Dark Souls II |OT2| Prepare to Vengarl

Damn, there's so much BellBro action to be had in New Game Plus. At the end of my regular run it took 10-20 minutes between summons. On NG+ I get summoned every 45 seconds or so.

Going to be a quick run up to Rank 2 at this rate.

getting summoned has never been a problem for me. finding summon signs in ng+ is much harder for me. i still see them, just not littered everywhere. rarely on hard to reach bosses though.

So... I'm in NG+. Aldia Keep boss. I see a shade and think, why not. Not a hard boss but hey, let's give someone a free smooth & silky. And it's NG+, some bosses who were easy in NG aren't anymore, so I carefully eat an orange burr (forgot to attune Flash Sweat), buff my Chaos Blade with lightning resin, enter the fog. Run at boss, get one hit. Then I see some blue light beam and the boss's HP bar melts away in about 3 seconds. Dead.

..........Sorcery needs a nerf, I think. Shit's really, really ridiculous. Never, in all the Souls games, have I seen a boss dead so fast after entering the fog. And this is NG+ with a coop-buffed boss. Geez. Good thing I soloed him in NG because that fight's ruined now lol.

Sorcery, if anything, needs a buff. We get piss poor spell options and our bread and butter attack remains great heavy soul arrow, which without ATT or equipment bonuses, is a measly 10 casts.
Sorcery has always been intended for boss-destroying, so I'm actually perfectly ok with soul geyser two-shotting bosses (you get one cast, only in one of the final areas of the game). Besides, it's 100% dodgable in PvP so yeah.
But if you're talking hexes, then yeah hexes probably need a nerf.
it was much more difficult for me. the ng was cake. her pincer attack always got me. or maybe because i respecced from 38 adp to 20. i don't use shields.
I use a shield but the fight doesn't really need one. I just hit once, and run. It's a little tedious though I must admit.

I disagree. No spell should one or two-shot bosses. Even if it's just one cast, it just trivializes an entire boss. Meh. And even with just one cast, there's plenty of magic-refilling items.

I guess it has to do with no soul memory matching in NG+. The summoning rate to Bell Keepers was at 45 seconds when I started out, but it slowed down considerably as my soul memory increased (despite maintaining the same level). Now, at lvl 120 and 1.8 mil soul memory, it is at least 10 minutes between summons. People who want their bell keepers set in NG without having to invest significant time (and plenty of titanite chunks ...) should go to
iron keep
asap. The balcony outside of the second bonfire room is the perfect safe farming area. It is probably best to do all the 100 (well, or a lot more depending on your skill level) right there, so that the summoning rate does not become a problem. I guess
Lost Bastille
could also be viable, but I haven't tested myself. It seems like soul memory could be a problem there, because the soul rewards for doing bell keepers is a bigger deal at that point of the game.

Summoning anything for a boss fight trivializes bosses.
You don't have to use sorcery or hire sorcerers if you think they're OP.
It requires substantial investment into stats to make soul geyser worth it, it's literally the thing that sorcery has that makes it worth it. Pyro and dark magic both get much more, for way less investment.

Magic is OP in PvE and PvP everyone knows this. One shot bosses is piss poor game design and one shotting players with a single cast just goes to show how much of a joke the pvp is in this game or at least the balancing. You know what in pvp its not that bad because any half decent player can roll through all the magic so I can understand why they made them so powerful but in pve its just plain stupid.

Just beat the game. Enjoyed it immensely.

Nashandra was kind of a let down. Killed her with a bow.
I had the King's Crown on so the ending cutscene was pretty damn epic lol

The only bosses I didn't beat are
The Ancient Dragon and Durklurker
. I'll get to them eventually.

Magic is incredibly easy to evade or block in PvP.
And unless you've played a sorcerer in PvE and concluded that it makes the game too easy for you and therefore requires a nerf, I don't understand what you're complaining about.
If you've actually played a sorcerer, you wouldn't be complaining, because it isn't anywhere as game breaking as you make it out to be.

No, summoning a melee fighter in some NG+ bosses does not trivialize the bosses. It certainly makes most of them easier of course. I solo'ed the bosses in NG and sometimes summon for the company or just because I'm lazy in NG+, and some bosses are still challenging with two melee characters.

It's true that pyros require less investment. Fair point about how it's a payoff for a big investment but IMO it shouldn't OHKO bosses anyway.

Well, I am not very far into the game with my sorcerer, but it's much easier than melee that's for sure. Pew pewing everything from a safe distance, burning up with pyros when up close, boom.

Well I was doing a lot better with my sorcerer as my second character because I already knew from my experience with my first character (pure melee) on how to roll through every enemy attack as well as where to find all the items that I need. With my first character I didn't even find the sorcery trainer until I had 3 other great souls. Imagine how hard that would have been as a pure caster.

On NG with a pure sorcery caster there isn't a single boss that you can OHKO.
The boss is Aldia's Keep is also the only one that you can 2 hit KO. Darklurker comes close to a 2 hit KO, but a pure melee character with 0 point investment into INT or FAI can do the same with a pyro glove +10.

I wanted to add to that: yeah, next time I'm actually going to check the shade/phantom's outfit more carefully, and not hire them if they're sorcerers. :D I tend to forget that I can wait a few seconds and see an outline of the phantoms and their gear.

Had my mind set on making the Defender's Greatsword after Dresden's overwhelmingly positive post in the last thread, but decided to make the Thorned Greatsword instead after seeing that ranged R2 for PVP. Will take a while to adjust to not having the trusty Claymore thrust though :(

I thoroughly dislike s

o

albeit I suspect the reason for my dislike is a bit different from others. I hate water levels in games. Passionately.

So, I'm trying to do the Lucatiel storyline, but I think I've screwed something up or the game bugged out.

I first talked to her in L

B
astille
and later on in N

W

. I summoned her to the F

S

P

iirc and I'm pretty sure that I exhausted all of her dialogue. I summoned her to the S
melter
D
emon
fight, but she never entered the fog gate, I just saw her health bar and after the fight I saw her come in to the boss area and vanish like a phantom normally would. Now, I think this screwed up something because even though I could summon her for the L
ost
S
inner
fight - where she didn't survive - I couldn't find her at all in The B
lack
G
ulch
! I know where she is supposed to be and where the summon sign is but it's just not there. What do I do now?

FUCK

New Game + spoilers:

Holy shit does the difficult ramp up when you get to Drangleic Castle or what? That entrance was fucking obscene with that phantom with the goddamn spinning hammer attack doing all my HP, shit.

Now... I know that the Pursuers in the throne room have the Ring of Blades +2... I WANT THAT REALLY BAD. Unfortunately I simply feel like I'm not good enough to beat them :/ I didn't really have a difficult time with the game until now, those two are just too much.

can you just walk in there? i saw the doors were closed from afar but didn't check when i was there earlier. the phantom wasn't hard for me. the horde of enemies were as a dual wielder......i really hate when the game does that.

She died during the Last Sinner fight? Then you screwed up. You should have died and resummoned her the next time.

I'm past the entrance now and made it to the bonfire, just gotta keep hacking away at the (enemy spoiler)
Pursuers.

Anymore translations or is the menu loading the big ticket item now?

Pretty sure you are confusing him with the sorcerer in No Man's Wharf.
The guy in the wheelchair needs to talked to in 3 different locations.

i thought he meant the other wheelchair geezer in Cuntsman's Copse?

Ah nevermind that guy isn't in a wheelchair, it's just a chair.

A problem was fixed that when you died equipped with a ring of the basket of life, lose Seoul

I assume this means you'll start losing souls like normally even if you have the Ring of Life Protection equipped.

Time to find the Ring of Soul Protection, then. Wonder where I can get it.

I think it means they fixed the bug where you lose your souls despite having Life Protection ring equipped.

If it is like you interpret it, you can go buy Soul Protection from Vengarl.

Oh yeah, probably, sounds like that now that you said it. Thank god, I thought the price of my deaths would go from 3000 souls to 9000 souls lol

Motherfucker, just wasted a couple of human effigies going through the D
ark Chasm of Old
. Finished all
three parts
but forgot to light
the torch in two of them.
.

Strange, I don't think I did it on the first one but increased rank anyway. I assumed you didn't have to to get through each one, but after
finishing the Black Gulch and Shaded Woods
, I didn't reach rank two.

Anybody know if there's something very particular I'm supposed to do in each one?

Rank 1 for beating the first dungeon.
Rank 2 for lighting all the torches. 1 in each.
Rank 3 for beating
Darklurker

Damn. Is it possible to use a bonfire ascetic and try to do it again?

Yes it is.

I had missed all of them except Smelter Demon so I went back and did Flexibly Sentry with bonfire ascetic once and then I killed the Rotten in Black Gulch.

After completing a boss three times with Lucatiel I meet her in Alda Keep and she popped my trophy after talking too her.

Just remember not to talk to her in Alda Keep until you have killed a boss with her three times or it becomes missable.

She died on the
Sinner
fight for me as well, but she survived the other three. I'm headed to
Aldia's Keep
right now, will I be good if I talk to her there? This questline is awful confusing.

you just need to talk to her in all the right places and win 3 fights out of the 4.

Alright, I'll try that out then. Is the L

S

storyline is complete for me. 3 victories and I need to talk to her one more time to get her gear. All that is left is 2 more B

wins and I can just bonfire ascteic him since he can be summoned for a REALLY easy boss.

Trying to get the max out a covenant achievement asap - I was doing the rat one but it felt kind of lame to just sit there and wait for people to be summoned (Fun! But it got old fast). Now in Sunbros with 1 sun medal, 29 to go, lol!

Hey guys, I'm thinking about grabbing this game after work today. I played and beat Demons Souls and played a little bit of Dark Souls but got lost and never finished it. I've been watching a lets play of this on YouTube and I've decided to buy it later. The reason I stopped playing Dark Souls is because I was essentially lost. I didn't know if I was upgrading right or even if I was going the right way. Do you guys think I should just go in blind because I was planning on buying the Strategy guide as well. Any tips?

How do summons for bonfire astetics work? I finally killed Scorpioness on NG+ bonfire mode for her ring but any summons I got were pretty much getting 1 hit KO'd.

Was I basically summoning poor people unknowingly into my burned bonfire boss, or were they from ng+? (Doubt it due to their low level equipment). Or are they others who have burned an astetic in NG mode?

Either way summon signs were rare as hell, I had a good few goes trying to kill her just with Tark which ended badly as he died within 30 seconds usually.

He did fine on the
Looking Glass Knight
for me, barely took any damage at all. Haven't gotten to the other two yet though.

Also just wanted to mention that they seriously picked the absolute worst bosses for Lucatiel. F
lexile
? Fell off the walkway on the way to the ship. S
inner
? Fell off the narrow bridge in front of the fog door. S
melter
? Jumped in the lava in front of the fog door. And in every case, I killed all the enemies and then retrieved her. It was just infuriating, especially the S
inner
one that happened 3 times.
