SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- Two men were convicted Wednesday of stealing an American company's secret recipe for making a chemical used to whiten products from cars to the middle of Oreo cookies and selling it to a competitor controlled by the Chinese government.

Aw, I hope they like their double-stuffed in prison.

I don't know if I want to know secret ingredients anymore. First this rubber subway bread and now car paint in oreos. Ugh.

Am I supposed to be outrage over the theft or the fact that the same product is used to whiten the car and Oreo?
I'd be more worried about how this process works and its health effects if any. Might be a lot of worry over nothing though especially as they're probably better avoided for a million and one other reasons anyway, but this then begs the question of what is the true color of Oreo cream filling.

... It's going to be kind of disappointing if it's only a slightly off white color.

Anyone find disturbing the car whitening chemical part and the food involvement in the same sentence? lol

There are multitude of things it used to whiten. Those are just two of them.

You are eating chemicals all the time. I'm sure the fat content in the cookie is worse for you than the whitening chemical. Unless it gives you cancer.

Guys, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but they put the same chemical they use to make antifreeze in food preservatives! You are literally eating antifreeze when you eat foods with glycerol!

Yeah, healthwise it's an unwinnable battle. Even if the process is completely benign health-wise you're still stalking about sugary, fat loaded cookies.
