If it's delayed that will be very, very interesting. That would mean that they are going to
a) Have one hell of a drought coming up, and
b) Might be spacing out already announced games to hide the fact that they're moving non-announced games to some other device.
Of course, I'm 90% sure that this game is coming out this October/November and that nothing is amiss. But if it IS delayed, that'll be one meaty morsel to digest.

Really? I saw the video first and it's what I always see linked. I guess there's no real way to know since you can't tell the exact time YouTube videos are uploaded.

Both of these main points are entirely valid. For the former, Sakurai considers these games the fourth and fifth games in the franchise. For the latter, when Steel Diver: Sub Wars first showed up in a financial document from Nintendo, they put it in terms of their fiscal year, not calendar year.
Besides, what happened to everything we were saying previously, about how quickly information was being given via PotD or how we actually have a Direct all about this one game, which normally happens rather close to release?

Why did you buy a system that only has one game you want, when the game is months away? And did you seriously just suggest afterwards that you would prefer the game release unfinished and then get patched to completion?

I was there when it happened, but just to be sure I researched real quick. That video was posted on GAF almost 7 hours after Muppet345's post. It was made by Fragmaster from SomethingAwful and was a dramatic reading of several forum posts.

Have anyone suggested that it is possible they will push the Wii U version out first in the fall to move Wii U's? Delay the 3ds version till Q1/Q2 2015 since lots of people have a 3DS and not a lot of people have Wii U's. Kind of a long shot but who knows =P Just trying to delude myself into Wii U Smash DEFINITELY coming out this year T.T

Yea I think some of us have come to terms with that scenario. The Wii U could really use this game more so than the 3DS right now so I have no problem with the Wii U getting its game first. But again, like you said who knows. lol Hopefully the Smash Direct will help shed some light on how the development has been going. A part of me does not expect a solid release date just yet.

WiiU version are likely to release before 3DS version, but wont be delayed a season long. Since there are interaction between both version, 3DS version should be released in less than 2 month after the WiiU one, I think.

I would rather they add new stages and characters than that to be honest. Yearly releases split up the game far more than DLC does, even if DLC is sometimes a problem.

Glad to see I'm not crazy and others agree to the delay 3DS possibility. Did Sakurai say anything about keeping the character count low? With NB involved in this wouldnt that open the way for even more guest chars? or are they strictly helping out with development?

Nope, he didn't say anything substantial about the character count but for some reason or another, some are not expecting a lot of cuts. As far as we know, Sakurai is still in charge of the whole process and NB is helping with developing and actually implementing the designs.There is still so much we don't know about this game so any info will be much needed info.
