I thought this deserved its own thread as opposed to the MCU or Bats/Supes threads:

Until now, the identity of the Marvel film set to open on May 6, 2016, has been kept secret; Marvel Studios and Disney claimed the date first before Warner Bros. slotted the next "Superman" installment for the same weekend.

The mystery has been solved -- the untitled Marvel Studios tentpole that Warner Bros.' Batman-Superman movie will go up against on May 6, 2016, is Captain America 3, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.

I thought this would be appropriate:

Will watch Cap 3 second in order to wash down the terrible taste of Zack Snyder's Batman/Superman.

Seems ridiculously ballsy for Marvel to go up against the two most recognizable superheroes in the world.

Somebody's gonna flinch and move dates.

Cap is one of the most recognizable heroes in the world.

It really doesn't have to be a contest but DC wants Avengers money and Marvel can't stop making Superman and Wonder Woman knock-offs.

Batman/Superman will likely move to April. It would be pretty fun to see the two square off directly in the same weekend though.

If what Im hearing about how good Cap 2 is, its definitely possible Cap 3 could roll over DC. Not that I care though. Just a bunch of good movies to watch.

Seems like Marvel is just bluffing to see how much confidence WB has in their product. They probably already have a different date in mind internally.

If Cap 2 is as good as buzz indicates it is, Cap 3 could be a very, very big deal, especially on the heels of Avengers: Age of Ultron. It'll be interesting to see what happens here. I would assume that a Batman/Superman movie would have a larger mainstream draw than a Captain America movie, but the ever-growing popularity of the Marvel films continually surprises me.

One of? Sure, I guess. But Superman and Batman are THE two most recognizable superheroes, especially when you include worldwide statistics.

Now I'm not saying that makes Bats and Supes better, I'm more of a Marvel guy myself anyway, but you can't deny how iconic they are. Even a lousy Batman/Superman movie has a good chance of being a huge blockbuster.

Would be funny if, at this year's Comic-Con, Kevin Feige does a "one more thing" at the Marvel panel and Zack Snyder walks out. Cap3 and Batman vs. Superman are actually now one, four-hour Amalgam movie.

I see Sebastian Stan is signed for 9 films with Marvel. I wonder if he'll take over the character eventually.

I know Evans is signed for Cap for 6 films, and he wants to ease up on acting after that. I see it like this:

Cap 1
Avengers
Cap 2
Avengers 2
Cap 3
Avengers 3 - Cap Dies as the big death against Thanos, hugely emotional. End of Evans' contract.

Cap 4 - Sebastian Stan takes over.

It's not like there isn't precedent for it.

Cap 3 will have massive momentum coming off of Avengers 2.

I suspect it will do well, but it's still a third Captain America movie against the first time Batman and Superman will ever be in the same movie.

Lord help them if the promotional material is good or if we hear that Batman vs. Superman is better than expected.

Definitely. Superman 78 and Batman 89 were WB's biggest movies ever when they came out. They know what they stand to make.

Superman & Batman could be an amazing event or it can be a trainwreck brought down by all the factors thrown in by the Justice League setup. I'm a DC/Superman fanboy but the latter is my outlook.

Screw that. They need to adapt Superman vs Spider-Man first. ;P

Id be great if they would coordinate the release at the same week, im sure the hype and capitalizing on their raging fans would generate a lot of attention from the press.

Its just BS postering, it won't happen.

Yeah I really don't see both these films opening on the same week. They will eat at each other. Batman and superman will be the victor just because holy fuck those two are in a film together finally, but both would benefit much more from being spaced apart

Avengers was huge, but I don't see these cap films getting a boost nearly as large as Iron Man 3 did. Thor 2 for example just did alright and I imagine that's a bigger series than captain America. Rdj stark da gawd. They really need somebody as charismatic for phase 3

WHERE IS MY BLACK PANTHER MOVIE YOU DOUCHEBAGS

yes, I will continue to do this every time until they announce it

For a second after reading the title I thought that captain america would fight against Batman and Superman IN that movie, then I realized how ridiculous that sounded.

Anyways, Cap 3 will probably be better than Batman/Superman in my opinion after Man of Steel, but Batman/Superman will probably make way more money. I expect Marvel to delay it a month or two. (Maybe a July 4th release date? Please.)
