Not entirely sure what you mean by the 'character design' being aged. Doesn't really make any sense.

Most rare designs are terrible, TERRIBLE. And they age worse.

they got the kongs themselves, conker himself, Joanna dark, and arguably krystal depending on who you speak to.

Everything else in their games looks... very generic giant googly eyes on things. Bam its a character, very lazy.

And they age even worse.
 
Seriously though, would it be possible for 007 to be in smash 4, or would licensing issues get in the way? He would be an incredible character to reveal at E3 for the shock value.

This why I wish Nintendo kept at least Rare's franchises. Not because of Banjo-Kazooie or Conker, but because of Perfect Dark and Killer Instinct. They'd fill some niches Nintendo doesn't really have right now.

Yeah, I know Nintendo didn't publish Perfect Dark (outside of Japan) or Conker, but still.
 
The Banjo Kazooie soundtrack is one of the most unique in video games. It's hardly forgettable, and most certainly not "awful".

It's not 'awful' in the sense of being objectively bad and poorly put together (like Sonic's Lost Brotherhood, or whatever the fuck it's called), but it's nothing I would go back and listen to; it's unenjoyable. It's only 'unique' in the sense that it's goofy context-pandering that could never stand on it's own outside of it's own game. A soundtrack should supplement it's stage, not be chained to it or else it feels too contrived. But that seems to be my beef with a lot of western and Hollywood composers. David Wise, however, does not have that problem. It's 'unique' in the sense that it can't be heard as anything other than 'derpy cartoon bear' music.
 
Soundtracks aren't like studio albums, they're supposed to supplement the game and Banjo Kazooie does that sublimely. That's not being contrived and doesn't in any way degrade the quality of the soundtrack. Of course, soundtracks that you can listen to outside of a game are great too, like the Hotline Miami one, but they don't all have to be like that.
 
Is Banjo-Kazooie's soundtrack unique? Yes, certainly it is. I never argued about its uniqueness, now did I? I said I think it sounds awful.

You can argue as much as you want about musical taste, because it will never lead to anything. I like music you don't like, you like music I don't like, and that's that. You can't argue against taste, especially not with rational argument.

I don't like the Banjo-Kazooie soundtrack mostly because of the overabundance of horns/tuba. It makes it sound like the composer decided he wanted to turn the flatulence he suffered from too much chili into songs, listened to the melody that came out of his ass and wrote it down. I haven't played Banjo-Kazooie as a kid, either, which is why I don't have any nostalgia for the soundtrack. I'm sure there's a few tracks that are okay or don't feature the horns as much, but most of it does.

Oh also, I'm not kidding when I say it still haunts my dreams - Banjo-Kazooie music is the soundtrack to my nightmares.

Don't dare suggest a character who didn't orginally come from a videogame around these parts no matter how much the character makes sense for the game, it drives a lot of people here crazy.

Have there been any suggested beside Bond? I can't think of any other licensed characters that had a definitive video game as a nintendo exclusive.

Not counting the trolls and small children on miiverse suggesting shonen jump characters.

With some rumors out there of a global release for this game, do you guys think it's likely?

The pokemon global release at least shows Nintendo is moving towards having their major hitters to impact the market at the same time. There is also the fact that Sakurai seems to have an issue with spoilers, so a global release would work against that. Thoughts?

Amazing? Seeing every secret about the game revealed and not being able to play it for another 5 months was amazing? It was fucking torture man.
 
Even though it'll never happen, I'd enjoy seeing Master Chief in SSB4 for several reasons:

1) MS doesn't have enough representatives to make a fighter crossover. Shooters, of course, would still be fair game.
2) Chief's used such a ridiculously high amount of tech in his career, even in-game, that he could very easily pull a Snake and not use any conventional, bullet-firing weapons. At the same time, he's still got a ton that aren't entirely explosive - Plasma Rifles (which I could see working as a a damage increaser with little knockback), the Needler, frickin laser beams, etc.
3) In addition to straight-up handheld weapons, he's also got access to several useful pieces of equipment that could work their way into a nonstandard moveset (jetpack for recovery, etc.)
4) Uniquely, despite weighing about a metric ton, he's had fairly high movement speed and extremely high jumps since the original title. Having a floaty bipedal firearm user would provide a pretty nice contrast to Snake's playstyle.
5) The one bullet-based weapon I could see making it in is the Assault Rifle, which has such future-ish sci-fi projectiles (bullets, but they've all got obnoxious yellow tracers on them) that it could earn a pass. I could even see it working as his pummel rather than being used as a distance weapon.
6) Potential for huge-range attacks (final smashes) are pretty much limitless.

I could almost see a scenario working where Chief mostly uses fisticuffs for tilts, an Energy Sword for smashes, a Jetpack for recovery and then has a couple of the more iconic weapons at his disposable that can be switched through with Down B. Neutral B could be to fire said weapon which would all have unique properties (I'm talking 4, maybe 5 weapons maximum here), and then his Side Specials could be for a juke, for example using his little Thruster Pack thing.

If you really want to go off the rails, he could have a Little Mac-styled overlay just above his % meter that has a minimal Halo HUD-looking count of ammunition he's got for the weapon on hand. So, like, you'd have limited use of your ranged / projectile weapons, and they'd all reload on a new stock.
 
Wtf is this bashing on Banjo Kazooie crap? BK is a fantastic game and so is its sequel and its music is really damn good. Blame Microsoft for buying out Rare and ruining everything

Yeah, seriously. I'm not a huge fan of the BK games (Tooie in particular I didn't enjoy very much at all), but the music is consistently quite good. I mean, Banjo-Kazooie's hub music alone is fantastic enough to rocket the OST up a few quality notches.

On the subject of Banjo, I always wondered... if Banjo-Kazooie had managed to make it as playable in Melee, do you think Nintendo would have worked harder to keep Rare? Granted, I'm not sure what they could have done, but... maybe in that case they would've tried to get the rights to BK at the very least?
