PAL Charts - Week 12, 2014

tudlv.png

Again that's fairly hard to conclude anything without numbers.
At least we know it went up 72% last week already, so this week must be around 2.5x the sales from 2 weeks ago.

Expected, but terrible if true. PS4 needs AAA to carry the sales after the launch impulse gets exhausted. Sony needs to launch Uncharted, GT and at least some new IPs. GG's RPG project could be interesting, but I think Santa Monica should do something new as well.

I think that next fall, sales may be easily driven by multiplatform games that will perform better on PS4, plus being the most selling console that may help mindshare, just like previous generation in UK and US COD and other big multiplatform games helped 360.

Obviously games like Uncharted or GT will also boost ps4 performance, as well as Halo will do the same for XBO.
Physical copies. The only exception being bundled download codes.

thanks!
Sony getting the best version of any multi-platforms will help a lot though. Compared to the AAA exclusives Sony had in its first year of the PS3, the fact that we have InFamous already has already made it better. Forgot just how barren it was until I looked it up.

oops, beaten

I didn't actually pay any heed to that, but you're right, that is a huge slant towards current-gen. If consumers are leaving last-gen in the dust and opting for new consoles in droves already then that's a terrific and healthy sign for the market.

We have to keep in mind what we're talking about here: Early adopters for an expensive and short demo of a new Metal Gear Solid game. It doesn't go more Sony-Die-Hard oriented than that, so I really think that Ground Zeroes is a bad indicator for how big the uptake for current gen is. Though, considering the fantastic sales of PS4 and it always being sold out worldwide, it will probably soon reach territory where the hardcore videogame fans are mostly on it and more casual videogame players will buy it too.

Is the ISS bundle sold for a higher price than the base sku in the UK. I heard that you can actually get an X1 and titanfall for cheaper than a ps4 ISS bundle. Just would be interesting because it is always claimed the only reason the Ps4 sells more is that its cheaper.

Sony will have Destiny's marketing, it's basically going to be marketed as a PS4 exclusive in commercials. Same with Watch Dogs. Then they have The Order 1886 which sounds like their big Fall game, having Uncharted there means 2 TPS games in the span of ~2 months which isn't ideal.

But before Destiny and The Order , there is Driveclub.

Purely looking at Amazon, the ISS bundle is £5 cheaper than the Titanfall bundle.

Not in the UK. Or most of EU.

Will have zero impact here.

Hey, this will be the first time I pick up a a baseball game since RBI on the Amiga.

Digitally so it won't count

Double won't count as it will be from the US PSN

this is a shotpguy who also posts here..

So it seems like Titanfall was just a short spike and will not result in a sustainable boost. Not that surprising, I don't think a single game can turn anything around and especially not a MP only one.

Also we don't know if EA is really regretting the deal, it all depends on what kind of payout they got. That the sequel will not be exclusive is pretty much a forgone conclusion at this point though.

The MGS split is pretty crazy.

It's not even being released in the UK. I'm tempted to get the US version from PSN...

You sure about that? The last two The Show titles were at least released digitally in Europe.

Looks like PS4 will return to glory for the foreseeable future.

I'm glad to see Sucker Punch find such success on the PS4.
I can't wait to see the end of the month sales figures of PS4.

With Xbox One likely being between 4-4.3 million, I fully expect PS4 to be well above 7 million WW.

Yes it is. Infamous will look the same next week.

Yup. Will probably hold onto #1 though. Don't think there's a lot of competition until the almighty Dynasty Warriors smashes it off #1 with it's mighty square mashing sword.

I have no idea how Dynasty Warriors does over here, but any release without competition seems to saunter to the top of the charts

As much as I share this fantasy it's probably not going to happen :P

Was always going to happen and as i've said previously MS have to see this as a huge failure (even if it sells in the millions). It seems like they were basically building everything up around titanfall but one game was never going to turn things around.

It's not really a surprise that Infamous: SS and PS4 GZ knocked TF into 3rd place. What would be a surprise is if Infamous AND PS4 GZ's is still ahead next week.

Interesting that the charts have turned back to PS4 dominance again.

As soon as Sony send in PS4 stock it sells out in high numbers and sells out completely. That's why you see these bumps every few weeks.

Yeah, I really don't think there is any problem with PS4's line-up going froward, in terms of the sales momentum it will get from its software. It's actually very strong, with the multiplat titles.

DriveClub will be massive though.

Surprising that no software other than Rivals on PS4 saw a boost. All X1 software also dropping too...

I think with 7 new entries at the top, its not bad at all.

23 (24) PS4 CALL OF DUTY: GHOSTS (ACTIVISION BLIZZARD)
25 (21) PS4 KILLZONE: SHADOW FALL (SONY COMPUTER ENT.)
27 (22) PS4 BATTLEFIELD 4 (ELECTRONIC ARTS)
40 (__) PS4 NEED FOR SPEED: RIVALS (ELECTRONIC ARTS)

Somewhere around 20-30k for the PS3. So <<<10k for the PSV version.
Any idea what Lightning Returns first week sales were?

I'm glad FFX/-2 did well. I was expecting poor sales with infamous and ground zeroes releasing plus it being a HD remaster on PS3 and Vita during a time where PS4 is (figuratively) king.

Interesting so not much difference and hasn't retail had better deals than amazon for the xone in UK. Either way don't think price difference is the only factor in better Ps4 sales.

Sainsburys selling every version of MGS:GZ for £22 helped noticed a few supermarkets kept next gen and current gen versions price similar.

Nice, I'm waiting for the price to hit sub £20 before I get it.

That drop is normal.

The reason to pick up Xbone for the foreseeable future - it looks very ouch to me.

But HD Collection did better first week on X360 in UK.

The 360 market share was (and probably still is) much larger here in the UK.
