Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

I just beat the game. Such an amazing game! Pretty much a perfect game in my opinion :) The only thing that i wish was a bit different at times is that the bonfires would be a bit closer to some of the bosses. I can just run past most of the enemies anyway, and if you kill them 10-15 times, they also dissapear for good(?), so its not like putting a bonfire a bit closer to some of the bosses would make the game a lot easier. It would mostly just save some running after dying. A few bonfires were very close to the boss
like the big rat boss and The Rotten
as well.

Now that i have beaten the game, i have some questions :)

1) The 2nd journey to Drakeleic, or something like that, that is basically "new game+", right?
2) Around the area of The Lost Sinner there are some doors, where do i find that key?
3) Where do i find the item that allows you to walk on lava rocks without dying after 1 second?
4) Some places throughout a game i encountered a knight that was just sitting there. Is there anything special with him? I killed him one time and i got Heide Sword.
5) What is the point of ringing the bell at Belfry Sol?
6) Is it possible to go aboard on the boat at the harbor? If so, how do you do that?

Let me try to better explain.

Big soapstone is for a phantom summon. Small soapstone is for a shade summon.

Big soapstone limits are player +/- your soul level and within 50000 souls of the total souls you collected. In turn you can stay in a world for a long time to help.

Small soapstones have a MUCH wider limit and in turn you can only stay a short time making it ideal for bosses.

That's not true. I've summoned people on the edge of this summon range calculator: http://darksouls2.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator

It's 25% soul memory difference, not 50k souls.
 
So I decided to buy Dark souls 2 out of the blue without any previous knowledge (except that it's a nightmare, obviously). So... 1 hour in and I just finished the tutorial
(without killing those giants at the beginning)
. Then I rage quit. Is this normal?

I would love you long time. I respected my stats to use a Faintstone on a weapon and only afterwards realized I didn't have one..

I found the beginning of DS2 harder than DS1(and oddly, the tutorial was worse despite the fact that they said it would be better), so yeah I can understand that. I'd honestly play DS1 first for an easier time in the beginning.

She's not that hard, were it not for the
continuous poisened status that forces me to heal, therefore giving her a chance to attack, therefore killing me. I found that one of Elisabeths Mushrooms works quite well, but I only had 1. I'm sort of out of radiant healing gems as well.

You can
lower the poison level in the boss fight area

After the belfry in the bastille. Use a pharos stone below the servant's quarters
3.
You don't. Just gotta crank up that fire resist, cast the sweat spell, and roll around in the water spawned by the pharos locks and then go for it.
4.
I think they are just there to fight, but not sure.
5.
I don't think you can get to the end (locked door) without ringing the bell
6.
In no man's wharf, you ring a bell at the top which summons the ship to dock, board the ship, fight a boss, and ride the boat to the opposite dock in the bastille

At the area where one enemy runs away from the first time (if you didnt kill him in time) and closes the gate, there is a bonfire. Spawn on that bonfire and very close to it there is a windmill. Light a torch on the bonfire and go to that windmill and set it on fire.
 
So I beat the game yesterday, and I've being doing everything I think I need to do before NG+. Can someone give me a link or description of where to find all the estus shards? I only have 7. Also how many soul vessels are there?
 
I hate how often they fall back on the "Lets have multiple bosses at the same time" gimmick. They always follow the exact same path to you and attack right after each other, making it impossible to find an "in" unless you're very, very lucky.

These Gargoyles, for example. They're always right on top of each other and by the time one finishes an attack the other is winding up. These battles are always so aggravating.
 
uh, I'm lost now (late'ish game question):
I've lit all those stupid flames and beaten the four old ones. now what? people don't tell me much in majula, the cat suggested to visit the king. I tried to open the door in the shaded woods but nothing. there's some crystallization in the spider-boss room, do I have to do something with it?

I found the beginning of DS2 incredibly easy, and this time I started with a deprived, so I was punching things for a while. The tutorial is pretty much the same, you just read some signs and and follow a path.

Great, thanks for the answers! :) I'm out of Pharos Stones by the way :( Is there anywhere where i can get those? I think i've collected most treasures and i have bought the one that one merchant is selling.

Which door in the shaded woods did you try to open? You should be able to enter the shrine of winter now (the left door at the fork). If not, then you don't actually have the 4 big boss souls.

Not to that point myself, but I believe you should go to the mansion in majula.
The basement has a map that has fires light up every time you light a primal bonfire.

The 1 estus thing threw me off, the actual tutorial area has no boss so it wouldn't teach a newb much, and I was using the explorer's crappy dagger. I found it a much harder start than DS1, after the tutorial anyway.

yeah, the one of the spider is missing. and there's some crystallized thing in the (spider-boss) room now, don't know what to do with it.

I... don't recall *doing* anything to it. I just walked over and picked it up.
Did you fight the guy after the spider and light the primal bonfire?

There is another passage that opens after you have beaten the spider boss. Maybe its not easy to see, but its somewhere in that cave.

Join the
rat
covenant and wear the ring in
pharos
. Defeating the opponent grants a lockstone + covenant item.
 
Apparently someone on Reddit tested scaling and DEX scales at about half the amount STR scales for. So for a quality build STR is actually more important than DEX.

I just walked up the center of the windmill, torch in hand, then I punched with my sword and fell off ;_;

What I mean is, I still have no clue.

there was this red glowing orb and I touched it, then it turned blue'ish. I killed the guy in the library who had the key and the headless (vangrial?) knight. lit the bonfire and warped back to majula. because of the key went back to open the door before the boss/spiderweb area to find a chest. running back to the primordial fire I noticed that crystallization in the boss room. looked at it and hit it, but nothing. still only got 3 old souls so
I don't know what I'm missing here? :/
 
Oh my god I am getting so pissed off at (end game boss)
Ancient Dragon. I've gone naked since he one shots me anyway and I still can't escape his fire sometimes. He's so big that sometimes it's hard to spot the start of the animation because his leg takes up the whole screen and by the time he jumps into the air it can be too late. The only consistent way I've found to dodge it is just to sprint towards his tail while he's in the air but then we end up on the edge of the arena and I am pretty much fucked. Such a terrible, annoying fight. Also, I can guaran-fucking-tee that I am going to choke when I finally get him a few hits from death and want to throw the controller out window

I think there is only two exists, the one that you went into first to fight the boss, and the other exit that opens when you complete the boss.

For me, immediately after the boss, still in the boss room, I walked up to a thing on the ground, pressed x, and got the soul. So... I have no idea sorry =\

Dragonrider great shield is doing well for me I think most the boss weapons and items seem crap at moment. Kind of just using the souls to get weapons as feel like pointless absorbing them for souls or keeping in item box.

Do you have a grym greatshield and the strength to wield it?
Unless the dragon is right above you, I was able to block the fire with it 100%. It would hit twice and the 2nd hit would stagger me but the stagger animation was invincible for the rest of the fire washing over me.
 
Any tips for
Dragon Shrine? When I get to the wide staircase where there the enemies come in pairs, I can't seem to aggro the greatsword wielding dudes individually and in a pair they absolutely wreck me. I managed to kill them once but got mauled by the hammer + shield dudes by the large doors. Im pure melee.

I keep thinking "this would be SO easy if I was a int build" alot more in this game than in previous ones, it does seem like easy mode.
