Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

To those who said there is no outline for his sword, look here:
HDW5M27.png
So... Palutena confirmed?

No, there were 3DS pics before where the "weapons" of a character aren't outlined (Luma for example). Whoever made the Palutena fakes was clearly more observant than most other people here.

Don't need to be observant when leaking a real image from the game ;)

I can't believe there have already been 6 OTs for this game before the game has even released. Is it even possible for the ACTUAL game to have this many OTs?

You guys are crazy. In a good way.
Have you seen Halo/HaloGAF threads??

EDIT:
How many are there?
Would've been in the 20's for HaloGAF (OT community threads, not counting side threads or the game threads) but we got shut down..
again.
After E3 we shall be revived!

Halo and Smash seem to be garner the most active communities around.

?
Could you elaborate?

Just from seeing the comments here from people saying it's pretty hard to see some characters without outline, one could have an early advantage playing against someone with it off due to their elusiveness. I am probably misinterpreting and it's a universal setting per person.

edit: The last sentence makes a lot more sense. I need to start thinking personlized game instead of a local play on one screen.

Slim to none.

I think sakurai has proven that if he can make a character fun and interesting to play, he has a chance at smash bros. I can imagine an advance wars character having a unique moveset (or at least have someone replace some of snake's moveset if snake is cut :( :( :( )

I wouldnt say chances are ZERO, but they're probably low.

Edit:

Also, the reason smash has so so so so many posts is that we get 5 new pictures ever week, each containing something worthy of anywhere from 3 to 30 pages worth of posts. No other game has a constant stream of information like smash bros, so I think that directly correlates to the number of threads. Otherwise, it'd die down every other week due to lack of information.

There was also the Rock Band Platform thread, which was the equivalent of 7 OTs before Evilore shut it down.

But is Halo and Rock Band threads right after the release? Also are those Halo and RockBand OT covered other sequel games as well right?

Smash 4 will not have 5 OTs post-release.
book it

It might, but only under key circumstances:

  1. It's competitive, balanced, and has long-lasting/rewarding online play. (like halo)
  2. There is a constant stream of DLC (like rock band)
  3. It has tons of secrets that require the community to get together to help figure out how to unlock them all. (like dark souls)

I dont see either of those being that likely, so I don't see it having 5 OTs

Yeah, Rock Band OT covered RB1, RB2, DLCS, along with discussion about RB Beatles and RB3 from what I see. Rock Band OT were kept alive by multiple games, and Halo are exactly same way with Halo 3 and sequels. Also Halo have a really good long term completive online, which is great thing for OT.

I already expected that to happens. Pre-Release Hype are the most important aspect of Smash Bros Culture.

Also the threads are solely for Smash 4 along small amount of old game discussions. Plus I can't really see many OTs in the future unless they decided to work on patches and making DLC characters.

Halo threads before and after the game is released -- the high activity is still maintained. And yeah, just like this Smash thread those Halo threads do have discussion about previous games and how they apply to the current release.

Damn really? Shit, if I have anything to do with it this community will last for a while! Smash and Halo are my passion games ;]

That's big if. If SSB4 ended up being competitively game which is way better than Super Smash Bros Brawl then I could see threads lasted for awhile. If Melee Players ended up preferring Super Smash Bros Wii U over Melee then that would be good signs for OT and players, but I have a feeling that Melee Players might stick with Project Melee and Melee itself.

Basically it's a wait and see game.

It was at E for All and some Japanese convention.

I will always remember E For All because of how the crowd reacted to Ike initially. Apparently he was much faster (almost Marth or his Project M speed while running) but people responded badly to that + his KO power.

I wish Sakurai would give him back that speed and replace Eruption with a chargeable grounded sword wave projectile. Those are literally the two things needed to change Ike from someone I screw around with casually to a member of the Azure Squadron™.

Yeah, personally though my body has been waiting for a new Smash game since Brawl fumbled the online. Smash 64 will always be my game to fall back to since the community is still rather active and I'm still learning new tech, new combos, etc., but the games are laggy sometimes because people just don't have great connections.

Smash 4 has an unmatched style from previous games, so hopefully they execute properly on all fronts. I can't possibly see how this community would just die off after so much anticipation.. Maybe if the game was drastically changed, but that definitely won't happen.

I keep wondering if Super Smash Bros. for 3DS / Super Smash Bros. for Wii U can take Super Smash Bros. Melee's place in competitive gameplay.
But yeah, we can do nothing but wait and see.

I don't think Community will die right after release date, but the people that we know in SmashGaf probably would change since some people are just in for the hype trains. I'm going to stick with Smash Community long as I can before I retired from Gaming.

I feel like Online play is gonna play a big factor in Smash 4's longevity. If they can really flesh it out and provide multiple modes and options while keeping it lag free that would be enough to keep me playing for a long time. The shoddy online in brawl was a huge disappointment so hopefully they right the ship this time around.

I really hope that it would take Melee's place in competitively gameplay AND casual gameplay. I'm always down for any games.

Did this place explode when mega man was revealed?

NeoGAF was down so not a lot of people had chance to express their real hypes.

Nicee, you and I both breh :]

I would still be playing Brawl online if the netcode was well done, despite some of my dislikes. Smash is a game that I just cannot deny.. all those Nintendo characters in one place, beating the shit out of each other, was the greatest creation to come out of Nintendo.

It should attract long time Mega Man fans as well. Smash is my favorite game series of all time. In order of what I like
1. Brawl
2. Smash 64
3. Melee

Once Smash 4 is out
1. Smash 4 both versions
2. Brawl
3. Smash 64
4. Melee

agreed I never really disliked brawl much at all except for a few things. I play Project M now mainly because it's something semi new and has mewtwo in it. But It wouldn't kill my interest if smash 4's gameplay still leans more on the brawl side as long as they add more modes and improve online i'm good.

You say this as if there's any chance SSB4 doesn't replace Brawl for "casual" players.

Naw, I meant there are some items that I like that are completely different than what they are in Brawl. We can get unlimited pokeballs spawn in Melee, and we only get up to three pokeball at once in Brawl. Also Pokeball Pokemons' ratios is pretty weird in Brawl.

Also it's annoying how Dragoon would prevent some items to spawns.

Well it's on 3DS, too so it will more likely draw people away from Brawl I guess. Even if they hate Wii U for whatever reason - everybody loves the 3DS :D

I didn't say SSB4 Wii U, I said SSB4 in general, which includes the 3DS version :P
would be funny if some people in here got their wish and the 3DS version sold less than the Wii U version, would ensure the game fails to meet Nintendo's expectations

How do you know Super Smash Bros. for 3DS / Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be first place? :P
