For a minute, I thought the title meant the next movie would be an epic fight between Captain American & Batman/Superman. I feel a little disappointed now. lol

It's been mindlessly going on since the late 60s. The shit is multi-generational at this point. That'd be like trying mop up an oil spill with a single q-tip. :)

I kind of like the idea but fear it would get cast off into the Community Thread Zone. Nothing ever returns from there.

At least the Big 2 had crossovers from time to time and could hash it out. Disney might not be into that though.

As for DB, I have a feeling if Superman and Goku fused, they would become this guy:

I thought Captain America was awful and I enjoyed Man of Steel. I'll give Captain America 2 a shot, but if it's as awful as 1, I'll have to go for the DVD on 3. And I dunno, Cap as a super hero was just never that appealing to me, he looked like a clown in Avengers just standing up on a car being useless and giving general orders that anyone could have barked.
 
Of course BvsS backed down .. Cap woulda ate their fucking lunch then gone to the bonfire to fuck Widow and puff an L with Tony.

They just haven't ramped up their machine enough at this point to compete. MoS was by no means shite (for that you have to go back to superman returns.. a steaming pile under any light) but it was just a palette cleanser to get kid superman out of everyones mind. If they would just lift the formula straight from Marvel and make a WW movie, then a new Batman, then a new GL and then a proper fucking Flash movie before going the JLA route they could be making billions by 2018 but... nope. Gotta skip training season and jump in the majors cause of dat cash. Gonna bite them in the ass I know it.

:/ I've never understood the comparison either but it has more to do with MoS, in no way, compares to DBZ's fight choreography. Like at all.

So Faora zips around fast..... So what, that doesn't grant it a DBZ comparison.

I've never seen the Dragonball anime but I did read the manga when I was really young and haven't touch it in years. The comparison between Superman and Goku never really crossed my mind until someone mentioned how they are both aliens made Jesus. The Internet has never been the same for me since.

Even if there are similarities, Man of Steel fights were based on Birdy the Mighty and not DBZ.
 
The main thing that makes the MoS and DBZ comparisons kinda silly is that Synder flat out said which anime he took inspiration from: "Birdy the Mighty: Decode."''

Loki was never about World Domination in the comics. He's not Doom. He has an understanding of the Universe and Asgards place in it. He wants what he feels is his birthright. He's nonchalant because he doesn't sweat the small stuff.

What's sad about DC for me is in general they have terrible hero names, terrible villain names. Little to no reason for them being nemesis. Terrible costume designs. Just boring bland characters.

Nu52 also killed my interest completely, but it was a long time coming. Infinite Crisis marked the slow march to the end, though some of my favorite stuff came afterwards (52(the weekly series), Morrison's work, small stuff like Blue Beetle, and the promising, but ultimately futile work on the bat-family). I don't know how Geoff Johns went from being one my favorites with early JSA to my worst nightmare. Basically, my one problem with DC is that it completely undid the legacy concept (homogenizing heroes in the process) and that was one of my favorite aspects of it; why I always preferred that universe.

Not that I'm following Marvel anymore either. Finally got event fatigued when Siege destroyed my three favorite things going (Mighty Avengers, Thor, and Dark Avengers) in one plot-resetting disaster of a comic. Then cosmic died down a bit. Think I'll pick up FF eventually since that sounds exactly like the comics I like to read.

EDIT: I get the feeling Marvel is too much at the mercy of their films, where they feel like returning to the status quo in time for the next big film release, because apparently they can't sell comics otherwise. IIRC, DC did the same thing for Batman.

The DBZ comparisons are only difficult to understand if you want to make it that way. Seeing how incredibly popular DBZ was/is in the USA, it's easy to see why people might think the fight scenes in MoS were similar.

Massive amounts of destruction. Guys getting punched through buildings. Normal humans with guns/weapons being helpless against the superpowered beings.

Sure, MoS is not a 1:1 comparison to DBZ, but it's not some some fucking giant leap to understand why some people might think the movie has the closest DBZ-like fight scenes we've seen yet on the big screen

I just think they're facile bullshit. :)

edit: They also willfully ignore the fact that these elements are inherent to superhero stories in general. Most people making the Dragonball comparison seem to believe the idea of superpowered people getting in giant fights originated in that series.

Superman getting in a fight in the middle of a city shouldn't really be compared to anything but SUPERMAN, since he's the fucking KING of punching shit really hard in 20th century fiction. So much so that the guy who created Dragonball admits he sampled heavily from Superman to create his work.

Im a HUGE DC fan but after 2 or 3 issues into New 52 I dropped everything and that was every single Bat related book, team books,etc.

Batman Eternal is bringing me back but that is the single title im buying until the New 52 is undone or its changes are fixed.
 
New 52 is pretty much trash.

It's also a failure in it's main effort, which was bringing in new readers. I remember that the number of new comics buyers thanks to the New 52 campaign topped out at something like 5% of all books sold?

All that time & effort and they got less than 10k new readers.

EDIT: per you edit, as I said before, DBZ's popularity is why the comparisons are made, not because people actually believe DBZ was the first to have those kind of fights.
 
I've shamefully ignored Adventures of Superman because it's sold first digitally and I don't really like buying digital versions of anything. Basically it's Supes stories told in the Pre-Flashpoint fashion but with less focus on continuity. Red trunks are included. Some arcs, including the upcoming one, roll Superman all the way back to the 1930s.

It's coming out slowly in paperback collections though.

This was the same time I stopped too. Dark Reign had a good thing going and then the ending event was only four issues. Also the Dark Reign run on War Machine was really fucking good. :/

I haven't read anything DC related since Blackest Night.
