I've done all of this. Yes, I killed them RIGHT NEXT to the statue and it still won't work (even though it worked for the other statue). I've seen videos of people doing the exact same thing and it works for them. =/

Well shit. Just to mention the other guys commenting are wrong. The enemies keep respawning so you cant kill them all.

Does anyone ever feel like they suck when they summon people for help? When you think about it, some of the people you're summoning beat the boss all by themselves while you had to rely on others for help. The bosses seem so damn easy with others with you. I was summoned for the final boss and we won in a little over a minute.

What area did you go to first in the game?

I went into The Forest of Fallen Giants at SL 8, playing Deprived. Had no uasuable weapons except a dagger which broke, and from there used 4 hours to punch myself through to the second bonfire and killed the last giant with my bare hands.
After that I killed the White Knight with a new shitty dagger and took his sword, now SL 17.

Heidi Straightsword is so good.

Had an unusually hard time with the first Drangleic Castle boss :/
The red Dragonrider was pretty relentless while the black one was a huge pain in the butt
Thankfully that was conquered!

I was summoned to a boss fight and the host had a giant club that did an insane amount of damage. More than the other phantom and me. Didn't even know why he had to summon us, lol

Fuck, what a beast.

I finally found the ultra greatsword with S strength scaling
King's Greatsword
but it's moveset is terrible :(

Why do so many of the big weapons have vertical attacks? Slow vertical attacks are terrible.

I like to put down my summon sign on bosses I've never fought in order to get a good idea about what I might be in for. Didn't do this with every boss but I've definitely done it on bosses I'd never killed previously. I must have helped people fight Lost Sinner eight or nine times before I took him on myself.

I've had mixed experiences on boss fights. Some guys are absolute monsters and some are dreadful and in some cases die before I get through the mist.

There is some balance thrown into the mix, since the more people you summon the more health the boss gets.

Thanks, man! He was saying some ominous stuff. Basically telling me to get the F out of there if I valued my life, haha

Youll be wise to stay out of my tower.
Ill bring the thunder down on you.

Edit: No i wont, i'm actually done with that covenant now. with nothing but man sized midget clothes to show for it. *facepalm*

Think the idea is for the vertical attack to stagger enemies, giving you the time needed to wind up a follow-up attack

That's how the Zweihander worked in DaS1 anyway

You bare fisted the giant? Man, you missed plenty of weapons along the way/

I feel summoning is the equivalent of using "easy mode" in other games. Because quite honestly as long as the people you summon aren't terrible they can turn almos any boss into a joke.

I admit I have felt tempted to summon people in 1-2 places but I allways tell myself that I can beat it alone (and I allways can)

He doesn't attack you, but...

Eh, even if you join, they...

I started deprived just for that feeling of everything I find being awesome. totally worked.

Speaking of Giant STR based swords, does anyone have any good recommendations? Are Claymore/Zwei good in this game? (where do you even find those two?) What about any of the super giant swords and/or boss soul swords?

Whoever brought it up earlier, I'm also enjoying Miracles way more than in Dark Souls 1. FROM gives you quicker access to the fun ones, and Emit Force + Lightning Spear + the AoE lightning bolts allowed me to (covenant spoiler)
defend the Bellfry Luna from trespassers to farm some Titanite Chunks
in the sleaziest way possible. Heal as well, for when there's a lull in combat or when I decide to run back to
the black phantom dwarves
for cover. Being able to upgrade your Chime (this game's Talisman) helps too.

That said, I wish I had more access to Titanite Shards already to experiment with a couple of other weapons. I want to try out the Morning Star (with its bleed effect) for example to see if it'll do more damage than my Cleric's default +4 or +5 Mace, but I can't even get it to that state since I don't have the weakest ore to upgrade it. Only 20 hours into the game though so eh, I guess I'll be patient.

What was the point of killing that [mid-late game spoiler]
big queen bug spewing gas out at the top of the Gutter
? It just seems like a dead end up there, and you have to go through a mist wall and everything.

Claymore is a regular greatsword, and has an excellent moveset for pvp. Zwei has terrible stat scaling now and ultra greatswords are fairly low tier in pvp anyways so I wouldn't recommend it.

You can get a claymore in
the foggy forest area, hug the left wall and you'll reach a merchant

Make sure you exhaust said merchants dialogue too if you are after the trophies.

Btw regarding him
Where is his
Body

Thanks, I'm guessing I haven't reached that area yet, the only
forest Ive been to is Giants and I'm currently exploring the place past where you pay the Faith girl to change the path in Majula
. Although, I'm not very concerned with PVP at all, I generally tend to play these games pretty much as a single player experience, so as long as weapons are good for PVE and are cool, I'm happy.

Side note, I just got Ricards Rapier and it seems like it has a really awesome moveset, almost enough to make me respec into dex. Is this sword good when leveled up?

JhhOj1O.jpg

Why is your Soul Memory so high? I'm like lv 120 and only at 1.5 million. Ended up buying a lot of things?

Some bosses are a hell of alot easier alone then with summons. I gave up on getting help for smelter demon since most summons just died allt quicker then me. His moves are rather easy to avoid too once you learn them.

Bell covenant is god damm fun. I feel like I actually dont suck at pvp this time around :)

Why? Does he unlock more items (required for trophies) by talking to him more?

You can get his helmet, and if you go back to him later (after killing his body) he sells more weapons/shields
Also I think you get the trophy just for exhausting his dialogue if I remember right.

I assume he did a lot of jolly cooperation.

hahah yeh love cooping bosses in this game. The fact that the servers work also helps. I'd hate to see my soul memory. I have like 40 Tokens of Fidelity and around 40 Sunlight medals. Only level 95 atm, too.

Yea I'm sitting at like 15 extra sunlight medals after maxing out
sunbro
covenant. Co-op has been fun and very rewarding. I also enjoy seeing other peoples builds and how they fare against specific bosses. Taking notes for my next build.

Killing his body? I am not there yet, so not sure what that means. Unless that means you kill the NPC, then he reappears later?

I think it's a lot more interesting to just find him and see what he is, he's the coolest NPC in my opinion, good voice acting too. but in case you just can't wait
it's just his head on a pile of rocks. He used to be a great warrior but after he got decapitated he finds it more fun to just chill out. His body is still out tearin it up though.

Got totally hosed by a naked gray phantom who was trolling me in the bell tower. Was never so amused/annoyed at the same time.

As a sorcerer I've been running around in the default robes un-upgraded all this time. Time to find something worth improving before going back.

I think I'm about 3/4 of the way through the game. I've got 3
major souls, Lost Sinner, the Rotten, and the Old Iron King
but have no idea where to go. Is the
Doors of Pharros
area a dead end?

So I finally killed targray and got his armour and halberd. Getting used to the halberd moveset takes time, but it seems decent. Should be better once I've added lightning to it, right now I'm just rocking the minimum stats to use it - 18 STR/20 DEX.

Quite a stat whore on a cleric build, but I need to stop worrying about min maxing and just enjoy my 1st playthrough.

You don't lose rank in covenants if you switch between them, right? I want to get the level 2 rewards for both the bell and sunbro covenants but kid of want to switch back and forth between the two so I don't get bored of one particular type of play.

Also spoilers for bell covenant later game:
If you're a part of the covenant and wear the ring and have both Belfries unlocked, can you be summoned to either? Or so you have to hang out near one or the other?

I joined the bell, and often go naked with a channelers trident and just dance. The reactions have largely been awesome. once now a second bell grey has pulled out a trident and we both just followed the host around dancing as he wrapped up the area and challeneged the boss.

No it leads to the next area where you'll need to go.

So, finally here :)

My first post in this thread and.... well.... I'm totally disappointed.
I was under media blackout, so please (if you can and want) answer my questions, if possible:

1. What the hell happened with the animations of the character and the monsters?
First time they have used motion cap and it sucks ass.
Sometimes, it looks like the main character and the monsters are gliding on rails or ice. Absolutely horrible!
The animations in DS1 were great. Why ruining it with this crappy mo-cap work? :(
I already saw it in the first trailers (and talked about it, here, on Neogaf) and somebody here said "they know about it and they're gonna fix it in the end". Welp.... didn't happen :(

2. Why in the hell would you remove the "kick"?
In DS1, I could kick the enemies away from me, etc. Now you can only "push" them, which sucks. WTF is this shit? Why removing it?

3. What happened with the combat errrr..... hit detection in DS2?
Hitting an enemy with my sword feels and looks like I'm hitting him with a small/thin iron stick. There is absolutely no weight behind it. I don't "feel" it anymore.
It was perfect in DS1.

4. Main issue: WHAT HAPPENED WITH THE RUMBLE?
I mean.... where is it? Played for 20 hours now and my controller rumbled twice! Two times, in 20 hours!!! What happened here? Checked the options/settings, etc. --> Rumble should be there, but it isn't. What's going on here? :(

Am I the only one here?
Playing it for some time now and I'm getting used to it (to all the downgraded/removed stuff, which was better in DS1), but... what the hell?!?! ;_;

No, i ranked up belltower covenant to 2. then switched just so i could try some others out then went back.
Its fine.

Worth seeing the belltower covenant out just for the 100 chunks.
sometimes you invade and you get the chunk immediately as someone else just killed him instead lol.
