Pyro trainer woman drops a fire seed, and you'll get 9 effigies for clearing out the witch house in Things Betwixt. Killing NPCs will give you sin which carries into NG+ now, which will allow you to get invaded by blue sentinels

But the character in (forgot his name)
Brightstone cove
said I don't have any sins and I killed
Straid
in my first playthrough.

If you were really getting old and grumpy you'd start ignoring trophies like I did years ago.
I think the point is the game should encourage you more to fight the bosses by yourself, or at least reward you when you choose to make things more challenging for yourself like fighting
Lost Sinner in the dark
or
Mytha without draining the poison
.

Hm, I'm not sure. I know that my sin from killing the gals in Things Betwixt carried over at least. Is it possible that killing
Straid
doesn't count as sin or maybe the explody guys by his cell actually landed the death blow?

Biggest loss of this game happened last night. Lost around 75k on the Smelter Demon, then proceeded to lose to him 4 more times. Wonderful. 75k is a good bit of souls around level 93.

And one weird thing happened all night. My summon sign wouldn't work. It would just be grayed out when I went to click "use." Happened in about three areas. I was in human form and everything but couldn't use my white soapstone. Couldn't see summon signs of other players either. Hopefully that crap isn't going on tonight.

The summon stuff is still wonky at times. Need to log out and log back in and hope it restores a connection.

The trophies are too easy for DS2. Doesn't feel like a challenge. Stuff like Pure Bladestone was annoying but it seemed fitting and made it so satisfying to get.

Yep, they seem pretty easy overall except the ones where you have to grind covenants, i hate online trophies. Also i learned that you can farm wins for the bell covenant by killing the ninja dude in belfry sol.

I agree, but that stance doesn't really have anything to do with being old and grumpy. That's just wanting solid trophy design. The old and grumpy stance is more along the lines of, "I don't have the time or desire to chase trophies."

On the co-op point I also agree entirely. I have never used a summon for any boss fight in a Souls game because it completely undermines the difficulty of the encounter, in my opinion. That said, I'm glad the option exists for those that want it and I love helping people beat bosses, even if it does kind of trivialize the whole thing.

Also, screw fighting Mytha
in the poison! I tried that for two and a half hours before looking it up and realizing there was an easier way...
I just didn't have the DPS to pull it off...

Thinking about purchasing from GAME in the UK, the physical copy is £10 cheaper than the digital version, does anyone know if the physical copy contains a Steam key or is able to be integrated with Steam?

Going to take on the Undead Purgatory boss tonight, making it the first boss I've gone into completely blind. I only know what the dude looks like. Shouls be fun..hopefully.

Over 20 hours into the game and it just started doing that. Hopefully that is a quick fix. Thanks.

Yea, everytime it happened, I would just do that and it worked again. Sometimes it took 2-3 retries but I get it back and continue my summoning signs.

So, finally managed to down the Suspicious Shadows, but they didn't even drop anything...

I never tried Smelter with Lucatiel but I've read that it's god awful. Of course, you could get lucky and have that glitch where Lucatiel for some reason never enters the fog door after you. In which case, no need to worry about her.
k, I guess I will try for rotten ng+++ then.

if anyone is up later and would like to help me, I'm sl 137 and around 2.5kk soul memory.
if mage, with soul geyser it should be a lot easier. :p

Is there any reason TO pull the lever?
the right question is: is there any reason to NOT pull the lever?
he has a quest that you need to complete in order to get some good stuff, he also sells good stuff and he's an interesting character. it's really easy to
kill him if he invades you, he's going to try and cast some spells but you can just interrupt him everytime going melee.

So what is up with the
Spider in the Gutter?

Is it as useless as it seems?

The
giant ant actually heals poison, I read.
I think from a lore perspective it might be
a failed experiment of the Duke that he threw into the gutter
, but I don't know what I'm talking about.

So he's a merchant with unique items, but tries to kill you? If you kill him when he invades can you still find him/purchase items from him?

i think there should be a risk/reward system in place for summoning help
currently the only risk for summoning help is that it's not as satisfying. i'd like something actually in the game

the same way there's risk of being invaded when you're human (and thus having more hp)
or really, anything else in the game haha

summoning helps seems to be one of the few elements of souls games with no risk involved. it's sort of like an easy button. and don't get me wrong, playing coop can be fun. but nothing compares to beating a tough boss by yourself. and there should either be a reward for doing it solo or a punishment for summoning help

What's the best way to just fight another player? I'm in the sun bros so I don't really want to change covenants. Any items to get or areas to go to just for a quick fight?

Anyone:
So I've been having a muck around with my two maces in that power stance use both at once thing and it's great. But a couple of questions I've got about some things:
  1. Should I use a morning star or just infuse one mace with bleed?
  2. What is best to infuse a mastadon greatsword with?
Turns out poison is not good on the mastadon at all I should have put it one something else oops.

The area where you fight
Pursuer
next to
Cardinal Towers
bonfire is a great spot for PVP. It reminds me of the Undead Burg in DS1. I wish more people fought there.

Equip load should scale with Endurance imo. Endurance increases have become so incremental in the 20s, it makes it feel like a wasted soul level tbh

Asked before, but what does Infusion do to upgrading weapons? Thinking of infusing the Arced Sword with lightning

Farming Pure Bladestone was great because with all the stuff to get extra souls for killing enemies I'm pretty sure you could gain like 100 levels in the process :)

Barely touched the vitality stat on even my strength character. A few points was all I needed, but I find the heavier armors mostly useless anyway

Infusion will add damage for that element (in your case lightning), while lowering its normal scaling values (ie you'll get less physical damage bonus from your STR and DEX stats, but now it will also do lightning damage).

1. I think if you infused the morning star with bleed you'd get a mad bonus to bleed damage, which could make it a handy PVP weapon.

2. For the greatsword I'd stick with regular +10 if you've got decently high STR and DEX, but if you've gone with faith or intelligence then you could be better off with fire or lightning infusion.

I'm not 100% sure on the second part as I haven't used fire or lightning weapons, but I think they scale with INT or FTH this time round.

Will the physical damage be hamstrung throughout the upgrade path though, or would it upgrade to a point where a +5 Infused sword is still doing more physical damage than the default normal sword, only with added Lightning damage?

Think I might wait either way until I have the Vitality to use said sword without sacrificing the mid-roll, or wearing light armour

So it's worth the scaling decrease to make it a bleed weapon then? I'm going to keep my greatswords as normal from now on shame there's no crystal this time around though.

FINALLY, fuuuuuck you Covenant boss, FINALLY! Wasted around 25 effigies to get to him, and of course I end up finishing him off with a classic melee encounter instead of Swathe'ing him to death. Right as I hit him with my final blow, one fireball hits me and should have killed me, but I remained alive for some strange reason, PHEW. My heart was pounding like hell.

If you can stack up the bleed fast enough it could be pretty devastating in PVP. So if you had it on your off hand along with a stronger weapon in your right then you could have a winning combo.
