That's exactly what Feige has been saying from early on. Their plan is to "James Bond" it. The negative impact from recasting a main character is far less than rebooting continuity ad-nauseam, especially when every movie is so intrinsically tied to the next.
Curious to see how that works out. James Bond doesn't have any real continuity right? So that time-line gets a soft reboot with every new bond unless I'm misunderstanding. But I'm glad they are considering doing that. Rebooting in this universe would be so unfortunate and a pain for the audience. The biggest challenge would be Stark really.

I think they will treat it as they do in the comics. I don't think they'll really need to rely on flashbacks or anything that could potentially throw off newcomers. Simply explain anything from the past movies that has a bearing on the current story being told, and don't force yourself to follow every little detail to a T and risk writing yourself into a corner.

Comic book readers really get it - they understand that every writer and artist has a different take on the characters and how they act, look, interact etc. and that suspension of disbelief that's expected of the audience helps to keep these continuities going for decades. It's not really that different from having to recast an actor that may look different and have a different vibe than the previous actor. They may not be the same guy and right now we all think RDJ is the "perfect" Stark, but comics Stark wasn't always an RDJ-clone like he is now, and the next guy can come along and bring something new to the table that we didn't expect.

I think Feige believes he can carry that aspect over to film, they just need to be clear about it and execute it properly.

When/what do you think the first Marvel horror movie will be?

My choice would be Moon Knight. I've always loved the character, and with his ancient Egyptian origins it wouldn't take much to twist him from a crimefighter into an undead / demon hunter similar to Van Helsing. It would make him a supernatural hunting Batman character of sorts.

I just really want to see Moon Knight on the big screen. :D

Bond is really weird about its continuity. It has it whenever it wants and then, bam, forget that stuff here's a new bond film with no continuity. But, yeah, Bond has never felt a need to tie itself too tightly to continuity.

I noticed a few people saying their theatre is showing it tonight starting at 8:00. The same is true for me... every theatre in the area is showing it starting at 8:00 and many continuing through midnight showings.

The earliest one here is at 7:20pm non-3D. My girlfriend had originally gotten tickets for that showing but I don't get out of work until 6:30pm so I wouldn't have had enough time. Good thing she went back and exchanged the tickets for the 9:00pm show.

If CA can draw near the same numbers that the last Thor did, they can care less for this. It's proven by now that the Marvel Studios movies ara as capable to bring the big numbers.

Yeah, I could see there being a big negative reaction if they recast Stark right after Avengers or something, but at this point I think Marvel's brand as a whole is more of a pull than any of the individual actors and that will only increasingly become the case in the lead up to Avengers 3.

God these impressions are killing me....When I first saw Cap 1 I was underwhelmed. I must have been drunk or something because after watching it again in a sober state I was completely blown away how good it actually was lol.

Now people are saying it is even better than the first one? And I heard that the action drew inspiration from The Raid? Hype...Hype everywhere...

Tagged in case you want to be truly surprised, but be on the look out for
one of the scientists doing work on Bucky, it's Brubaker
.

Holy shit, really? :D Thats awesome :D They should do something like this more often, not only
giving Stan Lee a Cameo, they should give the writers of the adapted storyline also a cameo.

RT is now at 89%. Bomba confirmed.

and as it goes with a lot of movie reviews on rottentomatoes, half the negative reviews are absurd and seems to bitch just to bitch without any solid critique of the movie. Like that david poland one where he based some of his negativity because the film is getting a fresh rating on rottentomatoes. It comes off as a "whaaaa i don't enjoy this movie so the people who do are stupid!!" its a wonder how some of them even managed to be reviewers.

Feige was in Iron Man 3, I loved his cameo.

But yeah I think it's awesome that
the creator of the character himself has a cameo in the movie, where he is literally creating the character.
XD

Reading reviews for this film might mean trouble for another Iron Man or Thor film. Or whatever they have planned in the Avengers side of things. I think there is a segment of film reviewers who are still tired of comic book movies are are starting to vent their frustration.

So many reviewers are saying "Another one? Please", "Stale" "Fistfights. Ho-hum." That last one is CRAZY, considering how many people complained about the first Cap movie had montages instead of action sequences.

This is a real thing btw, reviewers so upset that a movie is getting good notices, that they are skewed to want to give it a bad review. I knew this would happen the second i saw that they were screening the movie earlier. I bet a few saw the tomatometer for CAP 2 higher than The Grand Budapest Hotel, and said. "I don't think so."

People should really just don't care about scores or ratings, you just will start to collect a long list of people to hate, LOL.

For example, I took a look at that guy you mention, and he is just a full fledged troll. Hancock is a deep character study, Green Lantern gets a fresh rating, same with garbage like Land of the Lost or X-Men Origins- Wolverine or Transformers 2. Yet this, Thor, Iron Man 3, Watchmen, etc are nothing but garbage. Heck even the ones with a fresh rating like Avengers and Hulk are deemed "crap" in the blurb.

I know, opinions and all, but in the end, why do you really care about a guy who scored a movie 2/5 and the line reads: "one point for each of the lead actress' perky breasts".

Seeing a great score for a movie you like is always nice, but these movies can ignore that a bit if there is enough good WOM and people willing to see it.

Yeah, some of the negative reviews are incredibly petty and pathetic

Well, it does work and they did this twice at least already (Rhodey and Banner)

I always tell myself not to look at RT, but I still do anyway. These negative reviewers probably give negative reviews because it's a comic book film and they're extremely pretentious.

Well J.Michael Straczynski had a cameo in the first Thor as one of the rednecks trying to pull Mjolnir out of the crater, so it's not the first time they've done it.

Yep. You should see the Man of Steel Reviews. Dear god those critics were pretentious. Even more so than the movie. And my favorite go to is that god awful Man of steel review from expendable's website. I rolled my eye so much that it went back in time

LOL. That site is filled with film school first year's who seep pretentiousness on every paragraph. Reading a few of their reviews really took me back to my paper grading years.

It's better just to roll your eyes and move on.

Ghost Rider would have been my pick but he's damaged goods at this point. Blade or Nightstalkers aren't bad choices either. Morbius would please me immensely but i'm not sure if he's tied up with Spider-Man and Sony.

Total pipe dream is a Darkhold TV show ala Friday the 13th the Series/The X-Files

I love, love, LOVE the first appearance of Don Cheadle's Rhodey in Iron Man 2. It's so meta and gets me every time.

Tony: "Didn't expect to see you here."
Rhodes: "Well it's me, and I'm here, so get over it and move on."

That's pretty much how I expect it to go any time they recast someone. dealwithit.gif

Oh so the second Hulk movie is in this universe? I was never clear on that. Is that what Banner meant when he said "I broke Harlem"? (I wasn't even clear on where they fought)
