Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Hmm, now that got me thinking where I'm thinking Smash 4 would place in my own rankings:

In order of preference:

1- Project M
2- Melee
3- Smash 64
4- Brawl

I'm thinking 4 would take a place between 1 and 3 depending on how it turns out (Both multiplayer and singleplayer). Sadly I'll have to wait until mid-next year to get it on WiiU and won't be able to ride the release hype wave :( I will have to do with the 3DS version.

And no, its not that I hate Brawl itself but for some reason I don't remember playing it much after release / unlocking stuff, and my friends quickly lost interest on it and fell back to Melee. In comparison I played 64 and Melee much more on their respective releases.

Yes I know Project M is not a main game but by how much I'm enjoying it, it certainly feels like one!

Mine would be

1. Super Smash Bros. Melee
2. Super Smash Bros. 64
3. Super Smash Bros. Brawl
4. Super Smash Bros. for 3DS / Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

I'm just kidding I have no idea how good/bad Super Smash Bros. for 3DS / Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is going to be, yet :D

Mario looks great with or without outlines, while Link looks awful without them.

There was never any doubt about which way I was gonna play the game though.

Hmm...I'll probably stick with the lines since they're more visually distinct, but I'll probably have fun experimenting with them anyway.

Nicee, you and I both breh :]

I would still be playing Brawl online if the netcode was well done, despite some of my dislikes. Smash is a game that I just cannot deny.. all those Nintendo characters in one place, beating the shit out of each other, was the greatest creation to come out of Nintendo.

I'll be right here with you guys, too. Especially if the online is awesome. (Which, with Namco I think it will be :D

Pssh. I'm always confident! Hah. Bet against me?! YOU'LL LOSE.

You know that makes perfect sense... NO WONDER! Guys we need to get on this right now! What have we been doing!

Then it's on tonight! >=) has to be a playable character? Or do you want to make it playable character/AT?

I think you guys really underestimate the amount of discussion smash conjures up even after the games release, it doesnt even have to be focus on competitive until a long time after as the main thing from smash isnt even that part of it.

Yeah, I agree. People will be talking about their favorite stages, items, game modes, the differences made to veterans between games, favorite characters old and new, new mechanics, old mechanics and changes to them like ledge mechanics, ATs, secret characters and stages, the list goes on and on and that is before tiers even emerge.

GON B FUN

Haven't owned a SSB since Gamecube Melee.

So Captain Falcon was removed from the lineup? Why?!

WTF is it with Nintendo and F-Zero?

correct order:

1. Melee
2. 64
3. Smash 4 Wii U
4. Brawl
5. Smash 4 3DS

you'd have to try pretty hard to make the new smash worse than Brawl. From what we've heard so far (faster than Brawl, no tripping), I'm confident smash u will be better than Brawl.

you can't play Smash on a 3DS. Even with a circle pad pro, I doubt people will be putting much time into Smash 3DS.

@Vitacat: You should calm down, there's been no removals thus far. :P

Project M has pretty much wholesale replaced Brawl as the third Smash game for me lately. :lol

1. Project M
2. Smash 64
3. Melee
4. Vanilla Brawl

I'm sure Melee is/could be bumped up one, but muh feels/nostalgia for Smash 64 will never die out. Smash 4 has a legitimate chance of being either number one (with the right roster and good movement options) or two on this list.

Not sure where you heard that Captain Falcon was removed. He was in Brawl as an unlockable character and will most likely be the same for this one.

Favorite SSB games released so far in descending order:

1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Brawl+ mod)
2. Super Smash Bros. Brawl (ProjectM mod)
(2.5 Super Smash Bros. Brawl vanilla)
3. Super Smash Bros. Melee
4. Super Smash Bros.

Didn't want to push SSB64 out of the list D:

1. Project M
2. Melee
3. Smash 64
4. Brawl

Say what you will, Project M has become an essential part of the series, with for without official endorcement. I'd even be willing to bump Brawl up a peg being that it's required in order to run M.

And I'm not going to pretend I don't still love Brawl. I've sunk weeks of my life into that damn game... I just don't love it nearly as much as Melee.

I saw the amount of discussion Brawl got after release on this forum (aka not much).

Just like every other Nintendo-related OT outside of Pokémon...

Also, since everyone else is doing it:
1. Melee
2. Project M
3. Brawl
4. 64

Brawl>64 because I'm a cruel person and I enjoy watching people's smiles fall off their face as I time them out.
Am I serious, or am I joking? You decide.

1. Project M
2. 64
3. Melee
4. Brawl

I love the purity of 64. Brawl is really hard to go back to after PM because of the physics.

With advanced wars being released on VC, what are the chances of Andy being announced as a playable character?
I saw this and was like, WHAT! And then I was told that it's for the GBA virtual console, but not announced for North America. ;_;

So maybe that means even less chance for a Smash Brothers character, even though I think there was very little chance already besides the assist trophy.

I think I would've felt the same way if I played PM more. I only played it once or twice when my cousin brought his wii over with PM. Since I don't have it, I mostly played Brawl with my brothers.

1. Super Smash Bros. Brawl
2. Super Smash Bros. Melee
3. Super Smash Bros.

I'm sure Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U will take the top spot once it's released. Content is king, after all. More characters, more stages, more items, and more features equals a bigger and better game to me.

And lol, Project M. Even if I did like it, I wouldn't compare it to the official Smash Bros. games. That fact that it's a fan mod is way too apparent and it just feels wrong as a result. Too many things tampered with.

1. Project M
2. Melee
3. Brawl Minus
4. Smash 64
5. Brawl Plus
6. Brawl

Brawl is still decent though. Just on the bottom of a great list.
Kinda like the DS Zeldas. Only bad for what they are compared to, but not bad games at all.

Melee #1 :D
64 - very fun as a kid, had lots of good times with friends also I was watching gamegrumps er steam train the other day and they played smash 64 and I was reminded how much fun that game is http://www.youtube.com/watch_videos...tW-ZjQkPuFU,aXtckXgwn4A,zroDDiYCF5Q&more_url=

last is Brawl ...I know that it's better than 64, but..for some reason it just didn't click with me like the other two games did. It.is my least played smash lol just 1 month while melee ..i played for 7+ years before I finally put the game down iirc

I would be really into PM if Nintendo had released it. The fact that it isn't official is a big deterrent. So is the fact that it gets balance changes.

A lot of PM feels hacked together and setups feel too intentional. It tries too hard to be exactly what I think I would want. The end result ends up not working as well as Melee. Melee manages to strike a perfect balance in a happy accident.

That said, if PM were the new game (or even just Brawl+), I'd have probably happily moved over and not looked back. I don't think we'll hit the heights of Melee again, but all I want is a decent Smash game. One that doesn't go out of the way discourage me from moving left and right repeatedly, or lading while doing an aerial, or trying to do consecutive hits to my opponent. At this point I won't quit playing Melee, but I'd like to be enthusiastic about Smash4 after I play it.

And if everyone else is:
Melee > PM = 64 > (4?) > Brawl
