Captain America: The Winter Soldier |OT| "Before we get started...

It's really solid. Best fight choreography of any of the Marvel films by far, and outcomes have more justification than "this guy's a superhero, this guy isn't." They put the work in and show why they are who they are. Story is straightforward intrigue but does the job. Feels more like Millar-style Cap in terms of style and power level than "fight a grunt on the ground while everyone else saves the world" Avengers Cap, though this is still inconsistent at times depending on how much plot armor is needed scene by scene.

tony stark is too busy being drunk
thor is too busy banging natalie portman
bruce banner was out shopping for a new pair of pants
hawkeye was trying out for the dark gritty robin hood reboot by christopher nolan

To be fair, I think this is a legitimate (if ultimately unavoidable) fault in these stand-alone films. At least it isn't as glaring as in Thor 2, where literally the entire universe is about to be destroyed.

The ending of Thor 2 happens literally in minutes. Who is supposed to know what's even happening let alone react in time?

I think it'll be hilarious if they have a "Meanwhile..." gag reel before each movie starts, showing all the other Avengers each in some stupid situation which they can't get out of anytime soon, and then the movie starts. It would be awful in terms of keeping a serious tone, but it would shut those people up! Lolol.
I laughed, then imagined the reel with Benny Hill music. Now I want it to happen!

I'm also pretty sure that they gave Steve a pretty damn good reason for not calling anyone in on this one.
Seriously, a real good one.

Yeah, Thor came to Earth at the end of Thor 2, forgot about that. Iron Man blew up most of his armor, but we're kidding ourselves if we think he doesn't have any left, right? He's in Avengers 2 so...

That being said, we absolutely don't need an explicit explanation for why the other Avengers aren't there for the movie. It would be kind of silly to have one, in my opinion.

Help me remember at the end of Iron Man 3, Pepper had the whole
Extremis thing going on, but Stark didn't, right? He says some off-handed comment at the end about how he "took care of her problem" but I wasn't sure if that meant she's still super-powered but stable, or if he took away the powers all together...
Anyone?
It's left unclear on purpose, but I assume that if Tony could fix the Extremis' flaw he'd let her keep it, that way he doesn't have to worry too much about protecting her. Also because she proved to be an excellent ass-kicking machine XD

I don't know if that's necessarily true anymore. It seems more like IM3 was six months after The Avengers, Thor 2 a year later, Cap 2 two years later. And ScarJo just said in a recent interview that Age of Ultron picks up three afters after the first movie. So Phase 2 seems like it's moving in real-time.
Yes, and given the times in universe I wonder if at some point they planned to have 2 movies in 2012 rather than just Avengers.
because they seem to fit with the release schedule... yes, I'm reading too much into it, move along
Unexciting fight scenes
Bland cinematography
Looks like a TV film
Plot holes
Predictable

Take your pick. It'll most likely be one of those, even if the film contains none of them. We all know the hate for this will boil down to it being a Marvel Studios film.
We already had at least one of "Predictable" in this topic :O

Not really, like said above the Phase 2 solo films have a span of a couple of days at most. And even then all 3 have very good reasons in the films themselves to explain why the other Avengers aren't there.

Good summary I felt the same way. Really enjoyed it and thought it was a huge improvement over the first movie. The action scenes are very well done and I love how heavy the cap feels in this. He is a definite force to be reckoned with. My wife normally can't stand long action set pieces but they are well thought out in Winter Soldier and have enough context that even she enjoyed it.

So being that we
see Quicksilver and Red Scarlet(I'm assuming) the X Men will be making a appearance at some point which I had no idea was happening. Genuinely shocked me.

They can use Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch but not the rest of the X-Men. Some loophole because they're heavily associated with the Avengers.

The end of Thor 2 happened in minutes , what were they going to do, the rest of the film is in other realms.

The best marvel movie in ages. Equally entertaining with Iron man and have been very disappointed with most of marvel movies as of late so was very impressed. One thing I didn't like was the inconsistency of the Cap's Shield though. Winter Soldier's beast mode is insane and wish there was more scenes. Captain's abilities definitively much better shown in this movie and actually feels like a super soldier. Peggy scene was just so beautiful and sad and hopefully, future movies have scenes like it which I felt was missing in CA1 and a bit of Avengers for steve's scenes.

I thought this film did the best job of making Black Widow seem like an interesting character with actual personality. Enjoyed it a lot, good pacing and action.

Can Batman in Batman vs Superman steal some of Cap's choreography please?

Absolutely this. Clean well choreographed action. I love how caps athleticism and sheer strength are so well represented. Two things Batman is supposed to have in spades.

Great fight scenes. At the end of CA1 your like "This dude with the shield leads The Avengers?" At the end of this they show you why he is the leader.

Best fight scenes in a movie in a LONG time! Cap felt like a freaking tank in this movie. I still think that Falcon stole the show though. Loved this movie a whole lot. Chris Evans is my hero.

And its not just stuff like the punches and awesome kicks,
he is diving, rolling, dodging so much shit in this.
Batman looks like a statue by comparison, I know the suit limits you some but come on.

Just got out of my showing, that was fucking fantastic. One of the top tier Marvel films, up there with the original Iron Man.

This was waaaay better than Thor 2. I would also put it ahead of IM1 and Avengers.

I liked Thor 2 a lot myself, but there's no comparison. This is right behind Avengers, and on par with Ironman 1 for me.

This movie is fucking awesome. Just straight up badass. Like, even if you're not a huge fan of comic book movies, there's enough awesome fight scenes and action set pieces, not to mention the intrigue of the plot, that you should enjoy this movie.

And man, Cap is a fucking BEAST in this movie. His sheer power and crazy agility and speed come across in spades in this.
dat first kick on the ship :O

That really highlights so much of the problem with Modern Batman suits. They do limit so much and he's not supposed to be so limited. The old cloth suit is of course silly but moving around like a knight in a suit of plate armor isn't the way to go either. They could at least use the fact its an alternate reality more advanced etc to make a suit that doesn't have to look like metal plates bolted together etc yet have the protection of that stuff and thus allow actor to move around easier etc

I always found it weird how many people call the first Iron Man their favorite. I love it too but to put it ahead of the other ones seems strange to me. Anyway, this is how I would rank the cinematic universe so far:

Iron Man 3 > Avengers > Winter Soldier > First Avenger > Hulk > Iron Man 2 > Dark World > Iron Man > Thor

Great movie, different vibe from other marvel movies but it works, cap wrecks some serious shit, those action scenes, and fights were great, you can see the inspiration from The raid. Awe yeah

Ooohh, have we gotten to that point in this Marvel Movie Thread?

Avengers
Winter Soldier
Iron Man 3
Iron Man
Captain America
Thor
Thor 2
Iron Man 2
Incredible Hulk

To be clear, I enjoyed all of them, with only The Incredible Hulk being terrible (the complete lack of plot sort of killed any interest I might have had).

That was pretty damn good; the fights were amazing, I enjoyed all the characters and Capt looks like a real superhero compared to the first movie. Only didn't care too much for winter soldiers backstory.
