Excited to try Golden Sun for the first time.
Usually it's because the games didn't hold up or the publisher was trying to make a quick buck and completely devalued it. I don't buy Steam games for more than $5 now (down from $10), not because I don't think games cost that much but because there's no reason to. If a publisher says their game is worth nothing I'm not arguing with that. I'll buy it and probably not play it.
Especially when Nintendo has been putting VC games on sale, with multiple game discounts fairly often.

Also, I really hope Wii U owners support Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission when they are released. If these games are successful then perhaps it'll give Nintendo reason to consider a sequel.
Speaking of GBA, I found Drill Dozer, brand new, for $2.50 at an FYE Store. That was fortunate. There are people who paid the full $30 for that and determined it was one of the best GBA games and worth the original price.
Just because I got it for $2.50 doesn't mean that's what the game is worth and what people should expect to pay for it.
That said I'm all for reasonable sales for those who are willing to wait. With Steam you don't even have to wait; things are on sale all the damn time.

Even if he didn't get it at sale price he's still paying like $2 more for a PS2 game then he is for a GBA or SNES game.
I think $20 for a gamecube game is pretty decent. But i still think the pricing of nes, snes, gbc, and gba games are a bit too steep. Of course i'm a bit lenient with some games like Earthbound and such but still, the perceived value for average consumer is likely going to be a bit cheaper now days.

$7-$8 is fair pricing, especially if they do a promotion like they are with Japanese releases. These are some of the best games on the GBA. If they release lesser titles in the future I would want them to go as low as $5 and if they put in extra effort (such as translating Mother 3 or having the e-Reader content in SMA4) I wouldn't mind paying upwards of $10. Kind of surpised that people expected Nintendo to charge less for GBA games than SNES games. The games are newer and similar in power.
The GBA pricing is in line with SNES VC titles. GBA was kind of like a portable SNES, so it makes some kind of sense.
The DS was like a portable N64, I think DS games would be $9.99 as well.
If we ever get GameCube games, I think $14.99 would be the starting price.

These GBA games would be much better suited to 3DS releases. I wonder why Nintendo is having so much trouble coming up with a proper GBA emulator for their portable system.

It's also kind of disappointing that multiplayer won't function on the Wii U GBA VC...
Yeah, these are so dark, they look terrible. I understand wanting to negate GBA games' super-bright color palettes, but I think they went too far.
Hopefully it's a toggleable filter like GB green on 3DS.

Judging by Euorpe and Japan the games should all be $7. There is a $7 and $8 tier so it is like they used tired pricing to up the price rather than lower it...
When you see Advance Wars it'll cost an American $16 for the two games. Japan gets both in one package which costs like 700 yen (they could have released the games separately for VC).
Even if they were to do it Europe would once again be left with an inferior version lacking the levels.
I also have the cynical feeling it'll made as DLC if it were to happen.

It is called bundling a save file with it. They won't do it because like having Gyro to release Yoshi's Universal Gravitation that is like effort which is against the Nintendo emulation ethos.

8 dollars is ridiculous for straight ports of nearly 10 year old handheld games. They won't be getting my dollar.
Edit: Not to mention the missing content these games will have thanks to lack of multiplayer. Wouldn't be surprised if the e-Reader content for some of these games was paid DLC.

Hnnng it's so close...I have wanted to play it for so long.
While the DS may have been roughly a portable N64, DS games were released from 2004 (geez really that long ago? I am feeling old) to around 2011. N64 games were released from about 1996-2001. I have a feeling you're going to be paying more for games released 3-10 years ago than you'd pay for games released 12+ years ago.

Dat first post. I don't understand why they port the gba versions of SNES games. I'd rather have the better SNES version with the better sound chip.

I mean, we've been paying $8 for all SNES games since the Wii VC started in 2006. Nintendo's pricing is nothing new.

Although Nintendo has done some experimentation with DLC, I think they perfer to charge for content up front. I doubt we'll get the content, but if we did they would probably just bump up the base price.

I doubt Nintendo cares much about not getting your dollar, as plenty of others will throw money at their feet for this content.

Lots of people probably haven't. When they were released GBA games had a low overhead on them, and you could pick up most of these titles for $30 on release. It's hard to feel like paying roughly a third of that over ten years down the road is very worthwhile, particularly when one of the main functionalities of the titles (them being portable) has been removed.

I think its bad for me they´re selling VC games at high prices
But i also think its worst for nintendo that they´re trying to sell these games at high prices.
High prices mean
+ More profit per game sold
- Less people buying
- People buying less games
- People thinking more before buying a game, spending more time with a single game (at least i can tell im guilty on that one - every VC game i got was played to hell)
- VC service a lot less popular than it could be
- If you want to warm an old franchise, VC aint helping much
Lower prices could mean
- Less profit per game sold
+ More people buying
+ People buying more games.
+ Depending on the price, people buying ALL games EVERY week
+ More impulse buy
+ Less time spent on VC games (because they are cheap), wont compete with full retail WiiU titles
+ VC service getting more popular reaching more people
+ Re-ignite old franchises for a bigger interested base
- A few People buying WiiU just for VC and ignoring retail games
+ But even that is good.

Surprised no one else is talking about this because this is what disturbs me the most. The GBA titles were dim and dulled-out on the 3DS as well. Looks like they didn't attempt to address this. What a damn shame.

You can always turn your TV's brightness up, it doesn't solve the problem if you are playing on the gamepad, but it is still something.

I guess this means a month without any new SNES of NES releases besides SMB3 then... not sure how I feel about that, especially since playing GBA games on my Wii U doesn't appeal to me at all. I still have my backlit SP and my old games, so if I really wanted to, I could play them that way. Metroid Fusion on the big screen sounds interesting, so I suppose I'll try it out with that game at the very least.
