Touching summon signs for duels and running away chuggin Estus after one hit. Not to even mention abusing imbalanced builds, spawn camping and rude emotes (hatemail feels good tho after wiping the floor with their asses).

summon sign duels are always risky because there is a high....very high chance that you are going to get ganked

I think it's more of a problem with this games high levels and everyone being able to be jack-of-all-trades.

It is my preference to keep to one specialized playstyle per character e.g dual-wielding and high dexterity.

Yes, I'm a bit salty after my recent PVP sessions.

Why, that did help me at all! BAH!

*throws notepad in disgust*

the only bad thing about the pvp is the lag. I'm a mage, rolling out of a blade's reach is essential. getting hit when I'm clearly too far can be really frustrating.

The more PVP I play the more I realize how terrible I am.

And/or how unprepared my build is to tackle most challenges in PVP.

The more I invade people threatening my bell the more I realize most of them probably don't even know about the bell pvp stuff. I've lost three encounters from 25, and won every one just rolling around, stabbing people with the Sun Sword. Couple of the wins have been with someone else invading too though, can't really say those count.

And they have to roll through a shit ton of laggy protecticles before they even get to you, I'd say they have it worse.

Killing people in PvP with a sword earned through jolly cooperation? I'd normally say you should be ashamed of yourself. Buuuut then again, they were trying to ring your bell...

This is how I am sometimes. though slowly getting better.

I do better when they invade me and I make them come to me.

Anecdotally I've had my best luck in the Sentinel arena. When I invade or get invaded I get my ass handed to me more often than not. Generally I win 50% and lose 50%...figure not everyone can be an ace at this game. There's gotta be scrubs out there like me for aces to mop the floor with. ;)

My biggest problem with PvP is that I always make my characters for PvE. And they suck against to the armour-less agile players on PvP. Specially this character I'm playing with that goes for the jack of all trades master of none way. It works well in the game, but in PvP it is useless.

And the lag. One second you are facing your opponent. The other they are backstabbing you.

well obviously I don't know how they experience the lag, but any str build with a good greatshield can tank most spells. the lag is bad for everybody anyway.
at least backstab fishing seems to be a thing of the past.

I don't like soul memory and I never invade anyone ever. I've lost at least 300,000 souls on my faith character *that I can clearly count* over the past week. I also like to farm souls and buy everything from the merchants even if I don't need it. I'm that guy. I don't like the idea that these activities which don't make me stronger in any way are putting me in a higher "tier" and potentially making it harder for me to link up with other people.

I'm the same way pretty much. It's a decent enough idea, but the execution is doing nothing good for multiplayer. Because of it my pal and I who co-op every game we can co-op can't co-op in DkSII since I've farmed so much. Even though we have the same SL.

With the introduction of mundane weapons I don't see how jack of all trades could have it worse in PvP.

I can safely say I haven't been lagstabbed once so far, though I suspect I might have got a good lagstab in on someone while in vading in the Crypt.

Very few weapons shine as mundane and very few jack of all trades-players will level all stats equally.
You know I simply can't wrap my head around how mundane infusion works. What kind of build benefits from such a thing?

I've been once today.

Though, I suspect that lag helped me to banish a phantom that invaded a game I had been summoned to, when I still was able to play online. So...

I've been playing around with Dual Caestus and really enjoying it. Has anyone progressed to the end of "Company of Champions" Covenant where your basic fist do massive damage? I read this "Covenant ring for champions. Increases bare handed attack power.
The attack power increase scales with Dex and Strength, when testing I found that on 6 Str and 6 Dex you do about 200 damage a hit, however with 24 Str and 34 Dex the damage was a massive 424. You are also able to duel wield bare hands as if you have to claw weapons making the damage potential very potent."

Sounds interesting and fun.

Finished this last night and starting on NG+. Last playthrough was a balanced build, but this time I want to go full strength, with secondary in dex, adaptability and stamina. What's a good weapon (prefer one-handed swords or curved swords) that scales well to Strength?

Why is the drop rate for the black steel katana so fucking low? i've wiped out the entire area and not a single katana drop. This is with +item discovery and coins. Seriously, this is stupid. Seriously whomever said the katana was eays to get can go fuck themselves. They're either super lucky or lieing.

They were dropping like crazy for me on my STR build. On my DEX character not a single weapon drop. My friend had to drop one for me. >:[

I ran into one during a belfry sol invasion. He was good. His r1 L1 R2 combo would chew his stamina but would take 25 percent of my life. With my shake and bake I was able to get him to go thru 2 flasks, but not being able to use them myself, was the breaker and his win. I'm a dual melee player so I'm unsure what, if any, effect a shield would play during that pvp.

I'm using the Mastodon Halberd, I love it.

You guys are either lieing or just stupidly lucky. I've depopulated the entire fucking level and not a single drop. This is with +item discovery and a coin. Theres other way around it. Theres no fucking way it can be this rare.

I got 2 just doing the Iron Keep level normally, without any +item discovery items, seems you're just unlucky.

I've gotten 2 from the same guy who doesn't even use the katana.
captain knight right before smelter demon door

Yeah, I got quite a few Black Steel Katanas clearing that first area of Iron Keep.

I didn't feel like it was a very good weapon, though. Is there something I'm missing?

no, you people are all trolling me. That's it. You're all trolling me, theres no rhyme or reaosn why you can find several witbhout depopulating the level, but, I can not. I've even sued an ascetic and still no drop.

I got two of them in my first run in the iron keep last night on my second character. no item drop boosting.

I got many on my first play through as well.

Unless those knights drop two different kinds of katanas and I'm wrongly remembering which I got?

maybe they drop inversely proportional to how much Dex you have, as they are worthless for both of my characters.

I got a black katana on my first run through Iron Keep. I think the third guy I fought dropped one. I've got the explorer's hat on though.

I had about 5 drop all in one run. All I wanted was a helm.

Don't feel bad I am having the same luck. Tons of armor, helmet, leggings and gloves and not 1 dam katana. Guess my only option now is bonfire ascention.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sorry man, you're just having insanely bad luck. Maybe someone can just give one to you?

When you make a weapon mundane you lose half the base damage but add scaling based on your lowest stat. At 20 in every stat the scaling is 170. It shines with low dmg weapons and weapons without scaling. Seems a bit gimmicky for a 150 build and completely broken with an overleveled build.
