphics, I wouldn't have been scared shit less during my play through.
To be fair, a game can have crappy graphics and still be super scary I.e. slenderman. Outlast really does have good graphics though
 
It's PS4 footage. Confirmed by Sony.

Well, I'm trying to search for confirmation from Sony saying that and I can't find any confirmation. All I've been seeing are websites saying that this is the PS4 version and that's all, I see no weight other than, believe what we say.
 
I would suggest dropping the attack on the Ubisoft Pr lady. We do not want her to lose her job over this. She is making some claims that are factually incorrect. We know she is wrong. That should be good enough for most of us on GAF.

You can look carefully at polycount in faces and clothes and skin and fabric shaders. Please be honest.

 
Damn everything looks so static in that video.

That's why it's so disappointing. The life from the original reveal is gone. Everything feels flat. It's such a stark contrast between the reveal vs actual footage, and I'm frankly surprised folks mentioned they can't tell a difference.
