Super Smash Bros. for 3DS & Wii U Thread 6: Final Destination confirmed for not fun

Rita's :3

Im partial to Cherias.....but Genis will always have a special place in my heart for his trio of Indignations.

So now a Raiden rumor popped up? interesting. I know that would help bring in even more metal gear fans, ESPECIALLY after MGR. But I would honestly want Bayo before Raiden. (or why not both?)

I honestly dont care as long as we get a bunch of character that have been worked with love and care.

Hear me out:

I predict we won't get any new character reveals until E3, as Nintendo wants to keep all focus on Mario Kart. Even the april direct might not reveal a new character, but it's a tough call. Maybe if there's some way they can work it into Mario Kart.

As for vets, I think the team is going to tighten up on those too. I just think they want to make sure they have a lot of Smash related surprises for E3

It's more likely or the fact that they want to save up more veterans so they can release 3 characters per month for last few months before the game's release date.

That's what happened with Melee and Brawl.

The Pikachu update today is an extremely cool update, but I'm not sure how to take it. If Pikachu still goes through all that cool-down even after successfully hitting an opponent with thunder, then this is a subtle-but-heavy nerf.

The thundercloud is much lower, and if the cloud itself deals the meteor smash, it could mean that Pikachu loses a huge part of what made him so dangerous; thunderspiking.

Also note that this is a meteor smash, which mean it has the potential to be meteor cancelled or the opponent can tech once they reach the ground ("foes can dodge, of course, so the attack won't hit consistently"). It all depends on the strength of the meteor itself, although I wouldn't be surprised if the knockback was fixed (something like Ike's Aether and Kirby's Final Cutter), to prevent the move from being completely unusable unless your opponent is at high percent.

If Pikachu has lesser cool-down after successfully hitting with thunder, then I'm okay with this update as it will allow follow ups. Either way, this feels far less efficient to get kills.

EDIT: Oh, If you look at the third panel as Bowser is descending towards Pikachu, you can see Pikachu's enlarged tail through his body (it appears to be an attack as evident by the fourth panel), showing that Pikachu is capable of acting out of thunder much earlier.

I would like to know what caused Bowser to fly in that trajectory anyway. Unless Bowser did some amazing DI, can up-tilt/up-smash really send an opponent in that angle?

There's no way the April direct won't have a Smash newcomer. The Wii U needs good news, and they're likely a bit low on resources with EAD, Gamefreak, and Retro finishing major projects recently. A Smash Bros newcomer gains a lot of interest, and people will be expecting it.

Now, that said, as for tying it into Mario Kart...perhaps Pacman? He's already been in the arcade ones.

Talking about E3, if we don't get a release date for Smash at E3 should we start worrying about that 2014 release window?
Maybe, but not too much. Nintendo doesn't tend to reveal solid release dates super-far in advance, because then people get disappointed if there's a delay.

Late but:

Anna and Medusa confuse me.

Medusa brings the "Big 3" of Kid Icarus together, gives Smash a new villain and its first villainess, and could bring in a compliment for whatever type of play style Palutena could bring into the roster. Most people peg Palu as a semi defensive character with great projectiles and a staff. In that case, Medusa could be more aggressive and particularly fond of big AoE attacking magic. Also, turning people to stone/petrifying them with stares.

Hades is the more popular pick I know but eh, let me dream a little. :P

As for Anna:

Speaking personally, Anna has always been one of my picks as a general Fire Emblem representative, given how she's been in practically every entry to the series. She's technically more of a constant than Marth is. And her role as a merchant puts a neat theoretical angle on how her moves might work, as someone who theoretically has almost every FE weapon-type on hand.

So, I can dig it.

All of this plus money puns and the potential for a cool gimmick based around managing (projectile) coins/money.

On another topic, there was a small conversation that was brewing in the Raiden thread about swords people in Smash that amounted to the guy asking for a sheathed sword using character with mobility options. (Capcom vs. SNK 2 Hibiki or Guilty Gear Johnny automatically came to mind btw.) This made me realize something. Why exactly are people elsewhere always so "I haet swords/no more swords people" when the series actually hasn't represented more than a few specific manners of close combat with a sword? We have:

Marth & Roy: Fencing (only because Roy was based off Marth initially)
Link & Toon Link: "Knight"
Metaknight: Hyper cartoonish and stylized "death by a million cuts"
Ike:
Club User
Heavy Swordsman
Pit: Daggers/Bladed Bow

And that's been it throughout the entire series. What gives? Keep in mind, I'm not saying I'd want everyone and their mother to use one, especially when a lot of other weapon styles are missing out on Smash representation (flails, gauntlets and greaves, staffs, magic beyond "hey, here's a different attack effect/a shiny hit box!"), but I wonder where all the hate comes from.

Naw, I think they don't want to reveal the date too early like they did with Brawl. I'm pretty sure that they don't want the situation happened as it did few years ago. People were outraged which I thought it was silly.

Sakurai Died on January 14, 2008 after a crowd of angry fans killed him for Delaying Brawl a 2nd time. A fan was heard screaming you must recover in the incident.

He died in January 15, 2008, after being kicked off a tall building. The person who kicked him off yelled "You Must Recover!" as he fell down to his doom.

Once you know how to attack, the next thing you have to think about is avoiding enemy attacks. That’s where the shield button comes in handy.

You guard against your enemy’s attack with your shield!!

Shielding against attacks is a top priority. Because if you don’t get attacked, you can’t get done in! However, the more attacks your shield takes, the smaller it gets.

If your shield breaks, you lose consciousness.

But more important than guarding is dodging.

You just tap the Control Stick in a direction while holding the shield button.

Tap the control stick down to do a sidestep dodge!

Tap it backward to do a backward-roll dodge!

And tap forward to do a forward-roll dodge and get behind your opponent!

If you can do these moves, your enemies will have a hard time landing their attacks. And they make you momentarily invincible, so using them proactively is OK.

Use these moves as much as you can even before you get used to them. Sometimes things become clearer that way.

If only he had followed his own advice.

If Shulk gets in what do you guy think his stage would be?

I could see it as either being in many different places, but my ideal idea would be an area of platforms floating with just bionics and mechanics fighting in the background, completely with the time of day changes like in the Xenoblade title screen. It can even have some flying wildlife as hazards of sorts.

Sure it may seem a bit boring layout wise, but between the music, atmosphere, and fighting going on, it could be soo beautiful.

Jesus, pathetic.

It could be the plain Colony 9 or the awesome Bionis Leg! :3

See that's my one problem with getting a Xeboblade stage. There are soo many beautiful locations. Satorl Marsh, bionics leg, Makna forest, hell they can even use the last area, which I'm not going to name so there aren't spoilers

Bionis Leg is probably the most likely, but I would like to a see a Fallen Arm stage. It has the perfect of mix of robotic and living, has the strong image of the fingers rising up in the background, and you can see both the Bionis and Mechonis in the distance. It pretty much sums up the entire setting.

That's absurd

I'm pretty sure this month's Direct will have a newcomer reveal. It happened with Rosalina and Mac, I think it'll keep the hype going until E3, and no reason why it'd steal any sort of shine from MK8. I'm really hoping we get a veteran reveal tomorrow since it'll be a sweet end to this week's updates (and it's my birthday).

Made me think of what stages I want in game that probably won't have character representation. Mainly I want a Gyromite stage... but if ROB comes back, that's a need-be! Also, I really want a Wii U eShop stage just for kicks and giggles. Like, if you attack in front of the games (real-time showing of the eShop), it could scroll down or perhaps just flip around. Just something new they should have, because I liked the Pictochat stage, but didn't like that it wasn't viable. That's just the next best thing.

But, on your Xenoblade idea... I would LOVE that! But, I'd want it to work like Smashville in which it could switch between two different areas, and THEN go into a day/night cycle. Perhaps one could be on the Fallen Arm, with Antols fighting in the background. And another could be the Central Factory with a whole bunch of mechguys flying around *perhaps even shooting/slashing at you!* Or maybe they could have a nod at both Xenoblade and the upcoming X in which instead of different times, it would switch between different... weather conditions I believe they were called. So, we could have a giant storm hit down on Colony 6 only to have a rainbow shine through after it ends! There is so much they could do for a Xenoblade stage, if you really think about it.

What like Lyn?

Because more so than someone like Lucy, Lyn could pull of a unique moveset by using Iaido.

OMG even if I was just a final destination 1 platform stage, if they had one with xenoblade music, weather randomly changing, time changing, and me joins and bionics in the background, I think that would be the only level I wanted to play...

It would be like atmospheric overload!!

I'd imagine in would have walk-off edges, since it'd probably be on the ground.
