Final Trailer for The Amazing Spider-man 2

I see no scenes showing Peter Parker losing his powers due to emotions so this film already one step above Spider-Man 2 already

The first one was one of the worst movies I've ever seen. I walked out of the theater.

Me too. When did you leave? As soon as I saw worker guy asking other worker guy if he still had some cranes he could use I could sense something enormously stupid was about to happen and bailed.

Like dis?

Damn. Not so much the tweaked lighting, but the composition of the explosion is changed, Spidey's pose, and how he's holding the thing, plus a shit ton of colour correction.

I wonder how many revisions it had to go through. HOW MANY RENDERING HOURS was put into this.

I'm in video editing and motion graphics myself, and we get clients ALL THE TIME asking to make one tweak. "Oh, can we have this in 10 minutes?"

"Um, no. It takes like an hour to render, then another 15-30 for file conversions."

And I wonder, if Sony was patient, then we never would have had those complaints about poor effects so long ago. As someone who feels VFX team's pain, I'd never want to show a "pre-pre-final" of anything....

I like how the movie only now mentions that Harry and Peter had some kind of backstory despite it never being hinted before in the previous movie. Shows how much thought they're putting into it and how they're rushing these villains out.

Say what you want about Spider-Man 3 but Harry finally turning into a villain was one of the better parts of it after having already spent two movies with him.
.

Well in the first movie we found out that Peter's parents were very important to Oscorp. Peter and Harry knowing each other isn't out of the question. Kids go where ever their parents go. Peter not seeing Harry since his parents died isn't out of the question. Especially since it's looking like Oscorp is responsible for Peter's parents dying.

It looks saturated and colorful, which I guess evokes a more comic-booky feel. I don't know, outside of CGI, I just love that damn costume. That's the costume we should have got in 2002. No silver/gold eyes, no weird modern webbing, just the Spidey costume verbatim. Now all it needs is armpit webbing.

Everything Spidey looks cool.

Everything Peter Parker looks meh.

The voice is one thing, but modeling Electro after Jamie Foxx was a pretty bad idea. lol

I want this so much. I love the webbing.

I don't like the armpit webbing. Without it Spidey looks very sleek and flexible.

If you get the right actor and put him in a suit similar to the Falcon in Cap 2 I don't think people would be that put off.

Yeah, I also think Superior had a great way to handle him, allowing the gravity manipulation to give him facsimile super-strength and such so that he'd be a valid opponent.

The wings in the trailer kinda look like they might go in that sort of direction, in ASM 3.

As someone who previously did not think they were showing way too much

Goddamn this was the straw that broke the camel's back. I loved it, but they're giving it all away!

Still will be there on release day. I fucking love me some Spider-Man.

edit: Plus I went back and watched Raimi's Spider-Man 1 because it's on Netflix now and it is not like.... good... anymore. I don't know what happened but time was not kind to that movie. I hope my memories of Spider-Man 2 aren't equally as mismatched.

What's the villain count right now? This movie seems like a reverse Avengers.

So far three, but Rhino is only on screen for four minutes, and I don't think Green Goblin will be in it for very long at the end, I feel like it'll be mostly Electro

Osborne looks like a complete douche and sounds like he's being smoking since he was 4

Tobey always looked too old to play Parker to me. And I now Parker was supposed to be a nerd and what not, but Tobey perpetually looked like he was about to cry.

Rewatching Raimi's first movie, I don't know how in the hell they expected us to believe he was in high school.

Tobey had cheesy jokes as Spidey?!

No, really. I don't remember any Spidey jokes in the Raimi movies outside of his dig at Macho Man

I count four in the first movie - Wrestling scene, witty quips with MJ, squaring off against Goblin at the Bugle and squaring off against Goblin in the burning building. There weren't a lot but I think they were pretty well timed.

The second movie didn't have many but I expected that since it showed a critical point in his character arc. Third movie was full of them obviously but they were really overplayed there.

Conversely there was only really one moment in TASM which I remember had any memorable cheesy comedy, which was the small knives scene. But I'm going to be honest - I prefer Maguire's wit over Garfield's. This may be because of my endless hours playing the Spider-Man games where he lent his voice and completely nailed it in acting like Spider-Man, but Maguire's deadpan snark is just too funny to me. While I think Garfield is allowed a lot more moments I think he overplays them quite a deal to the point where it feels less clever and more like a self aware call for attention. It doesn't feel very subtle.

Tobey was actually funnier in the tie-in movie games.

Yeah, what's up with that? lol

I'm hoping this movie is good beyond the action. It seems they've nailed everything that isn't the story or character development, but won't actually know that until the movie comes out.

Spider-Man 2 has yet to be topped, I'm hoping this will.

Name some. Seriously. I remember him spraying Jameson in the face with webbing claiming "Me and mom have to talk kid". Outside of that, I remember none, especially not in the burning building! I honestly remember Goblin being funnier/zanier than him in SM1. The excuse you gave for SM2 doesn't really hold water either.

Actually I can't remember any that stand out. Maybe it was just the way he delivered his lines with the mask on rather than actual jokes. I just found Garfield a little off in comparison to Tobey when he is in the suit.

That's a pretty lame retort if you're not going to elaborate on why. Spider-Man 2 didn't need witty quips to be a good Spider-Man movie, that has more to do with your expectations.

Either way I already listed scenes that had some kind of cheesy Spider-Man quip in the first movie, minor or otherwise. Cheesy lines like "You're the one who's out Gobby, out of your mind" were pretty lame in a rather funny way to me. And of course Goblin is zanier than Spider-Man. Goblin is insane. Spidey isn't. Though really, all of that might just be rose tinted glasses on my part.

Argggh I hate the interpretation of the Raimi movies that allows the cheese because it's "so bad it's good". It's just bad! You had the two biggest Spidey things of my childhood, the videogame from Neversoft and the 90's TV series, both of which were genuinely funny. Not cheesy funny, actual ha-ha funny.

I don't know, generally I consider his humor/quipping the defining character trait of Spider-Man. Without it, he's just a dork in a bright red and blue suit.

And I find TASM to be neither of these. It's just overplayed and in your face in a way that's neither clever or particularly endearing.

Sorry, but I do think we're going to have to agree to disagree. I appreciate both types of humor if they're pulled off well enough and I never found the recent Spidey movies able to pull it off in a good way yet.

Hopefully this isn't a borefest like the first film.

142 minutes Jesus Christ. It's gonna be. Unless they hopefully pad this with like 80% action because the characters in the first film were garbage

I was looking forward to this until I saw the runtime.

Spider-Man 1 and 2 remain some of the funniest in this genre imo. Mostly because of Jameson but also Spider-Man has his moments

Feels like you guys want him to be a wisecrack machine, that's cool I guess. But that alone doesn't make the film lmao

Edit: what about that clip of Spider-man saving the plutonium was 'ha ha funny' exactly?
