What will Nintendo do at E3 2014?

I honestly don't expect much. And I feel bad for anyone expecting a blowout of awesomeness. Many of us have been around for too many E3s and too much Nintendo to know that they'll come swinging. I think what we can expect, as far as big titles, will be Zelda. Unfortunately I just don't see them putting a lot of resources into the Wii U at this point.

I would assume they will focus heavily on NFC for the gamepad. Announce something we haven't heard of but expect. Finish with a surprise release for fall 2014.

I know people love their E3 gifs, but why does anyone want a stage show from anyone anymore? Just the thought of the awkward time wasted while someone goes through their bullshit speech is tiring already. At least with a direct, it was just trailers and I was done.

I think they "break the glass in case of emergency" and announce a 2D Super Metroid SNES sequel for Wii U.

Company saved.

As long as Majora's Mask 3D is shown and given a 2014 release date, they could send their executives out in clown suits and play a laggy game of Wii Sports Club Tennis for several awkward minutes, for all I care.

But they'll probably have an E3 Direct featuring Smash Bros, Zelda U, Bayonetta 2, X, Hyrule Warriors, and some unannounced titles, followed by hands-on demos surrounded by elaborate theme park-style setpieces. It won't be enough to satisfy the wider industry, but I'll be set.

Surprise Mario Strikers announcement.
That's all I want. Guessing what Nintendo is going to do next is like playing the lottery and having your eyes on the jackpot.

On stage presentation.

Zelda U
Smash 4 newcomers (including Pac-Man)
X full reveal, story trailer, title etc
NFC stuff
Animal Crossing U
Majora's Mask 3D
Metroid 3DS sidescroller

Add a bunch of Dragon Quest localisations and they'd have a real winner.

I am hoping to hear more about how they are changing their business model but are they even going to have a conf this year?

It's really bad not to take opportunity to have a conference.

They will probably lay low again. People know that Smash and Kart are coming out this year. They might do a pre-recorded 3DS video, or just a small 3DS conference.

This is the first E3 where I have no expectations for Nintendo. If they decided not to go, it wouldn't even faze me.

You joke, but that would get me to buy a Wii U.

Zelda WiiU
X, Smash Bros, Hyrule Warroirs, Bayo 2 release date
Yarn Yoshi shown dated, SMTxFE shown dated
NFC Game Holiday 2014
Metroid in some capacity

For what it's worth, they have an extra booth/meeting room this year: 4822, OFMR 5244 and OFMR 5644.The floor plans haven't been made available yet, so I can't check where 5644 is. But that's at least something (maybe they'll use it to show QOL to key attendees/partners). Their presence at E3 is somewhat bigger than last year.

You see now, this is the interesting stuff. Logically, the more space you have the more content you have to display. I don't think we should jump to any conclusions of QOL products being announced/demoed but the fact that they have more of the floor is very interesting.

No Quality of Life stuff? They gotta fit it in somewhere. Probably drop metroid for it. That infuriates me to a degree, but if anything would have to be dropped, it would probably be it :^(

QoL is not gaming and it will not be at E3 they should it will have its own Press Conf when info is going to come out about it

I don't get it. Why does Nintendo need to do a stage event? There is really no difference between a direct and a pre-show, unless you're in the press and need that ego stroke by getting an invite.

This
But yet I see a bunch of people claiming Nintendo didnt go to E3 last year and wont go again this year, even tho they had the biggest show floor, and game play demo of Smash Bros for the press, and hands on show floor demos of many games.

I would love for them to have a stage show too, but to act like they wont show up or didnt show up last year shows that your clueless

I'm hoping they got their ass kicked hard enough last year to realize that they need to fucking try outside of their own bubble. I enjoy Nintendo Directs but trying to ignore the mainstream media channels that come to E3 was a bad idea.

As for E3 itself, they need to do more. If all they have to show for the Wii U are games we already know about again, we've got a problem. The 3DS always has new interesting stuf but the Wii U keeps getting the same content tossed around over and over. Even if it means they just announce new IP's, it'd be better than recycling the same set of games (X, Smash, Bayo 2, Yarn Yoshi). At least MK8 will be out by then.

I'm expecting nothing interesting on the third party side, save for the 3DS. I'd love for Nintendo to prove me wrong though.

a new IP would be better than being shackled to a old and beaten-up IP that doesn't sell.

Metroid online fps with vehicles sounds awful and would probably destroy the franchise for me. Metroid was NEVER an FPS in the vein of stuff like COD and Battlefield. It was always way more about exploration and atmosphere than shooting shit

No, don't ruin Metroid this way. Make a new IP that does this if you have to, but dont taint Metroid

Yeah I must admit I agree with this as well. I only bring up Metroid as an example, as there is hoping Nintendo will make a leap, and then there is hoping Nintendo will fly. I think, with some creativity, a multiplayer online game could work within the Metroid universe without killing the nature of it but if Nintendo could make a new IP I would love to see it.

You realize there was a not-broadcast press event that said mainstream media was invited to, yes? Where there were live Smash Bros. demos that never went to the show floor and Wii Fit Trainer was announced along with everything we got in the Nintendo Direct?

I expect little, as I've said before.

If John Harker is right, and Nintendo hasn't even booked the Nokia like they did even last year, then they're throttling back even more. Don't expect much.

I was only thinking about the original 150.

Well, that's just silly, isn't it? You not liking any past that doesn't mean that they'll stop existing.

I'm not even sure what to expect, I'm going in with what I consider the very lowest of expectations:

New announcements/proper reveals of:
Zelda U
SMT X FE
Yoshi Yarn
Gamecube or Wii HD remake of some kind.

For 3DS:
Majora's Mask?..
...

I expect we'll hear fairly soon whether or not Nintendo will have a big state presentation this year. I hope they do, I feel it hurt them badly last year not having one, even if it would have been outshone by PS4/Xbox One stuff.

1) Zelda U

2) Bayonetta 2

3) X

4) Yarn Yoshi

5) Maybe other Wii U stuff (Sonic Boom / SMTxFE / Hyrule Warriors)

6) More Smash Bros. characters

7) 3DS Stuff

8) QOL Stuff

It'll be the 10 year anniversary of their E3 04 conference which in my opinion was the turning point of the company. They need to do a conference that builds that kind of momentum. Of course, they can only play what they have in their hand. They obviously need to have the goods.

Zelda U teaser 2015 release, Animal crossing U for holiday 2014, 3DS will get some game

new trailers for X ( story trailer ) Smash ( pac-man & release date shown ), Bayonetta announced for release..same day as Halo 5 or another big 3rd party juggernaut on another platform, That zelda x Dunasty game hyrule warriors given a name and release. Yarn yoshi teased while FE x SMT is forgotten again.

and BOOM Nintendo announces their new device ..the QOL

What they probably need to do is Eliminate and replace a large number of popular, vocal gaming 'journalists' so that whatever they do is accurately reported or even reported on at all. What they will do is likely repeat what they did last year; consumer focused Nintendo Direct and separate conferences for press and business that will disappoint the gaming press because they won't feature a large expensive mastubatory cirque du solei performance and a bribe of a year of Live Gold or PSN+. Show floor will be a grip of games you would freak out at getting to play but you can't so instead you'll settle for watching people whose trip to the show was sponsored by Machinima do that on YouTube .

I firmly believe a QOL reveal will be the "surprise at the end of the conference." Will it be as disappointing as E3 2012's Nintendo Land "just one more thing" surprise reveal? Who knows...

Surprise Mario Strikers announcement.
That's all I want. Guessing what Nintendo is going to do next is like playing the lottery and having your eyes on the jackpot.

I would fly to wherever to high five whoever would make that decision.

Unshackle your imagination for the limitation of a portable like the 3DS. I know it's wishful thinking, Nintendo probably doesn't have the resources nor the guts to do something so ambitious.

They aren't raking in money by the quarter but that doesn't mean their bank account isn't stuffed from the Wii era still. They could easily fund a full fledged pokemon RPG if they wanted too. They simply lack the initiative and would instead focus on fitness bands?

I wouldn't mind another Mario title for the 3DS. Wii U probably has another year or so until it gets one but Mario 3D Land and NSMB2 kinda shot their load one right after the other and since then it's been kinda quiet on the Mario 3DS front.

I'm gonna be honest I REALLY want to play Mario 64 again. So give me a competent 3DS remake or put it on the 3DS/Wii U VC or do an HD port of it, I don't give a shit, I just want to play it again without having to trot out my N64.

I'm guessing this is preference because this is nearly the reverse of order of likelihood.

Keep in mind, each item doesn't have to be a full reveal.

If Zelda U is shown, it could just be a teaser of the name, a 3 second video of an HD Link unsheathing his sword, and a "2015" generic release date.

I just suspect we'll have some kind of mention of those titles.

if it helps, this is last year's floorplan.
