If you're having trouble with
Havel, use the classic anti-Havel tactic - roll behind him and backstab. His swings are powerful but extremely slow, so he's highly susceptible to backstabs. The other phantoms in that arena shouldn't be much to worry about.
Yeah usually I find myself in the bottom of a pit after trying to do that ready to throw my controller out of the window. I'm actually doing the Shaded Woods one since I can cheese enemies with a bow here.

Is it possible to get through the cracked wall in
The Lost Bastille
?

In the game, a certain "friendly" NPC tries to invade you several times as a
"Nameless Usurper"
(name of the invader disguised name, not the NPC). Later on, you get an item called Crushed Eye Orb from the Undead Crypt that will radiate and resonant/alert you when you are near that NPC. You can then use it to invade them and kill the NPC and get their stuff. The NPC is
licia
. You need to use this item to invade and kill the NPC in order to get their unique spell which can only be found from them. After that they are dead. Doesn't count as sin either.

Ahh, neat! I did get that message last night actually, but I didn't know what it meant. I always thought the crushed eye orb was something for PvP which I don't care about. I'll have to go back then!

Ah, I see. Maybe more STR for the Sunlight Sword scaling? Try increasing your ADP, I think it'll help with your build. And VIT increases equip weight, so you can wear different armors if you put points into that. VIG is for HP :)

Ah shit. Vig, Vit, get the two mixed up. I guess I could stand for a little more equip weight. What's the highest Int requirement for spells? I can probably get around that with Simpleton's Spice anyway. Hmmm gotta plan out my 150 build.

Shit. These are the things I would never put together by myself. I love Souls games.

I had read that (late game area)
To pray to the altar in Shrine of Amana to restore your humanity, you can't have sin
which is why I tried to absolve in the first place, but I don't think that's the case.
It just doesn't work if you have effigies on you

It should affect invasion frequency because blues can hunt down sinners. But PVP in NG is kind of nonexistent except for the covenant areas :(
Ah ok, i see. Thanks for the info :) I also didnt know that you could restore your humanity at that place.

What I meant was I thought it would take more than a few weeks of disconnecting from invasions to punish people and I am surprised to see that the threshold of punishment is so low. (unless you were disconnecting like crazy).
Oh ok, i understand. I dont know how many times i disconnected to be honest. More than 5 at least, maybe over 10 too. I played it every day for nearly 2 weeks now.

You know this is pretty bad right?

Because doing so you're ruining other people game. Dont want to get invaded? Offline mode.
But then you wont be able to summon or get summoned if you play offline mode :\ But i kinda agree, if one really wants to avoid random PvP, its best to either hide, jump off a cliff in the game or play offline. Getting invaded is afterall a part of the game indeed, even if one like it or not.

Thanks for all the load screens :(
I dont think i caused that many of them for you, but sorry about that just in case :) But yeah, that can be annoying indeed, i can see that.

But overall, i'm glad that there is a mechanic for this. I learned my lesson and wont disconnect anymore if i get invaded.

I believe there is an item that allows you to send back invaders/summoners to their worlds. But it counts as sin I believe. So expect more invaders after that :P

what was the consensus on Adaptabilty?

I took it to 20 with endurance for the speedy drinking and the poise bonus. It's awesome. drinking fast is often the difference in bosses or in dirty fighting pvp.

does any other game have stat synergy like the poise bonus? I love the concept.

How faster you drink the estus with 20 Adaptability?

It works on invaders? In past games, it only worked on friendly summons (or yourself if you're in someone's world). I would imagine it's the same here.

not sure about invaders, never used it myself. Rather annoying with a host uses it though. Luckily they get sin.

I don't think an item like that exists. What is it called? The message "driven away from the world.." or something appears when the host disconnects iirc.

WTF, I was just summoned in Belfry Luna to a place called belfry sol. I'm not even that far, why am I being summoned there?

Are you wearing the bellkeeper ring? Maybe it can summon you to either, once the latter is unlocked. says it "summons" you to a belltower, doesn't specify which.

You'll normally invade the one you're closest to.. but there's two Bell towers. Sometimes you get the other one. I didn't even know Belfry Luna existed until after I beat the game the first time offline and went back to do some online stuff and was summoned there.

Any recommendations for getting the treasure on lava in IK. I have orange Burrs, and flash sweat but keep dying instantly

Go up the ladder to where the mimic chest is and break the pots to cover yourself in water. There's a pharos cube you can use even further up to get wetter, but that's up to your discretion. Oh, and do flash sweat, burrs and the hexxer set, if you have it. Drop from where the archer is, take two potions right off the bat then run and mash X. If you have enough health and protection, you'll get the item, even if you die.

Flash Sweat + High Fire Res Armor and Rings + douse yourself in water from the vases or the pool you can activate with pharros stones + pop a powerful Lifegem before you run on the lava (only works if you are not at maximum health). Also drink a few estus charges before you push the button to open the chest. You can reach each item that way and even make it back.

I tried that stone ones actually, but it didnt seem to work. Or maybe it only works under certain circumstances?

EDIT: I see now that someone said it only works with white phantoms. Makes sense that it didnt work when i tried it on red phantoms then =)

Flash Sweat
Orange Burr
Alonne Knight Armor
Flame Quartz Ring
Crush a lifegem first, and chug estus before long pickup animations
Roll around in water first (barrels, or the phaross lockstone)

That last one seems important.. flash sweat doesn't do much.

That only works for white phantoms. It's the Black Separation Crystal.

it only work with friendly phantom, not invaders

Ah I see. I never had any attention to use it (cause I'm not a dick like those two hosts were).

I got summoned for the final Iron Keep boss
Old Iron King
and the guy immediately sent me and other back. Prob didn't like my fire pyromancy chest armor that left very little covered with only a bikini top. lol. Was using it since it had high fire resistance at the time.

Other time was in Drangleic Castle near the 1st bonfire. I had no idea where the host was, since hosts didn't stick around after they summoned me. I now bet the host went for the boss near the King's Door. No way for me to really tell, since other summons there either went for the boss or for the other route.

Jesus Christ, kinda crazy hard they are to get to. I die so quickly when I attempt it. I gave up lol. I'll try this list.

They might have not kicked you out with the stone. If they already beat the boss in an area and they summon someone, the fog doors go back up and phantoms get sent back home if the host walks through the fog.

If anyone wants to be invaded more often, it seems sinning will do the trick. I killed manscorpion after killing the final boss and exhausting all his quests and what not and went from never getting invaded to getting invaded relatively often. Absolving sins seem to cost 1,000 x your soul level whether you have one or one hundred sins. That damn manscorpion cost me 110k souls.

Yeah I looked up what treasures they were and just don't care to go through it all to get them. It's nothing I need and just too much of a hassle.

I made the mistake of trying to get some of them without killing the enemies first. Pretty good at aiming at the archers with my binoculars now.

What's the one in the big room just after
Smelter
? Seems like by far the hardest to get, but I kinda doubt it's even all that worth it.

I got the two near the first bonfire, and in both cases it felt like a waste of time.

That 2nd guy perhaps didn't, but the 1st guy certainly did. I got the "sent home by host" message if they do it. And he was literally in front of me and used an item. You get a different message if they leave the area, which is what another did (though I don't blame him of course and not counting him as part of it, since he didn't purposely send me back.)

Allone knight armour + rolling through pots got me them pretty easy.
Didnt have the ring or any burrs.

Worth it in the back room of keep as there is a fire seed and chaos storm pyromancy which ive used ever since. The boss nuke as i call it. the one below boss door is a shitty shield.

Cant remember what the one one by the bridge is.. Thats probably the easiest one to get.

What he said. I just went for a pure melee build so I haven't or care to use pyromancy at the moment but yeah, you'd probably want that if that's your goal.

Man, guess I should've checked the stats for the Allone armor. I have the full set and they look cool. The helmet is neat.

I upgraded a broadsword with lighting damage and upgraded to 10+, it seems to do more lighting base damage than my old heide sword which is good. I was thinking of maybe later on using great swords but beyond looking cool they suck for pvp, they swing so slow i can beat most people with it.

I never knew there was an NPC summon in shrine of amana

she pretty much solo'd the areas to the boss before dying on NG+, I wish I'd have known in NG ~___~

also, soul geyser is insanely OP

I just beat the
guardian dragon
boss before it even moved

and that was one of my favourite fights as a melee build my first time around

At least hosts can light bonfires now (making them warpable) when a phantom is around. I've gotten kicked out plenty of times in Anor Londo once we get to the second bonfire. I'm glad they changed that.

I had a STR build aswell. Died as much as you. Beat him yesterday. Here are my tips;
Use the Souther Ritual Band +1, get a Pyro Glove, upgrade it to +10. Then get Flame Swathe aswell as Chaos Storm. (This one is tricky and in Iron Keep.)
Use no armor so you can roll through everything. Flame Swathe his ass two times. Then go in for two Chaos Storms. Timing is crucial as you can be stuck in animation.
Congrats, Dorkfucker is now dead.

Don't forget that nice buddy of your's that gave you them last effigies in jolly cooperation. ;)

Seriously though, Mr. Dork must be the worst balanced boss/enemy ever.
I took him down on my second try, by hurling five Sunlight Spears at him. It definately diminishes the satisfaction of beating him.

I wish phantoms could use a bonfire to refill our stats/etc.
