Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U Thread 5: Yarning for Yoshi

Between Mewtwo, K. Rool & Palutena, my choice is also the great goddess, even though what I know of her is from you guys mainly. The move set potential, her personality and relationship w/ Pit, the fact that she is a green haired goddess and that she is a staff and magic user based off of Athena, makes this choice simple. In regards to Mewtwo, I choose new over old any day.

Palutena, cause then we'll probably get hilarious taunts

Can you imagine the banter potential in a Pit and Palutena Team during team battles? Sakurai loves those forth wall moments a ton too, so there's no way putting them together wouldn't lead to hilarity.

#TeamPalutena and I say this as someone who thinks Mewtwo should be a mainstay. K. Rool is neither here nor there for me.

Heh, I just noticed one of his waist spikes regularly pokes through his thigh. Oucharoony!

Other M Ridley worst design confirmed.
urgh, just look at dis shit

YES! Welcome to #TeamR..I mean #TeamPalutena; That is a really good point. I can already imagine the custom stage entry banter between a Pit Vs. Palutena match

Palutena easily.

Mewtwo would be great too but I'd rather see the entirely new blood. K. Rool is not even in the conversation.

The other two are just so much more interesting, K. Rool is a badly designed Bowser in a crown.

I mean look at that shit, it's everything bad about 90's character design in a nutshell.

there's always a chance those two characters don't get revealed ya'know

it's my list and I'm going off what's on the site. I'm not adding two characters that aren't revealed yet

yeah I wasn't trying to call you out, just saying there isn't much more a leaker can do to "prove" himself legitimate. pretty much anything else can be faked.

and like I said, there are possible reasons that Mii or Pac-Man might not end up being playable despite the leaker's legitimacy. so it's cool. :P

Come on guys, Mii & Pac man are just too obvious.

Namco is helping develop, Sakurai felt the need to come right out and say it isn't a guarantee that they will get a character (business speak for I am lying) and he has been in the arcade Mario karts, as well as being brought up and a final smash was even talked about with Sakurai in an IGN interview.

The Mii doesn't even need context for why it is obvious..

Jesus that Ridley design looks like the doodles of an angsty teenager. I'd rather have no Ridley at all.
;_; I'm okay having an ugly Ridley. ;_;

I'd rather he look like the Super Metroid version or the Metroid Prime version though.

It bugs me so much that he's missing a tail.

Even before Namco's involvement was announced, Pac-Man struck me as the most probable new guest character behind Mega Man. I even thought he had a chance in the Brawl days due to Pac-Man Vs.

I'm expecting Pac-Man too, especially since Namco's promoting him with that whole TV show.
Quick Other M Ridley's design Vs. King K. Fool's design? (Not editing) Who wins in a fight?
K. Fool, at least that crazy bloodshot eye has a lot of character. Other M Ridley looks like something from a B-grade MMO.

To be fair, his later designs are much better;

Okay.. artistically not by much but they are more imaginative and also: it isn't really fair to judge the designs on their technical merits since DKC was a weird time for videogame graphics, with Rarewares "3D"
before 3d took off, so it obviously affected his design.

This is much better;

NOT to mention that Sakurai has a knack for taking old designs and putting a new creative spin on them that always does the character's justice. See; Megaman, Sonic, Pit, Palutena in KI:U

Lets not hate on other m guys. Lets just wipe it from our memories like that one space dinosaur game that came out on the original xbox.

I think Din's fire will always have a rather limited use as long as Zelda's completely immobile while casting it and she falls into helpless state when using it in air, even if damage is buffed.
You should play against Riot from New England. He is a Zelda main and mostly spams Dins and beats a lot of people.

K.Rool would need a redesign but I think he would be great to see in. Obviously between him or Ridley getting in I would put my money on Ridley.

QUOTE:DisconnectD - 4. Mewtwo was jipped by Lucario and will be again in 4, mark my words

5. Roy, Dr. Mario & Pichu will make it back this time, guys. It is a sure thing.

Imagine the reactions if instead of K. Rool, we got (TROPICAL FREEZE SPOILERS)
he Snowmad leader who's a ripoff of K. Rool
.

I'm still annoyed that
there wasn't a big awesome reveal that showed that K. Rool was behind the Snowmads after all.
Huge wasted potential right there.

I still don't think we're getting a new DK rep anyway. Donkey and Diddy are plenty, and Dixie and K. Rool are actually pretty boring characters.

There is a problem with having Mii as a playable character: As their "harmless, casual mascot" Nintendo is pretty careful in what kind of games they make the Mii's available for (as seen how difficult it was for third parties to license that character for their Wii games).

Despite its cartoonish nature, Smash Bros has some pretty violent moves. Imagine little Timmy's mom stopping by her son's room when he is playing Smash Bros and seeing her Mii being kneed in the head by Captain Falcon. Might be pretty shocking.

Sure the Miis have been boxing etc. in Wii Sports, but those are sports, and thus always a more acceptable form of violence for most people.

Posting for the sake of blind hype is pointless. Please don't do that just to prove a point or something. It seems like people are going to do that.

Timmy's mom should look at the ESRB/PEGI/CERO/etc. rating to determine if the game is appropriate for Timmy.

You have Mario characters fighting when they do as much violent things as Miis. It really is not a good point for Miis to not be in the game.

I don't think that the violence in Smash Bros. is really any worse than the violence in, say, Mario Kart or the StreetPass Plaza Monster Manor.

Smash Bros. is a special case, anyway, as it's one of Nintendo's heavy hitters. I can't see Nintendo not making an exception if Sakurai wants to put Miis in Smash as it would be an incredibly easy way to generate hype from more casual players. I mean, playing as yourself in Smash? How cool is that?

Oh, c'mon. If characters like Villager are getting into Smash Bros., there's nothing stopping Miis.

This is some horrible logic, and if Nintendo actually believes this then they're really done for.

Smash Bros. violence is the most over-the-top violence imaginable. Captain Falcon's knee is incredibly goofy.

You can't expect parents to actually make sure a game is appropriate for a child. That's what the store clerks are for.

Y'know, I think Nintendo was onto something when they had that 17+ banner put on the Conker box.

I was thinking today about Snakes move set and putting it on another character. Since I still have the feeling that's what we're in store for. The obvious answer would be advanced wars, since just about anyone there especially the days of ruin characters could take it with ease. But if they tweaked the look of it I could see the move set going to a metroid character. Especially to someone on the team from Other M such as "remember me" guy.
