Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Bell Keepers covenant is really starting to piss me off. Been at it for over an hour. Been invaded 9 times, been the invader exactly once. Tried both Sol and Luna, no difference at all.

Add to that it's like 5 minutes of waiting every time.

Uh you have to be outside those zones, anywhere in the world other than those zones otherwise you'll be invaded.

I've been finding the levels themselves to be fairly linear but the actual the choice of which levels to do first and the order in which to kill bosses very non-linear.
So just like Demon's Souls. :)

I love that melee isn't the only option any more
It never was...

Oh my God, I thought it was just my controller. I died a handful of times because I was holding down Circle, but my character was just walking along like he wasn't about to get consumed by flames.
When your stamina fully depletes, you must wait for it to refill completely before you can sprint again. Maybe that was it? In the other games it needed to refill somewhat, so there was a slight delay, but a complete refill wasn't required to be able to sprint again.

I honestly didn't think the A
ncient
D
ragon
was anything compared to some of the NG+ remixes, like fighting
two buffed up Pursuers simultaneously, or a stronger Lost Sinner backed by two Red Phantom pyromancers.

No breathing room with those fights.

So I have more bs too look forward too.

I'm out here outputing 600 points of damage and basic enemies take like 8 hits to kill.

What are some good ng+,weapons ?

Something like that exists? Damn, kinda bs, though little funny. Can the invadee lock on to the invader before they attack. I'll be sure to test each summon from now on. Prob go with sunbros more often. Lol

the summon sign is red so unless your a moron you wont accidentaly summon an invader

Had a fairly productive night I suppose, although not terribly focused on where to go. I managed to beat
Gargoyles, Mytha the Baneful Queen and the Royal Rat Vangaurd (Total bullshit fight btw, From apparently didn't think Bed of Chaos should hold the place as worst boss fight in Souls history)

I know I still have a ways to go, but for only having about 5-7 hours of play time each week, I think I'm making good progress.

Well I'm getting slaughtered by it. I can only survive fire if I have flash sweat active. I can't survive any physical hit. Everyone I summon seems extremely incompetent and dies within a few moves. I'm just at a loss. Once I end up by myself sooner or later his fire will catch me and double hit or he'll hit me with it then land on me before I recover.

You shouldn't summon for that fight since chances are the summons will die and you'll be simply left with a boss who has a much larger health pool.

I don't understand how people have any difficulty with the royal rat vanguard. It's just a bunch of rats and a slightly stronger rat after a minute.

Help please...

I got Richards Rapier down in that pit with all the mushrooms and poison butterflies and shit but there is no way to escape the room that I see... There looks to be a door shape in the wall but I can't seem to activate it.

Edit: Nevermind... This seems to be the first time in any of the Souls games where activating a secret wall was done by pressing X rather than slashing it. Weird.

So... I made it to D
rangleic
C
astle
and beat the D
ragonriders
on my first try! Went to Majula to level up and was ready to warp back, but...
on the list of warpable bonfires there is one that is ????
and I'm scared to click it. :(

Edit-
Just noticed there's even full areas that are ???? after Drangleic Castle with bonfires attached with the same names. What the fuck?

Well, I just beat Dark Souls for the first time today, so officially am moving on to DS2. Pumped to get into it, I've just reached Majula as a warrior. I'm loving the quicker movement so far!
LOL, let me guess Havels for dark souls?
I don't see that at all. I can't think of anything that I would consider the "main path" or intended order of bosses.
The speed run community is already solidifying a fastest/shortest route, you can go different ways, but there will eventually be a shortest path.
Is it possible to do NPC invasions for the Bell Covenent while offline? Saw something posted a while back that may have suggested it, but wasn't sure. I'd like to farm some chunks, but I'm only getting invaded and not doing any myself.
I went offline and what was cool was that I was invaded by an NPC bell keeper instead. I managed to kill him, and then thought for sure I would get my turn at some chunks...no dice. I am loving the chunks while they last now that I finally figured out the "secret." Once the secret is out though will anyone stumble in to these areas unprepared? Also has anyone seen white summons in Luna? I ahve recorded vid proving there was a regular and sunbro sign down inteh area when I was human, but I could not drop my sign at all when I tired to drop in there.

I already had one session where the host must have used chameleon or something because me and the other invader timed out looking for him in Luna....could have been a glitch. Hopefully there will still be some campers like there was in the forest in Dark...I never want the stream of chunks to stop....I literally couldn't get my ring off fast enough when I finally wanted to stop...I already had another invasion qued! LOL.

Do titanite chunks/slabs become more available later in the game? I'm currently at the
Iron Keep
and I still haven't found enough titanite to fully upgrade my mace (Currently +7). I was hoping to upgrade my claymore at some point as well, but chunks/slabs seem hard to come by thus far.
You are actually very close to having chunks rain down on you one every few minutes. Join the
bell ringing team.
So Faith users, what are some good Chimes to go after? I currently only have the original Cleric's Sacred Chime, wondering if there is anything much better to get...

Also, what other spells aside from lightning spear should I go for?
I am not a faith user so I was pissed after my
sentinel
fight when I got a chime for finding secret walls in the boss room. Afterward I looked it up and it actually sounds pretty high level for faith users. search the
sentinel
boss area.

I am not sure its on God tier like spears are sounding, but I want to do emit force again this round....feels like Jedi stuff. There are all kinds of lightning miracles not just spears it seems as well. Try a few out?

BWAHAHAHAH, you will do the face palm as I did when you figure it out...bless the hearts of those that havent figured it out or the stream of chunks may stop flowing soon! I gotta go back in and get more before the fun slows down. I started out being all chivalrous and while doing my commentary let's play vid, I actually just hung out upstairs using the binoculars to scope out the gargoyles and the next bonfire etc. while the other phantom took care of business or the host simply died on mobs...but lately I have been as trollish as the worst....couple poor bastards didn't even see me coming in belfry sol. I suffered without upgrades too long and now it is raining! Talk about pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! The greed has overtaken me!!! Thankfully, a couple hosts have been capable and were good fights and there were a coupe firestorm hosts who got me....too bad they got no chunk for it...at least in the rat covenant the tails go both ways.

I am going to leave my ring on tonight when I go to bed and see how many chunks I can get overnight while I sleep not even being there!!!!!

Is there a point where leveling ADP is useless?

I was wondering what the situation is with ADP and what ADP levels give you what advantages and how the equip burden roll speeds are like.

Also, whats a good dex weapon? I'm switching off between a falchion and heide knight sword. Haven't found anything better.

There was extensive discussion about this late lat night early this am. My opinion is get your agility up to 95-100, but do not neglect VIT and equip burden. Being able to "jump roll" behind enemies and get the backstab is god tier and not sure many are going for it; by wearing really light armour and equipment etc. you extend the length of your rolls. I thought it would be cool to try on the Allone set and it looks cool but the weight just cancels my roll length, back on with the Aurous.I try to keep my burden % under 20 % for boss fights and PVP. I dual wield a falchion and scimitar sometimes and it is quickly becoming my favourite set up...so light. Heide isnt really dex, although lightning weapons seem to pack a punch in this iteration...many enemies are weak to it I think.. The two dex weapons that I have upgraded that get S rating are black steel katana +9 (heavy and slow at low level) and Ricards rapier +9 (lightning fast and light, but durability is crap and doesn't seem to break guard vs . bigger shields despite supposedly having the highest guard break reduction)....I am a little over halfway through the game, level 80, but left a lot of optional bosses on the table so far. 15 STR; 26 dex.

Holy crap what a mouthful...just loving this game right now folks, apologies for the space hog post.....

All the bonfires get listed after your reach the castle, even if you haven't discovered them yet. You can't access them though.

You shouldn't summon for that fight since chances are the summons will die and you'll be simply left with a boss who has a much larger health pool.

I've tried that and when I do I usually get killed really fast because he'll focus in on me to do the AOE fire attack and I'll get double hit from it or it and his foot. I'll try some more though and hope for the best.

Edit: Just tried it twice..both times he instakilled me by doing the AOE fire attack first instead of the horizontal one and then landing on me... Rage increasing.

Where the hell do I go after acquiring the
Ashen Mist Heart
?

And is the
Ancient Dragon
optional or do I eventually fight him?

Those dead trees you've seen in the game.

Also you can go to where you fought the spider... there's something there.

Yes ancient dragon is optional, people just being asses attacking him!

People weren't kidding about Shrine of Amana. The mages aren't a problem with the Rebel Shield but in conjunction with the armies of foes coming out of the woodwork to kill you they can prove to be a problem. Pretty intense. Good to see the game finally bring the pain outside of a boss.

Thanks Ferrio.

Yeah, I'll be leaving the ol' fella alone, he was nothing but a gentleman to me.

Unless he drops something cool...

I'm surprise there isn't a ring that lets you move freely through water like Dark Souls. Shrine Amana and Door of Pharros (ugh Rat King Covenant). would be less of a pain to deal with.

I love how I'm getting invaded left and right by blue spirits(Since NG+, I was bad and murdered all the NPCs... Except Mr. Moonlight unfortunately) and have only seen 2 red spirits the entire game. It's nice to get regular invasions like in Dark Souls 1, but it seems odd that the vast majority of the people doing it are supposedly the good guys.

Hnggg, after a full day of working, I finally get to sit down and play. Time to really head down the well. It's crazy how much I think about this game, ugh.

I'm a STR build and I do much more damage with a +10 fire claymore than a normal +10 claymore. It's really good in PVP.

Matters on the scaling on a +10 claymore and your str/dex. Going to guess you'd get more from an imbue'd fire/lightning version.

30 STR 20 Dex. Claymore is C/C scaling.

It seemed that adding lighting would be beneficial, but wanted to make sure the game wasn't tricking me somehow!

Ok, hold on. I'll edit with my success.

Edit: Why. Why would you tell me to do something like that.

Ya stick the element on there. Unless you got some crazy high str/dex and S scaling I don't think there's a reason to not imbue.

Does anyone have an answer as to who voices Housekeeper Milibet. I am pretty sure I know that voice from somewhere, but cannot place it. Also, I don't want to go digging on Wikis right now, as I have not finished the game.

Unpetrify one of the beastmen in the Shaded Ruins - the one that leads to a larger area.

Actually you don't need to, you can
go up the ramp above the bonfire, then carefully walk along the edge until you're above the protruding bridge, then simply roll off. Unequip armour to lessen the fall damage. Once down there, you can make the jump across to get the BKH.

Another thing to consider is the fact that breaking your damage into part physical and part elemental causes it to pass through two difference damage reductions. So 200 total damage on a normal weapon can be better than 200 total damage on a fire weapon in most cases.

So...I really want to platinum this, and I'm close, but I was just checking on a few of the "Mastery" trophies. You need rank 3 in 2 PVP covenants or be at the end of NG++ to acquire 2-3 spells...at 500 times each covenant. Really?

I'm doing NG+ now and I'll definitely play through NG++ at some point (not right after this run), but fuck that PVP grind.

Sad now...

This. I upgraded a claymore to +10 without imbueing it with electricity, and it did more damage to most enemies as opposed to after when I made it lightning claymore +10. The exception would be enemies who are specifically weak against lightning or whatever element you choose, and PvP, where everyone has much more physical defence than they do elemental defense.

Edit: I should also state that I run a STR/DEX build where my STR and DEX are the same, they were both around 35 when I upgraded it.

I was reading and apparently those spells can be brought in ng+

I'm working on the miracle trophy and they do not phuk around in ng+ :(

If it's NG+, I'm perfectly okay with that, but what I was reading said it was NG++.

I'll get it either way, but I'm not grinding the PVP to get it. It'll just have to be down the road when I come back for NG++. Hell, I still haven't touched more than an hour of Second Son lol...

To add insult to injury Brotherhood of Blood is 'glitched' at the moment and impossible to get to rank 1. So yeah...

I think the only boss I am going to skip is A
ncient Dragon
. Very unfun boss to fight. I am collecting spells for NG+ but I am pissed I missed the boss armor purchases. Walking on the hot rocks in Iron Keep is such a pain. All for one measily spell. Besides that I don't think there is anything else I need to do aside from D
arklurker
.
