Final Fantasy VII Rebirth confirmed for Switch 2 and Xbox Series, Part 3 will be multiplatform as well

It only shows that Playstation as a brand is not as strong as it used to be.
You must be a idiot or think i wanna to start a flame war, because the official numbers show that PS as a brand is as strong as ever (do they deserve? That is another story, personally I don't think they do). Square-ENix, on other hand... it's amazing how they stuck on the FUC*ING boring stagger combat style since FF XIII (Im sure they think that troligy is a master pice, i believe it's a piece of garbage that [read that part as Varré or Margit] tarnished all the following entries).

Think I might as well wait for the inevitable FFVII remake collection at this point since I still haven't bought rebirth. Maybe.
I heard Rebirth is a much better game than the first but at this point i want to know if they'll stick the landing for the 3rd game before I invest anymore of my time into this.

Had to force myself to finish Remake. I hate doing that and it wasn't worth it, such a poorly designed game with way too much forced padding to stretch it out. I do enjoy the combat very much though

Just like proved by releasing these games on PC/Xbox this will be ultimately useless because the series hasn't evolved or gained new fans since the peak in the FF7-FFX era 20 years ago.
New generations don't care about the FF IP and they have no reason to since the games that were released during their time were the FFXIII trilogy, the complete unfinished mess FFXV and the dull action game wannabe FFXVI.

This will just help to gain a bit of users in Japan with the Switch2.
Their problem is not multiplatform but that they have to rebuild the brand with a string of actual great games that don't take 7 years to be released and give reasons to people under 35 to give it at least a look.

Part of the issue is that PS is dead in Japan. The Switch sales will be interesting... porting it to XBox is just a waste of time.

An Xbox port will be relatively cheap and it shouldn't be difficult to recoup investment and turn a profit.

At the same time, they'd be expanding the playerbase which could pay dividends for future games.

How are they going to fit 150Gb game on a Nintendo Switch cart?

That's part of the problem. For a lot of people, it's evolved way too much.
