Just lost 47k souls due to a mimic I turned off the game for the day. Just so much bs.
Dark Souls gonna teach you to look before you stick your hand in the box.
Seriously though, give every single chest a smack before you open it.

Did the mimic kill you twice? How'd you lose your souls? Can't you go collect them back?Just lost 47k souls due to a mimic I turned off the game for the day. Just so much bs.

The one in Iron Keepgives you mad fire resistance when you walk into the water. Lasts for about a minute. It's how you snag all the neat treasure in the flaming areas.
I usually do that but I hit one in NMW and it broke in 1 hit....???

Maybe enemies hit it a couple of times before you. They generally seem to survive three hits.

I was like "shit a monster on a chair" and attacked him 3 times, lol. yeah, that was stupid.Lol why did you do this.
I see, thanks. In the Shady Wood, you can find an NPC who will absolve you of your sins.
Mimics have key holes. Regular chests do not.

Yeah, only base damageBASE damage. Your overall damage might go up if you've got a dex weapon with B scaling and a lot of faith or int to go with the magic.... right?
Why else infuse?

i have to make my way through a pretty shitty area to get to a merchant who left an earlier level after I talked to him. Gonna be annoying.I think a good chunk of my frustration of the game is due to the fact that all i want is a katana but i took some wonky path through the game and am only now making it to the keep.
Its up to the player if he/she wants to explore more of the area between those points. It is the exact same situation in Dark Souls 1 as well. In Dark Souls 1, you can simply ignore a lot of exploring and just go from bonfire to bonfire. The only difference between Dark Souls 1 and 2 in this regards is that in DS2 you simply dont have to run manually between these points/bonfires once you have found them, and it saves a lot of time. The only difference is that you're at bigger chance of dying in Dark Souls 1 because you have to manually run between the bonfires to begin with, but you can do that in Dark Souls 2 as well if you want![]()
I upgraded my ultra greatsword a bit, I think to plus 4 or so. Wish I had done it for the bastard sword. I gotta track down some titanite.
Fair enough. Personally, i love to explore regardless though. That is a huge part of the Souls games for me, so being able to warp faster in the game is just a positive thing for me. I would explore every area regardless, but now i have to do much less unnecessary running to get where i want to goYes, you just explained why it is worse off as a design choice for the game. Most people will pick the easiest and fastest way if provided. Sometimes you have to force them to do something to get them to enjoy it or for it to provide the proper impact. The warp in DS1 for instance had a sense of worth and scale to it since you lived though the game without it for so long. You knew the value since you lived without it.
Don't want this to come off as me being down on the game, I am loving the fuck out of it. Just the world and areas sufferer compared to DS1 because of this.
I got summoned plenty of times yesterday myself. Not sure what everyone is bitching about.Summoning is completely broken after the patch. Thanks FROM. This game is now dead to me until they fix it.
Whaaaaat. One of my favourite areas. I spent hours there, trying to find everything. So many secrets. It's amazingly designed.Lost Bastille is amazingly boooooring. Zzzz Zzzz
Pfft, casul. A bow makes this place trivial. IIt's nightmare even with bow. Worst location ever.
Same. The torch makes all the difference there. It's definitely kinda frustrating to get through, but I still kinda liked it. I thought the area was beautiful. The only annoying thing (minus needing a bow to kill those caster enemies) is what you have to constantly watch where you walk to make sure you don't walk off the edge. I never fell off, but that's because I was really careful about looking where I was walking.
Hahahaha yuuuup.lol, oh the amount of times I thought to myself "Oh, this must be DSII's Blighttown" only to move on to a worse area later. No-Man's Wharf? Oh, it's Blighttown. Harvest Valley? No, this must be Blighttown. The Gutter? Now this is definitely Blighttown. Black Gulch? Fuck!
Not necessarily. Sometimes they use the terrain to run off and heal. If it's a duel, that's a shitty thing to do.Nah, just a death sentence.
I don't believe summoned red signs can use estus. Can they?If anyone is actually complaining about healing during pvp now that phantoms can use estus as well I'd be very confused.
Yes, you can. IMO it sucks. Sure, both can heal, but it makes for boring fights. If there was a limit to, say, 2-3 estus max, then it'd be fine.Pretty sure you can't heal in the brotherhood of blood covenant when you duel there
The other day I was fighting in theIsn't it even more so the fault of the player that lets them? I mean Estus is pretty slow.
Invasions != duelsThat's how every invasion in DS1 has ever gone for me.![]()
Or you don't pick the master key on your first playthrough....Or you ran from Firelink to the back entrance of Blighttown in a matter of minutes?
The bastard sword isn't worth it. It is the lowest of the normal greatswords and it's move set isn't that great. Get something like the claymore if you want to upgrade it as it has the great R2 one handed thrust. It's followup isn't as good as the Drangleic Sword's, but it is still better then the bastard sword, and easily upgradable.
Edit: shit double post, meant to edit this into the last one, sorry.

What's the best great sword or ultra great sword in your opinion? I haven't really tried them but have the STR.
I think there's some validity in that, but I think the bigger issue is the areas themselves feeling small, quick, and disconnected. Having warp from the beginning is a net positive to me, though I do recognize the negative effects.Yes, you just explained why it is worse off as a design choice for the game. Since I'm enjoying coop so much, I'm thinking of taking away most of my 40 DEX and putting it in tanky stats like vigor, endurance (for blocking) and vitality (for big ass shields). Then, putting on that aggro ring the cat sells. Basically, draw attention from NPCs and keep them busy while my host shells them with magic/arrows and/or backstabs them. Does this sound like a good idea?
So here's my question: My planned build will have me at 40 for both Dex and Int and right now I'm running with a Falchion +10 and casting Magic Weapon on it. Is it better for me to infuse it with Magic and free up the spell slot? Or do I get a better bonus via straight Dex + the spell? Also if I infuse it with Fire or something instead, will Magic Weapon stack on top of that?
I have character ADD. Get 10 hours in, reroll new class. Get another 10 hours in, reroll.

i like nonlinear progression, but MAN doingas bosses 3 and 4 was some tricky stuff. made every boss i "backtracked" to do afterwards feel like i could do them with my eyes closed.ruin sentinels and gargoyles
You've gotta be kidding me with this bonfire location in...Aldia's Keep

I had that issue too. You're actuallyWell, I just made it to the DAragon. Is this the end of the game? because I don't want it to be the end of the game! There seems like there is so much stuff I haven't done but I guess that's what I get for doing a blind playthrough my first time through.erie
I skippedfor a long time on accident, as a result it was easytown, USA.harvest valley
You mean the one that's a million miles from? I died to it last night cause of a dumb mistake and once I respawned I saw how far I had to walk and just went to bed instead.the pig that bursts through the wall in the cage room
Ohhhh so that's what happens.Friendly torch dude is kinda like an ambulatory Mimic that way. You go in and are all like "Oh boy, someone to light my way!" and you're all cheery and let him follow you and then you meet Agdayne who goes all "NURFLE RAWR KILL FIRE!" and suddenly you realize you must've forgotten what game you were playing.
I let the dude follow me and not only did I get killed, I also had to fork over 100,000-odd souls to the pardoner to get Agdayne to talk to me again.
God I hate that torch-bearer.

Here, let me teach you how to spoiler tag properly. Show some respect to those who aren't that far into the game, geez.[very late game spoilers]dead. Not so badVendrick. Just cleaning up now. Man the things you have to do to get all the trophies in this game.with giant souls
I actually went intothe first time around with only two great souls.Drangleic Castle

I did the same with. Though I wouldn't really call it an "accident," since there's no real set path through the game. There's an optimal way as far as general difficulty, but you're generally free to tackle things in whichever order.Sinner's Rise
