This cave full of spiders and webs is everything I fear in video games.

Ha, when I got to the
Humanoid Spiders and the boss.

Iron keep, farming the Alonne Knights question:

I seem to have killed them all, in the area
before Smelter Demon,
and so far no
blacksteel katana
. There are still I few Alonne Captains I can farm, but do they have a chance of dropping
the katana as well?
Will there be more knights after
smelter demon
or have I missed my chance?

:(

Now that I finished the game, maybe you guys can clear up a few various things that confused me or I've just been curious about:

The sidequest with giant memories. What would it get me at the end? Can I get to the memories of the giant beside the Soldiers Rest (or Retreat, can't remember) bonfire? The one in the area with all the turtles. It just tells me 'a giant rests in peace'.

Any use for this petrified something I started with?

In Cardinal Tower, where the five ballistas were, along with a few soldiers... there was a door there that opened from the other side. How do I get around there?

The knights you find just sitting in Lost Bastille and Forest of Fallen Giants, any reason not to attack those guys?

Any NPCs with good stuff that I should kill? The Ancient Dragon that gave me Ashen Mist, will he fight me? I've also heard people talk about fighting Vendrick, worth attempting?

wait to you get to the boss, i think you'll love it.....

I did. It was horrible. Since I never wanted to traverse the area again I let myself get summoned a few times to try and get a feel for the boss and then used an effigy to summon my own help. None of this helped
and I quickly got laser beamed to death.
So now I have to do it again. Hooorraaay.

I have a question about something I heard (very late game).
Is it true if you equip all the dragon rings that you can talk to ancient dragon again
?
i need a hand with
Vendrick
.

I'm not enjoying the 1-hit kills and occasional HOMING horizontal attacks :/
How many giant souls do you have? There are 5 and each one lowers his hp by a factor of 2. If you fight him before getting any he has 32x health! If you get all of them he's pretty easy, just stay behind him. A couple of them aren't obvious how to find though
.

Anybody else feel like this game was made from end to start. It like the last half is real great souls trademark design while start is weak ass design.

So, I got a little bow-happy in No Man's Wharf and killed the NPC
Gavlan through a window. Am I screwed? I need my poison arrows.
.

The great scythe got nerfed so hard in this game. It makes me sad.

Great Scythe was one of my favorite weapons of Dark Souls. I used that for most of the game, when I got it. It was so good. But I guess it makes sense, it was really powerful. I've found some other cool weapons. There's also the Bone Scythe, although it's weaker and doesn't scale as well as the Great Scythe from DkS.

Agreed. The game really grew on me after passing the first few bosses and things started to come together. Works better for me since I can blaze through the start now.

Use Rusted Coins and wear the Merchant Hood. Those two things up your drop chance to get items. Their's other Alonne Knights in another part of the game later on too.

Was playing around with Sorceries in NG+ last night, managed to hit over 4000 with Soul Geyser on a Black Phantom in Harvest Valley. (INSANE)

Using the spell in PvP, it seems a little too overpowered in my opinion. First I distract my opponent with Soul Vortex, then I fire Soul Geyser straight through that. They never see it coming and it always a one shot kill. Certainly useful when trying to rank up in the Brotherhood of Blood!

I also found a pretty interesting sword which allows you to cast sorceries with the R2/RT attack, pretty awesome. It's called the Blue Flame.

hey quick question as i'm thinking about getting the PC version at some point so long as it's not a shit-show like the last game

i didn't enjoy the multiplayer in dark souls 1 at all and the changes they've made to the invasion mechanic sound annoying as all hell. how did that part turn out?

on one character, I saw pate in earthern, and he gave me nothing.

on the next character, I saw pate in earthern, and he gave me his armor.

there were no story differences in my encounters with him up to this point.

what causes this?

I think you ned to summon him for the last giant and he needs to survive. Atleast I did on one of my characters and he got it while my first character didnt summon and didnt get anything.

Welp, I just got my shit rammed down my throat by
navlaan
.

1 hit ko with about 2100 hp and that isn't even NG+ :|

Gonna to go to bed and attempt to get my shit stain in the morning when I aint tired.

Man that first half of Iron Keep is really a great place to farm souls by co-oping. Got like 200k souls before I even attempted to do that 1st boss in my own world.

But man, that last boss of Iron Keep is rather annoying, mainly due to
the small location with lava everywhere. I literally stepped into that first pool of lava when I went into co-op. Died several times due to stuff like that fir first 7 matches. :lol I eventually did beat it in co-op and immediatly beat it in my game after that one too.
Thank god for co-op. Really came in handy in seeing what the boss might be like.

Also is it true about those rather large souls (like the one you get for above)
that to hold on to them for that one boss near the end that will get weaker if you have them on you?

Still, what were they thinking? Takes a second to tap through. No reason she couldn't have had one or two lines the majority of the time.

Demon's had the same issue, but at least the dialogue was more interesting:

Touch the Demon inside me...

No other uses for the boss souls than unique weapons? So if I don't want any of the weapons I could get, I can just use them for souls?

I was so pissed Felkin the Outcast wasn't selling a Staff I could use by the time I finally found him that I killed him. Never killed a friendly NPC in all my hours of this series before. Any negative effects coming my way?

Need some experienced Sorcerer tips as this is my first. I kinda don't see the value in wearing robes, even as a sorcerer. The movement restrictions aren't as bad as before, and light armor seems much more useful. I also think I should raise STR a bit to upgrade a useful shield. Am I completely wrong and bringing in my melee bias against a caster and shouldn't be equipping him this way?

The more I play, the more I fall in love with this world. I was unsure for hours where it ranks, but I think I'm ready to commit to my DS2 waifu.

So, just my general thoughts on the game right now. I haven't beaten the game yet, so take that into consideration. Also, spoilering everything just cuz.

I'm trying not to be too hard on Dark Souls 2, but it's hard for me to not personally have certain lofty expectations considering Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are two of my favorite games of the last decade. The game still has the feel of a Souls game, but at the same time it kind of doesn't. The weight of movement and attacking feels off to me, like my character feels like he's floaty when he moves but then his attacks feel slow and unresponsive.

The bosses thus far have been total letdowns for me as well. None of them feel especially challenging (thus far), the music for the bosses isn't that great, and there just seems to be a lack of inspiration behind them. I dunno, a room full of Wheel Skeletons shouldn't count as a boss to me, even if Wheel Skeletons are nightmare fuel for me.

I kind of hope the rumors that Miyazaki is making a PS4 Demon's Souls 2 are true, because to me it really feels like his influence is gone here and I'd like it back in the Souls games.

I'm being harder on the game than I know I should, I'm still having fun with it and I don't regret my purchase what so ever. But it does feel like a step backwards from Dark Souls to me.

Beat the cunt. Respecced from my sorc to a brutish motherfucker with a greatshield and good armour and dude couldn't 1hk me anymore
