One of my favourite MCU movies. Way better than the first one, which I felt fell apart after (and during) the montage. One thing kinda bothered me though (not really a spoiler, but just in case):
Cap's shield lost its ability to absorb all kinetic energies or whatever
. Not a big deal, and I totally understand why they did it. Pretty straightforward action, since the twists were pretty easy to see coming (or straight up know). But there were people gasping with one of the "twists". Even though it didn't really offer anything unique, it felt like the movie was doing more of its own thing than being just a Marvel flick. Good post credit scenes too.

Did I hear a Strange reference? That is a marvel character, right?

Yeah, Sitwell names Stephen Strange (aka Doctor Strange) as an example of a person HYDRA will be taking out. He is a sorcerer. Often the sorcerer in the comics.

I see some REDACTED text up in here.. You should join us in the Spoiler Thread.

PS Cap 2 Spoilers, The Winter Soldier's true identity is really THE KING IN THE NORTH

Yeah I also accidentally waltzed into the spoiler thread mistaking it for this one and saw Bronson's post. Im not altogether upset because it's seems to be something everone saw coming from a mile away. Still, i must take extra care reading these thread titles.

I just got out of the theater.

This movie is fucking incredible.

I'm not even a fan of Cap and this easily stands as Marvel's best. Period.

Feedback from my friend was very positive. Said it's probably the best Marvel he's seen so far.

Loved everyone, including Falcon...which I find hard to believe, but he's apparently a great addition and very well acted and charismatic. Special mention went to ScarJo, who he thought was amazingly on point throughout the movie and the real star...

Can't wait to see it on Saturday.

Lawd have mercy!

Crowd reactions? Crowd reactions people!

The crowd wasn't as major as Iron Man 3 or Avengers was, but in good old Marvel fashion when they deliver a scene, the crowd will respond accordingly.

Don't find it hard to believe in Falcon. He owns every scene he's in with perfect delivery and deserves to be a mainstay in the series. In the movie's present time where Cap still finds himself misplaced, Falcon is the guy in the movie to bring things down to earth (ironically).

I maintained for a long time that ScarJo should have gotten her own movie, but after this movie I'm not so sure she even needs to. This movie was as much her own show as Cap's was, and she finally proves herself as a leading female character. She's probably the best thing about this movie.

Also the action scenes in this movie were absolutely on point. Hand-to-hand combat doesn't get better than this in super hero movies, and even the moments with flair added a huge level of cinematographic joy. It feels like some of the best comic book-style action we've seen.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention: 3D was pointless and only detracted from the fight scenes with the blinking/flashing/whatever shit.

I just got an invite to a private screening tomorrow night. This will be a great post-exam treat.

Yeah, me too. I got passes for tomorrow after last week's screening in NYC got overbooked. Hopefully I'll be able to get in this time.

3D is a bad idea about 98% of the time. When it's specifically intended for it it's amazing though. (Gravity.)

Quite a bit of people are saying it's better than The Avengers...

And avoid wiki unless you want the whole movie spoiled for you.

Mid credits scene was leaked as well.

I heard there are 2 scenes, one mid credits and one post credits.

Got my ticket for today, cant wait if it really is worth the scores (cap america 1 was ok, but overall not as good as other avengers cast movies)

Thor 2 got similar reactions from people: "Better than the first!" "One of the best Marvel films!" etc. and it turned out to be pretty mediocre so I'm going to wait until this hits DVD.

I'm definitely excited for GotG tho.

Unlike Thor 2 though this actually looks good. Thor 2 never looked good.

Bullshit.

It got positive buzz (as it should) but no one was saying Thor 2 was better than the Avengers.

To be fair Thor 2 WAS better than the first, and though it's not saying much, I'd probably say that it was at the time the best Marvel film that didn't have Iron Man in it. The big difference is the critical reception so far, and I think that speaks for itself.

I don't think this looks good at all, just based on trailers and the like.

This doesn't contradict anything I said btw.

Eh, I don't think it was. The first one was more coherent and the story wasn't just Thor/Loki fan service. It also wasn't as dumb and jokey and this is the Cap 2 thread why am I going on about Thor 2/derail

Sure it does.

*Better than the first Thor* is not similar at all too *Better than the Avengers*.

I never said that people said that it was better than the Avengers - just that they said that it was one of the best Marvel films when it really was no such thing.

Except Thor 2 doesn't have the critical acclaim that this movie is getting so far. And if you actually read the reviews on rotten tomatoes, you'll see that the movie is rather well received. But go ahead and ignore all the positivity on this and go rent it on DVD since you've obviously made up your mind going so far as to trash two marvel films

Yoooooooooooooooooooooooo! Just got back and this movie is pretty balls to the wall. Action is top notch and is arguably the best out of all the Marvel movies. Everyone is a badass and nothing felt like it dragged on. Pacing was very consistent throughout the entire movie. Best phase 2 for sure and I feel like I should edge it over IM1.

Just came back from the cinema. Truly epic, some of the fights were better than the ones in The Avengers and a thousand times better than anything Thor. The twist was nice as well.

Now that's something I find hard to believe.

I did enjoy Thor TDW though as it was certainly better than the original. Still, compared to the other Marvel flicks it's pretty okayish.

Just returned from a showing, and loved it! I The action scenes were superb, especially all the close-quarter moments.

And for those who like hanging around post credits, there are some nice teasers waiting for you.

Just got out of the theater and boy, you're in for a treat! I think what the movie did most for me was to set me really excited for future marvel movies, especially Avengers 2. Also I have to say that all the main characters were awesome, it was sorta indeed Avengers 1.5 like some people have been saying. So much better than the first movie, so so much.

I don't really know what to say 'cause I don't wanna spoil anything for anyone. Great action, great jokes. And the middle credit scene got me so excited, damn... I didn't leave the theater like "omg best movie ever" but it was indeed very good.

Watched it in 3D 'cause that was only reasonable time and it didn't bother me but I don't think it gave anything good for the movie, it probably never has. I personally didn't notice much 3D stuff in it but I might have been just concentrating on the awesomeness. I'd say go for 2D but 3D wasn't annoying expect for the glasses.

Other than Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, are there any cameos like Banner in IM3 or Cap in The Dark World?

I liked the last one. I just think these are hard to take after Avengers. The villain in Iron Man 3 wouldn't draw the interest of Shield? He fought toe to toe with Thor in Avengers, but gets shredded easily by humans.

I skipped Thor 2, but I'm interested in praise like this for Captain America.
