GiantBomb - TitanFall framerate in mech combat is not fixed in Xbox One retail code

"No, no, don't worry guys that was a beta, we'll be fixing that right up don't worry go ahead and preorder."

Said who ?
Even if you can hope for an improvement from a beta to a release, you shouldn't expect it either, and certainly not be surprised when the release version is almost identical to the one you played one month earlier.

Hopefully this is sorted/addressed in that day one patch (and that everyone reviewing the game wasn't playing with that patch).

This. I played 6 hours of the beta and never encountered single digits once, but I'm sure given a specific scenario it's possible for a very brief moment. Really not worth a thread over.
Oh nvm close the thread and ban the complainers then.
/sarcasm

Agreed. Probably many of the people complaining aren't getting the game. I didn't notice much of a framerate drop in the beta. Certainly not single digits. It played smooth for me and am happy

I may or may not pick the game up (on PC) based on reviews from a few trusted reviewers... so potential frame rate issues are definitely interesting. I don't remember hearing about single digit drops during the beta, but I wasn't paying that much attention.

So only buy absolutely perfect games?

Don't buy inferior versions, when there are better options available and you claim to care.

It's like a movie buff complaining that the vhs version of a history of violence doesn't look that great. Well no duh, it's literally technically inferior. Go buy the blu ray if you care.

If you buy the vhs version you're showing you're okay with that existing and showing that the market is still there, they will continue to target it and release inferior options for you to apparently buy and complain about.

BTW, frame rate drops were absolutely not limited to "in mech" situations for me in the Beta. Never quite as low, but still noticeable.

I'm actually very surprised here. the game graphics don't look anything special, with few character count running on not big maps and with low resolution. so this game having framerate issue at all is really a shock to me.

I guess I should elaborate considering the beta was three weeks ago why people would expect some magical change between then and now.

Source engine relies heavily on the cpu side for render. I guess if resolution doesn't have a great impact in these slowdowns, so releasing at 720p not have been the solution. Surely the cpu clock upgrade into xbone was sued by respawn at first.

Titanfall 2 will use a different engine.

So much for Azure servers running the "advanced" bot AI to allow the X1 to focus on graphics.

Shit ain't working it seems.

Engadget piece really was written by MS PR.

We wouldn't be having this problem if it was on ps4!

Lol the titanfall AI certainly doesn't have much scripting being dedicated to it.

Completely baseless conspiracy theory: Game "ships" at 792p in order to debunk rumors, performance be damned. Day 1 patch adds "performance mode" option that lowers texture resolution and makes game render at 720p. Either that or a series of patches over the first 3-6 months provide "optimizations" by gradually reducing texture and render resolutions so people don't notice.

it would be deliciously awkward if the 360 version would have no tearing and a rock solid framerate, even if it's 30 fps.

Frostbite ya think?

Hmmmm...
It'd be such a bad move to make on their part, though. And they keep talking about how they're going to improve the res and such over time.

Tldr; Titanfall is coming in hot! Just like most games now, it seems

If a game running at a targeted 60fps drops into actual single digits that's a phenomenally huge budget overrun on the frame, to the extent that I'd suspect it could be some sort of bug stalling the render-pipeline.

Spiking to 500%-600% of normal frame-budget shouldn't occur no matter how much overdraw is happening.

I don't believe the 360 version will be close to the x1 version. I think they are simply hiding it to put focus on the x1 version. Nothing more. It will look very washed out in comparison is my guess

And what if someone's only option to play this game is their shiny new Xbox One? You're going to give people shit for buying a high profile game like this on a high profile new console, rather than playing it on their ill equipped PC which probably couldn't run the fucking game anyway?

Sorry, but that's a dumb fucking analogy you got there. There may be other, more expensive, better options out there, but they aren't available to everyone. They aren't playing a VHS tape on a VHS machine, they're playing a new game on new hardware.

They had to squeeze in that extra 72p.

In actuality, the beta was a ton of fun and the frame drops were barely noticeable, but I hope that respawn wasn't pressured to increase the resolution. I have a feeling MS did not want to see one of their biggest franchises be 720p. They hate that number, so that's why the odd resolution we have now.

Yeouch. Really disappointing if true. I'd hate to see how the 360 fares. I'm assuming a pretty big graphical downgrade, seeing as they haven't really showed it off all that much.

Welcome to next gen?

Seems like the best part of TitanFall was the Twitch update for xb1 users. I would seriously love some archiving ability on my ps4.

I'd give them shit for supporting a game that ea profits from. They are the Walmart/Monsanto/etc of this industry. Would be better off with each dead or rebuilt from ground up.

The ass storm is here, he died for our sins. Glorious buttocks rip

Seriously though, drop the res that's pitiful performance

Xbox one is 500 bucks. They could have bought a computer that runs titanfall in 1080p with 60 fps for that.

They didn't.

They either don't care, which is totally fine, sometimes you just want to shoot stuff and have fun, it's not all about these dumb numbers. If they want to be informed though, there should be a place they can be and more easily accessible.

Or they do know about the disadvantages and advantages of these systems and videogames and went ahead and spent their money, or christmas gift list spot or whatever, on it anyway, complaining the whole while about low framerates and resolution and textures and blah blah blah. That is 100% their own fault. You can't pull the economic argument when they just spent 500 bucks on the "shiny new x box one".

Gies mentions it in the Polygon review, but he downplays it.

Polygon said:
If there are complaints to be had, I'd point to performance. Titanfall sits at 60 frames per second most of the time, but when three or four Titans are on the screen at once, firing rockets and arc blasts, things take a dive. It's never not playable, but it is noticeable.

Atleast they mentioned it I guess...
