Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

So after putting on the Targray armor, I realized that I could use my giant whale-sized ass as a weapon, but it's pretty op and would probably ruin the Dark Souls experience. That armor reinforces his ass to +10 and probably adds poison damage.

In other news, I finally killed
Hollow King Vendrick
, and now I just have the
Ancient Dragon
left before moving on to NG+. Or maybe, if I'm feeling really crazy, I'll empty the game of it's enemies and NPCs and literally be the only living thing in the game. Is there anything that always respawns?

Yep, and the overall place looks great. Specially the entrance. It's one of the first places in the game I've stopped to admire
I really like the aesthetic to Heide's Tower. Huntsman's Copse has some nice views too.

Trying to sunbro and get some sunlight medals....but my summoners keep dying. Sad day.

EDIT: As I write that I get summoned by a guy who proceeds to walk directly into the flame at the start of
Iron Keep
.

Siiiiiigh.

What's the reward for ranking up my Sunbro level? Is it just miracles and the warm fuzzy feeling from helping others.

I have a couple questions:

I have downed 7 bosses:
Last Giant
Pursuer
Dragonrider
Old Dragonslayer
4-Armed Pirate (forget name)
Triplets (forget name)
Lost SInner

I've also fought
Belfry Gargoyles
, got it down to below half health but it cost a ton of my healing stones and holy shit that fight makes Gargoyles and Four Kings seem like they were for babies.

Basically, my questions are:

1) How far am I?
2) Have I missed a blacksmith? I only have the one in Majula.

I ask 2 because I took the first 5 bosses down easily but since then things seem wayyyy more difficult. I feel like I need to upgrade my damage output.

Also, it's crazy how often this game puts you in situations where you're forced to fight many against one. For example, I just tried to
open the door past the petrified girl
, and there's a bunch of enemies in a tight space that poison you. Ouch! And poison is brutal!

Not really looking for tips on that last part, just commenting on how hard it's been.

Fucking dickhead summons me with a white phantom and they proceed to spam spells on me.

The fuck you doing on the bridge m8. Go back to killing bosses.

I hope my console is an undead... cause i just spilled half a bottle of coke over my PS3 T.T, i hate myself...

Best course of action guys???

If the coke got on the lens, you're probably screwed.

If not, put your PS3 in rice to soak up the liquid.

How does the Drangleic Sword compare to other greatswords? It's the first one I've used, and it's been pretty great so far. It was the key to taking down the (boss)
Rotten
when other weapons didn't seem to work.

I'm at SL 115 or so and at the third Old One, so probably around half way through the game, and it's the sword I keep coming back to. It has good scaling with strength and dex and consistently outdamages my other options. Plus, I love the move set. That stabbing motion rocks. I just wish I had more Twinkling Titanite with which to upgrade it.

Good luck on
Ancient Dragon
, I've spent the past three days trying to kill it, to very little success.

P.S. Have five souls
of giants
in your inventory would have made the fight with
Vendrick
much easier, unfortunately the last
giant soul
is The goddamn
ancient dragon

By the way, how did you get Targay's set? I put on that blue sentinel ring and for hours I've never got summoned once.

can i just skip him? i don't really feeling like banging my head pointlessly.
Sure, I completely missed him the first time actually. If you want to deal with him later I
used Firestorm and just cheesed it. They're weak to fire and so it decimates both the little ones and the big one.

4's doable, and I avoided fighting
the Ancient Dragon because similar to Priscilla I felt like I'd just be an asshole fighting him when he's just chilling at his sky castle and even helping me out. I suppose similar could be said about Vendrick, but at that point for him it's a mercy kill.

Oh man! Someone invaded me for the first time ever and I kicked his ass! He had some giant Scythe. I hid in a little room in Hunstman's Copse and he ran in, I circled him and backstabbed with my mace. I friggin booked it from there cuz i was real scared, ran all the way back to the room with the bonfire, and hid in wait to get another couple of hits in. He ran into the room, I ran out and hid around the corner and then smashed him to death when he came back out.

Felt so good...

Do you get anything other than immense satisfaction when you kill an invader?

Holy fuck mimics are terrible. What in the fuck is with their hit boxes? How am I grabbed by the mouth of one when I am directly behind it? Spotty fucking thing.

I've become hopelessly stuck. I've used up all my Human Effigy's in the L
ost
B
astille
, just before the 3 R
uin
S
entinals
.

Since I can't become human I can't win this fight : (

Put your soul sign down, help someone fight the area boss. 50/50 you'll become human again.

I'm a complete tank, and I fast roll. All of my armor stats are over 1000. My Gyrm armor set is almost all +10. I'm wearing the
2nd dragon ring
,
Royal Soldier's Ring
, and I keep my equip weight under 70%. No bosses can 1-hit kill me.

And I rock a Black Knight Ultra Greatsword & a Gyrm greatshield.

They definitely did not nerf tanks if you know how to build right.
Good to know .Thanks for that!
I'm currently doing a no-sheild dex playthrough...

It is much harder so far :(

Me too, about 28 hours in and only at the iron keep still. It's harder at first while you get used to it, then once you get used to it, it's easier/less frustrating than using a shield since you don't have to worry about stagger mechanics, then you reach a boss that can kill you with one mistake and it seems impossible, then you summon and beat the boss easily even though it slightly feels like cheating.

At least that's how my playthrough has gone so far. It really trains you up to be kick ass at pvp.
Only way to fly baby! I'm no speed runner but losing the shield has been a great and liberating exercise....made me way better at the game. I have been perusing Pursuer boss fights (winning fight at 14:10) and I am still the only channel I have found that seems to have solo'd him with out a shield or ballistas, including ENB. I haven't checked the speed runner channels yet though :p.

Just souls I think...if you win a red stone fight do you get humanity back I wonder?? Prolly not.

Feed it Sunny D

I honestly don't know what the say to this, was the power on did it get inside the system's vents?

Is that a thing? Sweet, thanks.

I've helped people beat these bosses a bunch of times and yet whenever I call people in to fight them they tend to die instantly : (

Just go to Huntsman's Copse or heides tower depending on how much you have already done and come back later.

Is the strategy guide worth it for a newcomer to the series? I plan on picking up the PC version and I am debating on picking up the guide.

Don't pick up the guide. It ruins the experience. The best way to play a Souls game is to go in blind. If you ever find yourself stuck you can always ask the OT.

Does being human help in some way? I did it undead.

I think you get two thousand souls, right?

But can you really put a price on that feeling you get when you kill one? Priceless.

God I feel so stupid. Just figured out through reddit, that the game felt much more difficult than DkS to me because I joined the covenant of champions at the beginning without really realising that the covenant basically turned the game into NG+...

Just abandoned the covenant and the game is still 'souls-games' typically challenging, just a lot less frustrating, thank god for the Internet

Question about the Second Dragon Ring...where does it come from? I was under the impression that it came from
Tark's quest line, but after talking to him and killing his fuck buddy, he didn't give the ring to me. Just a branch. Was it because I didn't summon him for the fight or am I missing something else?

Just took down two more bosses:

The Old Dragonslayer and Flexile Sentry. When I entered dat fog at Blue Cathedral and see the familiar golden helm coming right at me I was like FFFFUUUU I'm so dead, but he was actually pretty easy w/o his counterpart.
Kind of disappointing.

Flexile Sentry
was super easy with lightning spear, this shit is OP. I hope there are other fun miracles to use down the road.

You need to
kill a specific boss
to get the ring. Specifically,
Duke's Dear Freja
.

Ugh tell me about it. Was summoning people for 4 fucking hours today for help with Lost Sinner. During that time I helped at least 5 others kill him. I can do the damage I just need someone to understand the concept that they should tank when I'm doing 3-4 times their dps.

I'm at an impasse. I didn't want to have to do this, but I think I'm legitimately stuck.

The last thing I did was kill Freya and Vangarl. I've done The Rotten, The Last Sinner, Rat Authority, Faux Quelaag; all of them cats. The 'alas, nothing happened' formation has appeared underneath the drooling stone dragon, but I have no idea how to interact with it meaningfully, just as I have no idea how to interact with that tree eliciting the same prompt in FotLG.

Rather than just outright tell me what to do, is it possible that you could give me a very light hint, i.e. which area I should be in. That would be gravy, Gaf.

Cheers.

Looks like the way of blue and wearing the ring will be a thing for any new characters of mine. Getting invaded by invincible twinks is now a thing.

I swear I have the worst luck with summoners. Got summone at
Skeleton Lords[
by a guy who went after the
bonewheel spawning lord first
and got himself wrecked.

As I typed this up, though I got summoned by the same guy and while he did the same stupid strategy I was able to distract the enemies enough to pull off a victory. That's what being a sunbro is all about I guess.
