It's a bit sad when official PR spokespersons don't know the difference between then and than.

What I find even more sad is that you're cloaking behind a username insulting somebody that's speaking their second language to other internet trolls.

Shouldn't we be seeing some Wii U Gamepad implementation images at this point? I know we had them like crazy for the Splinter Cell version by now.

Apparently, that's one of the reasons for the delay, to allow the team working on it to figure out how to use it within the game properly.

Trust me, people will find something*.

* See Killzone Shadowfall.

No big game can release these days without there being something to bitch about on the internet. Even if that something is 3 months later after the game has sold millions of copies and been widely enjoyed without a hitch, people will still gather the pitchforks. Its quite sad actually.

Let's all shed a tear for those poor widdle big budget AAA games who get picked on like a runt on the playground by those big internet bullies.

This thread and situation proves why publishers are afraid to try anything different/new.

On the whole, the gaming community today is a big mess. Full of entitled people who don't know shit about what goes on in terms of developing a game. There are people out there who have slaved away on this product for the last few years only to end up with a reaction like this, and the game isn't even out yet. It's unfair on them to say the least.

This is why we can't have nice things.

What are you talking about? People are upset because they showed multiple preview demos of the game and it wound up looking nothing like it, even after a delay. This has nothing to do with trying anything different or new. It just sends a message to not publicly display unreachable goals. I hope it sends a message to Ubisoft to not do something like this again. We don't like being misled. That's all.

Can someone briefly summarise what the story is here?

It looks like they've delayed the game and the footage since the delay shows inferior graphics?

Was everything in the previous footage we'd seen bullshit?

This makes me worried about the Division (the game out of the two I'd be far more interested in)

Most likely yes.

When the game comes out and people start talking, it's most likely going to mirror the Halo 2 demo from E3 as for what went wrong.

And you better get your expectations in check for The Division, cause I think we are going to get a reality check at E3.

Indeed, lol. I'm so terribly sorry that Ubisoft is getting shit for lying to their costumers over and over again. Poor Ubisoft.

They delayed the game because they thought it wasn't ready - people get upset.
They don't state what the new release date is for a while - people get upset.
They re-reveal the game with a new trailer & new footage & state a new release date - people get upset

1) They delayed the game at the 11th Hour .... You cant tell me that they didn't realize that the game would require another 8 months until weeks before the PS4 launched.

People have every right to be pissed at this, people even had preorders with that bundle.

2) They knew it was up to a year delayed but they didn't want to tell people that so they said nothing, The assumption at the time was that they were "Almost done" and it would be 1Q . They didn't have to release a date but they could have said 2Q or 3Q.

3) They re-reveal the game looking worse then it did when it wasn't finished with no explanation.

people had every right to be upset and they still do

Tessa works here as a PR lady for Ubisoft in Belgium. In the part where we live, Dutch is the main language. French is our second language and actually German the third one. Of course English is an important language too, but it's pretty normal that everyone makes a mistake now and then.

Thanks. I'd wager that her English is far better than the complaining poster's Dutch, French or German.

They shouldn't have advertised the game like that, pretending to be running on a next-gen console only to delay the game and downgrade it. You create expectations, and as a company it's your task to fulfill these expectations. If you can not do that, you shouldn't be surprised when you get shit from your followers.

It wasn't an advertisement. It was a reveal at a gaming conference. If they were still showing the game to be like that in all of the latest trailers then I'd understand where people are coming from, but the fact is they aren't. They are showing the game as it is at the moment (or even in a build a couple of months old), therefore they are actually being honest and upfront about it. From there you can make an informed decision whether to purchase the game or not.

Its nothing to get all up in arms about.

Exactly, this is about false promises. Not about trying something new or being entitled. There are plenty of games that are average looking that I really enjoy, that's fine. I just get frustrated when I'm shown apparent "footage" of a game and then it continues to be downgraded. No one likes to be deceived and then be hit in the face with a reality that is much less attractive.

Damn guys, this is getting brutal. Maybe Ubisoft can show more gameplay to see if their claims is up to snuff?..

Or Gaf can wait until May to be head of the internet shitstorm thats apparently brewing.

How can stating facts be an insult, Mr Bonejangles (which I assume is your real name)?
Another fun fact: English is not my native language, either.

She really is only doing her job. She can't ignore these comments and can't say anything bad about the product. Not like she's going to say: "Yeah we lied, the game doesn't look as good as we promised". But she also can't allow us to speculate without giving an answer either. She didn't make the game and probably doesn't know as much as some think she does.

I'd laugh if it turned out to not be downgraded and the footage was of a old build or of last gen. This thread would then look like one crazy over the top meltdown. Be it downgraded or not I will still be getting it as the game interests me.

God damn this thread is getting too heated. This thread was never about blaming the internet for stagnating creativity nor should some PR mouthpiece be the focus of discussion. The topic itself is interesting enough.

They were at least upfront about the game looking better in the E3 reveal. We can agree on that.

Ubisoft as honest though? Not sure about that.

Ubi is infamous for stuff like this:

Consoles are supposed to be drm machines for the lowest common denominator, the guy unable to build himself a rig without blowing his house up.

People jumped on the PS4XBandwagon because they were sick of ugly 2005 graphics, but if this is what it's come down to, they should have learned how to build a PC, this trash isn't worth the 8th gen upgrade.

Ubi has a track record of misrepresenting their games. All the hate against the company is justified, though personal attacks against specific people is not.

I think a lot of people are looking into this a little too seriously. It's pretty common knowledge that most of the demos we see at E3 are run on PC during their developing stages. Also I just want to point out that games that come out with a new consoles within the first year of its release never usually have the best graphics because they are still learning to build games with it.

I think the games will get better over time when the developers have more time to learn the new dev kit. Learning from mistakes.

I guess Guerilla and Sucker Punch made a deal with the devil or something.

I think this is more down to Ubi struggling to close the gap between the current gen and last gen versions. Cross gen is a thing that needs to fucking die in a fire.

Back on topic: If the trailer from that Italian site really accuartely depicts the retail PS4 version, then my interest in this game is dead.

1. These things happen. Delays exist in all walks of life. They actually aren't hurting anyone but themselves in delaying a game (added costs/resources).

2. They didn't want to say anything until they could be 100% sure so not to annoy people further - understandable.

3. You or nobody else deserves and "explanation". There have likely been many internal struggles and technical issues with this game that majority of the gaming community wouldn't be able to comprehend even if they told you.

They fabricated a tech demo based on nothing in 2012, because they admitted in an interview they didn't even know the PS4 and X1 specs.

The fact shows after two years: the graphics are good, but they are a massive downgrade if compared to the original trailers, especially in the lightning and atmospheric departments.

People somehow accuse gamers of being entitled, when Ubi has been clearly deceitful.

Discussion gets heated, people do and say stupid stuff.

Simply incredible.[/QUOTE]

The thing is, 2012 was somewhat acceptable but nothing ground breaking, it was the effects that stood out. It's a bit of a Second Son situation, except we know now Second Son looks much better both model, environment and effect-wise.

If they deliver, we will walk behind the ploughshares and put away the swords. I have no doubt that we will all merrily aboard the hype train without prejudice. I don't think anyone is hating on this game just for the sake of doing so.

no idea why the OP wasn't updated with the link to the video after 56 pages.
I have an idea..

Still, Ubi should stop with the unrealistic reveals and bullshots. Whe're past that shit.

I'm less optimistic about that these days.

That is the original Xbox version.

I agree. I think the game probably could have looked relatively close to the 2012 demo but they had to alter things so that it could even run approximately on PS3/360

Don't agree with the first one at all and we do deserve an explanation as it is us that pay for their games.
