Shaded Woods questions:

What is the point of that one half-scorpion/half guy npc? He doesn't talk to me.

Also, what was with the lion enemy below him? He didn't vanish like normal enemies and doesn't give souls. His dead body is just on the ground. He had more HP than other lion enemies, too.

Get
ring of whisper
and talk to him.
He will help you fight against the boss
.

I just combed through the gutter again and found another one that gets stronger the more hollow you get.

A Pyro glove? Nice!

How do you use the spells on it, I can't remember? Is it adding them at the Bonfire, if so I don't have enough slots :( How high level do you need to add another?

Whaddup with the door at the bottom of the
mushroom cave at the start of Huntsman's copse
? what do I need to get through?

Respeced to a strength/hex build and using the (ng+ weapon spoiler)
crypt blacksword
, infused with dark. The thing gets S scaling with dark and when I add the dark weapon hex on top of that, I can one shot things like the turtle knights in
Iron Keep
. I've also been having pretty good success in PvP, though magic-users still mess me up sometimes.

You're right, he wasn't too bad at all.

Also now,
Pyromancy glove finally! I wondered when it would turn up!

hm so i tried putting down my soapstone on the ground anyways, and it looks you can't anywhere on the ship. wonder if that's a limitation due to how the ship can exist in two different spots in people's games.

your action button? A for 360.

NG+ seems legitimately insane in this game. I only used 1 bonfire ascetic in Brightstone, and the 3 red phantoms I ran into were harder than any single enemy in the entire NG run.

Although when I left the rat covenant, he was pretty pissed at me and said my transgression would not go unpunished or something like that. But then he let me back in.
Well, at least half the people are pissy little assholes if you don't do exactly what they want you to do (joining a covenant, buying something, whatever) so I guess it's probably not worth sweating until they start attacking.

The design annoys me in one key way that wasn't there at all in Demon's Souls as I recall and was MOSTLY absent until the end game in Dark Souls II: one way paths. Like you fall down a ledge or something and can't go back. I guess this was a result partially of the bonfire warps, but I don't like it much design-wise and it's outright infuriating occasionally, IE
Brightstone Cove Tseldora
where you're able to drop down a relatively small ledge and be unable to go back the path you went down since you can't just pull yourself up or anything. This seems to ONLY exist to arbitrarily block your path back, like a linear shooter or action game, so it's kind of frustrating in a game and series that can be really good about exploration.

Oh god, finally. I finally have time to sit around and play this.

I was on a complete media blackout since the initial gameplay reveal trailer (which I didn't completely watch), so I'm hoping that this will be great....

Oh and I will be streaming it as much as I can, so if you want to watch the start now (haven't even fired up the game), here is my twitch: www.twitch.tv/soral

If I can't put that in my post, let me know and I'll take out immediately. Just have friends who will watch and I figured why not.

Maybe you can't walk right back up the ledge, but I can't think of very many instances where there isn't some way to get back to that same area without a homeward bone. The first bonfire in Bastille is a very one though. I have no idea why they did that.

Your brightness settings are probably too high then. Using the recommended ones (ie can't see the symbol on the calibration screen at the beginning of the game) you shouldn't see extremely well.

I can see most areas clearly and my brightness is set at minimum. At least one stage after the dragon becomes invisible.

Yup, you still attune spells at the bonfire. For slots you need attunement. The first slot unlocks at 10 attunement, then 13, 16 and 20. (don't have more myself yet so I can't say how much attunement you need for more)

Again, pleease help: HELP:
Quick question about convenants: im now in the " Waymof Blue" convenant. Ive gotten 30 Tokens of Fidelity and a ring from the guy in Majula. Can I leave this convenat an join Blue Sentinals? Or just kill the guy in the church?

Darn I had like 600 likes on my forest ahead message right before you enter the forest of Fallen Giants (the room where you have to pull the contraption to raise the door and wait for it to load) is now deleted form my written history. Does From delete messages over time?

your action button? A for 360.

dumbest I've felt in any of all three of the souls games combined. lol

I was invaded twice and lost two notches on the health bar as I knew it was something simple and didnt want to bone out.....torches, jumping attack, which doesnt seem to work in water, or am I dumb again?

I guess they want it to be a reward for beating
the Pursuer.

This messed me up for a long time in the network test, I thought for a second that room was just broken or something. I even summoned a phantom down there and we couldn't get out. So don't feel dumb! Even with that experience, I forgot that illusory walls are activated with the action button this time for my first dozen or so hours.

Agreed. There were several times where I'd assumed there's a way back because that's how it always was in the other games, unless it's a boss bonfire or something.

OK, thanks for the replies. I now have an idea about how to get more Effigys because I've been stuck with only 1 or 2 for a long time and was worried of being stuck in a difficult area with only half of my health bar.

Also I'm currently above a 100 Soul level, is it necessary to go any higher? I'm having difficulty tackling a few of the bosses (
Royal Rat Authority, Smelter Demon
)but at this point I think gear might make the greater difference than level.

how do I get all the goodies on the lava ground in iron peak?
I assume you mean Iron Keep

I tried it also but nope. Put on my highest flame resist gear (
Smelter Demon set
and flame resist rings) and died not even half way there (the one to the right of the bridge from the first bonfire)

I guess I could try with flash sweat also but I doubt it helps that much.

Oh man pure dex pvp is so much fun all the strength builds keep swinging and missing letting me stab and stunlock them. Ricard's Rapier OP From nerf nao.

Eventually want to see if I can trade some boss souls with someone to get two.

The only way I found was mitigating the damage as much as possible with fire resistance. There is also a Pharros contraption over the first archer you see in the room with bridge. You can activate it to make a pool of water appear and then roll in it to soak your clothes with water further decreasing fire damage.

idk if it's been explained but what's the story lore wise of what No Man's Wharf is about? That's probably the most interesting area to me since a
pirate cove
feels out of place in a Souls game

Get the Mirror Knight Shield, which can reflect magic back at the caster :)

Haha oh wow at my (probably around tenth) attempt at S
melter Demon
where My character got stuck in the wall when he/she had only barely 10% health left.

Managed to beat him with my blind katana spamming but I felt my heart was going to stop right there.

Man, I just got the game and everyone's on NG+ already. Thanks for nothing Amazon lol.

Started the game and I was getting massacred by the giant stone knights, that mace one in particular. Then after going to the right path I had to stop at bonfire 2. Seems like there's a long way to go in this game, but I noticed I'm not getting ganked in the lower level areas like in DS1.

ah yeah, iron keep

that doesn't help with the goodies by the first bonfire though? D:

You can leave and rejoin covenants at any time. No need to kill anyone.

I'm going to ask what might be a really stupid question... but I'm confused.

Are chest and items supposed to... "respawn"? I continued my game today, and realized there were items lying around (the usual nameless soldier souls and the like) that I know I already took... and then I noticed all the chests I already opened were closed again, and have their items again too.
I haven't used any "Bonfire Ascetic" or whatever, I don't even have one of those. I don't even know if those make the chest respawn too or just the enemies, but just in case.

The torches I lighted are also out now again, if that matters, that's the first thing I noticed but I don't know, maybe those last a set time? I started paying yesterday :P
But the thing with the chests... I don't think that's supposed to happen, is it? Has my map just... reset, or is this normal and I'm being a noob?

I prepared this post for the thread that just got closed so I'll just post it here:

Fuck.... Lego Dark Souls..... oh the amount of bricks I would lose....

If I recall correctly from some of the armor descriptions,
vikings attempted to attack Drangelic, and after the viking raider guys were defeated, they were put to work at the main harbor of Drangelic. Then I'm assuming like everywhere else, things went to shit when everyone went hollow.

Beat the game today.
Even though
the ending
didn't do anything for me,
and I didn't like the
Drangleic Castle
nor the
Shrine of Amana (until I started to use the bow there)
,
and the
final boss-lady-Nito
was pretty annoying,
this was still a fantastic ride and a satisfying Souls sequel. More, please!
