Pop a lifegem the moment it happens and then another when the first one stops working, if you time it right you'll have hardly lost any HP.
Was I the only one who would routinely buy dozens of lifegems at a time from the merchant at Majula every time I went back there? They're so handy to have.
All spare souls from level ups go on life gems or throwing knives (they got a buff do usually 100-120 damage plus seem have longer range great luring out enemies)

People on the GameFAQs cleric thread say the macr is a waste of time.
Right now I'm entering iron keep and will get the ember needed to put lightning on my claymore. Love the claymore moveset. I'm rocking the chime you get from the faith trainer for having higher than 30 faith.
Tried farming the Alonne Knights again for the Black Steel Katana. Got it on the second try! I took it to +6, but my Uchigatana +7 still overpowers it, even though the BSK has an S scaling in DEX.
I spent a lot of time being a Sunbro and helping people take care of the Snake Lady. I was summoned about a dozen times, had to teach half the hosts to burn the windmill.
After that I went to Lost Bastille and beat the Sentinels. Man, there's a lot of illusionary walls in that area.
I don't get the Ring of Life Protection complaints. You don't have to wear it if it annoys you so much. Let the people who feel like they need it use it. Stop complaining about it or wanting it to be patched.
Good to hear that the game picks up toward the end, which is almost opposite of Dark Souls. I'm already really enjoying the game so I'm looking forward to it.
I just got invaded. My character has 65 int and Homing Crystal Soulmass...so yeah. I hit him three times and he had no shield but his lifebar was still full. Wtf?
Don't have a lot of time to keep up with the rest but, I'm slowly making progress. Been doing more exploring than making actual progress. Also been making some amatuer mistakes and looking tons of souls. Finished up the second boss of the Forest and have been exploring the Bastille and Huntsman's Copse. How do you get to the Warf? The door is closed and I'm not sure how to open it.

Use... items? Pssshaaww. I hate disposables. I've used maybe 10 lifegems the whole game so far, no torches, and only a single effigy at the beginning. I'm level 110. It's also the reason I don't use magic, the limited number of casts (while makes perfect sense) just doesn't jive with me.
I'm still on NG. Killed maybe 2 dozen knights to get the BSK. I also got 3 sets of their armor as well.
For large titanites, just get the Dull Ember from Iron Keep and give it to McDuff. He'll sell unlimited Large Titanite from that point onwards. Chunks, join the bell covenant and you get them as a reward for successfully defending the bell tower. That reminds me, I gotta do this soon...

Go down the stairs behind the cat's house in Mujala. Pull on a chain to open the floodgate and then you'll get to a new area. Beat a boss there and that'll open up a path to the Wharf.
Edit- I notice you've been to Huntsman Copse, so I take it you beat
Dragonrider
? There's an elevator near the boss arena that'll lead you to the Wharf.
) my opinion of the game has shot up through the roof.
Initially I was like : ok - the game is good, really good - better than other games for sure, but feels like it's lacking a bit of "soul".... then you sort of hit those levels - and it's kind of amazing.
Initial impressions would be 'good, but not as good as DKSI - but close' .... now I'm starting to think 'maybe ... maybe this is going to be better than DKSI'.
I also like
The Black Gulch
- even though it's not a place I look forward to revisiting on NG+ and other playthroughs, it is one of those levels that gets sort of this base guttural reaction out of you. Going through that moment of 'what the fuck?! this is impossible' .... to figuring out how to best approach it, then realizing that it's actually not that bad once you figure out the 'tricks' of the level.
I ended my session last night after just entering the
Undead Crypt
and can't wait until I'm off work to get back at it.
But on another topic: I would really like to make a pure huge weapon character and I'm not sure how to do it. In the end I'd like to be able to use a big shield and something like ultra greatsword as a combo, as much metal on me as possible. What kind of stat spread should I go for this time? Anyone have a similar one? Also the weapon choice should work for pvp purposes.
Anyone else think that bosses generally hit a lot harder in this game. Almost all of them have been able to 2 shot me it feels, and some have one shottted me when I've been going in with 75% health.
I'd say yeah, but I'm not the best judge since I'm rolling with about 8 Vit right now. Pretty much anything can one shot me if I mess up my dodge rolls.

This is good to know. I'm dual wielding and was wondering if it'd be worth it to level up my stats so I can dual wield the BSK. Guess I'll just stick to my Falchion/Dark Uchigatana combo.
Another question: I've been using a standard Falchion and casting Magic Weapon on it. If I make it say a Lightning Falchion instead, can I still cast on it and does the extra damage stack? Or is it writer to just leave it plain since I'm high in Dex but low in Lightning bonus?

same here for most of the game. i'm going with light armor and lower vit. not so fun when you have 3 bosses swarming you and you have trouble keeping them in sight.
Thats pretty much my exact thought, DKSI had a strong start and then starts to go down hill late game. DKSII - weak start, but seems to be getting a very strong mid/late game.
In DKSI, whenever doing another run - I star to lose steam after I get The Lord Vessel.
Am I the only one who can't stand that they removed vibration when you block / get hit? I find it very disorientating and have to constantly glance up to see if I got hit since I can't always tell. Why they removed this after 2 games I don't understand.
yup, annoys me
i also don't like how the controller vibrates for like a second straight when you get summoned into someone's world haha
i dont really get what the point of that is

You need 25 DEX to use the BSK, so if you want to use it in Power Stance you'd need 38 DEX. I was planning on taking DEX to 40 anyways, so if you were gonna do the same it would be viable.
Unless you're planning on leveling up Faith, is advise against making a Lightning Weapon. Just level up on the normal path and use Resins.

I think you can get by with just Estus Flasks if you don't want to waste Lifegems (they're cheap but I like to hoard them ). That's what I did anyway. It's best to take that area in chunks. Explore a little this way, explore a little that way, etc. You can also quickly grab all the items in the poison areas too. The big dudes that shoot hexes at you are slow.
Also, I do buy Lifegems frequently. At 300 souls a pop, they're pretty cheap. And they're useful.
The input lag is killing the game for me, also the old humanity system was so good. It's so hard to turn back to human now and most of the time when I do turn to human it happens because of the co op glitch where you join someone and when you come back to your world you may end up becoming human.
The game world also doesn't feels as cohesive as the first one, plus far too many dark areas, nothing like Anor Londo or The Duke's Archive yet.
Bandit. Starts out with high HP (not as high as Knight but still fine), good Str/Dex, high Vitality so you can equip some heavier stuff, and a bow (plus axe).
Bandit also starts with the least wasted points in any of the "magic" stats, so if you don't plan to use magic at all, this is the best class for min/maxing (if you care about that).

Huh? You don't just use the human effigies? I've got like 20 of them and am constantly finding them. I just use those whenever I want to turn human. Of course I don't die that often either so mileage may vary.

I'm currently using a +5 Bastard Sword. Love the moveset but I wonder if I should start using another weapon soon. I'm currently using an Estoc +3 as my secondary.

I've got a few Phallanx, Phallon, I keep forgetting, but I;ve got a few of them stones you can place in walls and it opens secrets. What are good places to place them in for loot? \
And also, Havest Valley question: my ass keeps getting
Can I just say how wonderful the new UI and inventory in this game is? It's such a huge improvement of the others. Things are much less tedious and I can easily keep track of all the gear I have now. Oh and I like the ability to hide the HUD when not fighting, makes immersion much better.

i'd agree with you but...
who's fucking bright idea was it to not show the bonuses on stats from scaling until you equip the item?
makes managing your equipment SO much more tedious because you have to constantly equip shit to see what the actual stats are

Yea, I imagine weapons that are half-assed like that won't be very good. Chimes will prob still have higher damage modified for miracles and regular weapons will prob hit harder.
I've also read that many are building up to get the Defender's greatsword, supposedly the strong attacks coats the weapon in a lightning energy buff which might be useful. I'm also sceptical about that one tho.
climb up the ladder inside the central furnace then work your way to the back past the armored hammer things, use a pharros stone to reveal the bonfire.
Alternatively use the door in the smelting demons chamber bonfire and take a right.

Don't you need both the Str and Dex requirements for dual wielding though? I'm already at 30 Dex so I guess it's feasible. And will do on the lightning. I'll save it for my hexer playthrough.
