I agree, but it's a fanservice game so I can understand why people would complain. There are plenty of people, even those who play competitively, who pick characters because they like the character's design. If someone like that isn't too hot on Pokemon, he (or she) probably wouldn't be interested in playing any of them even if one of the Pokemon had a playstyle that suited him.

No, that's not a waveland, it's just the momentum from his jump/fall is being carried onto the ground when he lands.

I feel as though Sakurai's daily commute to work on this project involve opening a gargantuan safe labeled "Comprehensive History of Nintendo and Complete Catalog of Nintendo Video Game Characters and Miscellaneous Objects" and seeing how far in he can go to retrieve things for use in Super Smash Bros. without getting lost. Mr. Game and Watch, ROB, and especially Color TV Game 15 give me this vibe for the former half of this hypothetical vault name, while items like Bombchus and the Steel Diver submarine gun give me the impression of the latter half.

I was surprised with how much I enjoyed the direct. There were a ton of things that I loved about the game from the reveal (For Glory, Greninja, moveset updates), and only a few things that I felt were going in the wrong direction (timed For Glory, return of some shitty assist trophies like Nintendog).

Overall, I'm more hyped for Smash than I was before, so I'd consider this to be a good successful night.

I think it's more likely that he browses 2Chan or whatever, given that English isn't his first language.

He also probably just has a good idea of what the community likes/thinks/wants/etc. from Miiverse, Twitter, and Facebook.

They've only nerfed his multiple recovery options (no more glide, yet his up-special is so much faster that I consider it a buff). Offensively he's been buffed quite a bit, even including super armour in an attack.

I found that Pit was great against people who didn't know the match-up and never knew how to deal with his projectile. A good thing to note is that if you make it difficult for Pit to back-air you or forward-smash you, then you're going to be living to ridiculous percentages. It's a fun matchup to learn.
 
On a random note, I'm also glad we got confirmation about the male WFT and also learned about Wire Mac, although I'm surprised we didn't hear about a female version of the Villager.

Gotta say, i think every character looks better now. I can see why someone might not like Samus because of the change but i will think it looks good.

Pikachu is by far his best self, I've never liked him in smash until now.

Yoshis melee version is pretty bad retrospectively. But so are most of the melee versions.

Yeah. Snivy and Chespin appear in the Pokémon lineup at the start of Greninja + Charizard's trailer. Doubt they'll be playable.

Yep, I honesly don't care that much since I don't like Metroid that much, but honesly, there is no almost way Ridley isn't playable. If he was really a stage hazard, it would've been fully shown. So much trolling in this Direct.

Also anther thought: Unless I missed it (kept restarting the stream) no female villager confirmed yet. Surely, this would've been the best time to reveal her with everything else. Really worried, but there should be no reason that a female villiger shouldn't exist.

Traditionally, everyone I have played these games with has preferred timed. We have historically played this game as a free-for-all brawler rather than a one-on-one fighter, so Timed just makes more sense. Whenever we ever played Stock, it would degenerate into 4 people all trying to run from a fight. It's only when I started playing one-on-one matches that I ever really gained any appreciation for Stock. For 4-player matches, timed just feels like a much more accurate measure of how much ass you kicked. I always hated losing a Stock match with four players even though I was winning by several points. So yeah, all I'm saying is different strokes for different folks.

Yep, still having hope for Ridley.

I honestly have more hope for Ridley being a newcomer than I have for Squirtle and Ivysaur returning. Which is weird, but the Ridley tease was so much troll.
 
Oh fuck, didn't notice Waluigi being labeled as a Wario character this time. This better mean something Samuraaaai.

Also, Yoshi looks dumb as fuck standing upright. So fed up with that character now.

Looks like Dark Lord is playable too, can't be too sure huh? Look how Yellow Devil actually plays a role as a sage hazard. Maybe he just wants us to find out for ourselves.
 
Greninja's nice, even though I also fell for the Mewtwo bait-and-switch.

Mr. Samurai clearly knows his troll-fu. First that ZSS deconfirm... not! Then the pseudo Palutena trophy quiz, and then "other bosses might also appear on other stages" with Ridley's shadow showing on Pyrosphere...

All the different Final Destinations look great, but it looks like they might've taken the "No items. Fox only. Final Destination" meme a bit too seriously. I'd say randomizing one to three floating platforms would be best, but that's probably not going to happen; hopefully, the dev team adds some other stages to Glory mode's random select at the very least (like, say, Battlefield).

Also, public NNID profiles means we might finally be able to register people we've played against to ask for a rematch and other stuff like that, woo! I'd love to see something such as Pokémon X/Y's Passerby-Acquaintance-Friend system.

Yea it would be odd for him to tease so hard and make Ridley nothing more than a stage hazard. Although this is also the man who said " just because you try hard doesn't mean you get to join the battle", so who knows lol. I feel like all characters having Alts is pretty much given at this point so female villager is a shoe in.
