Watch_Dogs downgradeaton confirmed

Consoles are supposed to be drm machines for the lowest common denominator, the guy unable to build himself a rig without blowing his house up.

People jumped on the PS4XBandwagon because they were sick of ugly 2005 graphics, but if this is what it's come down to, they should have learned how to build a PC, this trash isn't worth the 8th gen upgrade.

Whoa...really? The hyperboles being thrown around is getting to be a bit much in this thread.

The disingeneous thing is that the bullshots they have released have steadily improved...I mean the gap between them and the actual game is pretty damning...

I'd laugh if it turned out to not be downgraded and the footage was of a old build or of last gen. This thread would then look like one crazy over the top meltdown. Be it downgraded or not I will still be getting it as the game interests me.

Absolutely.

1) They delayed the game at the 11th Hour .... You cant tell me that they didn't realize that the game would require another 8 months until weeks before the PS4 launched.

People have every right to be pissed at this, people even had preorders with that bundle.

2) They knew it was up to a year delayed but they didn't want to tell people that so they said nothing, The assumption at the time was that they were "Almost done" and it would be 1Q . They didn't have to release a date but they could have said 2Q or 3Q.

3) They re-reveal the game looking worse then it did when it wasn't finished with no explanation.

people had every right to be upset and they still do
C'mon. That's not really true. This was the last gameplay demo we got before it disappeared:

It looks just like what we saw today but with a different TOD, you can even see that around 6:50 it looks as bad as the gif in the op due to the excessive motion blur.

We have

Trust me, people will find something*.

* See Killzone Shadowfall.

No big game can release these days without there being something to bitch about on the internet. Even if that something is 3 months later after the game has sold millions of copies and been widely enjoyed without a hitch, people will still gather the pitchforks. Even if its one missing texture, one glitch, one pixel out of place.

Its quite sad actually.

This has been true about everything for the entirety of human history. People have opinions. Some people dislike things other people like. I guarantee you the majority of people who are interested in or planning to buy Watch Dogs have no idea about this 'drama' going on right now. For almost every example of 'pitchforking', especially in modern times, it is almost always a vocal minority causing the noise.

All this noise is just that, noise. People will or won't buy the game, that will be the thing that affects Ubi, not what an assortment of people online type at their PR person or 3rd party forums.

As was said, Ubi didn't force anyone to follow their dev cycle, get hyped for the game, preorder it, etc., but they sure as shit ENCOURAGED it, and they have handled it horribly. The last-minute months-long delay with no explanation, the expectations set in the previews appearing to be completely false, and the continued fuzziness about the details are all bad things to do individually, much less all of them together.

Don't agree with the first one at all and we do deserve an explanation as it is us that pay for their games.

Whoa buddy, "deserve" something? Hang on there. You don't want to act like all like that yucky old E-word. Sounds like you need to take whatever you get from the big, friendly entertainment company and like it. Someone worked hard on that, after all. They had a family to feed. You're obligated to like it because someone was hired to work on it.

Yep. They improved some textures on the main character it seems though.maybe better AA, but that's hard to judge from the compressed vids.

What is the source of that gif?

That scene doesn't appear on the last trailer...

And... if it is... what versions are you comparing?

Dont even try to bring reason or clear identification of sources to this thread. I wonder why mods are still keeping it open.

But it is her twitter account, she isn't saying it through the Ubi official account. Long as she doesn't go off in a mad rant like others have, I don't see the problem.

Unfortunately, that doesn't matter if you've chosen a career in PR and you've gone so far as to link your personal account with your business account. At that point, you're representing the company even when you're not tweeting officially.

um..nope?

The atmospheric effects, the lighting, the rain itself and reflections.

Those details set the deal. Those details is what made the 2012 so espectacular and so next-gen.

What? the source is that italian preview. Is not the new trailer....

It has been linked like 100 times already...

The details from 2012 are still next-gen though. I mean next-gen from now, of course.

Yep, ofcourse I am!

1. These things happen. Delays exist in all walks of life. They actually aren't hurting anyone but themselves in delaying a game (added costs/resources).

2. They didn't want to say anything until they could be 100% sure so not to annoy people further - understandable.

3. You or nobody else deserves and "explanation". There have likely been many internal struggles and technical issues with this game that majority of the gaming community wouldn't be able to comprehend even if they told you.

If you want to take this line, you have to understand that people are not remotely beholden to Ubisoft. They do not have to check their emotions against what may or may not be happening at Ubisoft before they feel those emotions.

Delays happen. People are disappointed by delays. Pointing out the former doesn't stop the second being true, nor does it make the second unjustified. That's like saying 'People die. Why get upset about it?'. It's nonsense.

I do not deserve explanation, but Ubisoft do not deserve consideration as to why their end result is what it is compared to the initial footage and compared to other games.

I only care about the final product I get to play. If it's disappointing, it's disappointing. Whether it's disappointing for understandable business realities or not has no baring on it.

You cannot only afford one group consideration in this, as you are doing. Ubisoft hype and release a product. Based on their hype my excitement level in that product varies, and ultimately if I think the product looks good enough for my time I will buy it. If it turns out not to be, I will be disappointed by it.

No one is beholden to anything other than that. Ubisoft's marketing for this product was good at first, generating lots of interest, and then they made a number of major missteps. They have failed to control the messaging on this new footage. That's all on them. I don't have to give two shits as to why that is.

Shave your neckbeard and cut her some slack, it is not her job to know English for the area she works in mate.

That area being English language PR on the internet?
Say, why do you feel the need to lecture me, Mr Bonejangles and what makes you think I have a neckbeard (that requires shaving, no less)?

I forgot about this footage.

Hey look... wind.

Hey look.... some low sun that was carefully picked for the first reveal reflecting off the ground (11:31).

Oh look... stuff blowing around on the floor. (13:35)

It looks exactly the same guys.

Claims that Watch Dogs' graphics had been downgraded appeared following a new video released yesterday, which spawned a fairly damning GIF that suggested the game didn't look quite as good as it once did.

"Believe me the game is not downgraded," Vilyn later said, "that would just be a bit ridiculous."

Vilyn's comments follow similar words from creative director Jonathan Morin, who told VideoGamer.com last year that "there's no scale down in quality, especially the next-gen versions.

"It's pretty much the opposite," he said. "What we showed at E3 2012 in a lot of respects was less good. I think it's in the details. So no, there's no scale down."

Everyone needs to lower their pitchforks until we see some actual gameplay. All we've got are gifs and half second shots from a trailer.

Ugh just get someone who worked on the game to give us an honest answer. Not this bollocks.

What version is that footage of? How much has the engine changed since then?

I'd be happy if the game still looked like that, but how can you say it does? I'm comparing 2012 footage to 2014 footage. 2013 footage doesn't really come into it.
